The most dramatic moment to me was when Mark Henderson of Boulder, Co. received a standing ovation from thousands for a moving presentation on unity. I was stunned, for I saw it as an excellent summary of what Carl Ketcherside and I have been saying all these years. That was confirmed when old friends said to me afterwards, “Leroy, I didn’t know you were here. I thought of you.” One brother complained that “When they talk like that they ought to give you and Carl credit!”
 

            But the news isn’t as good as it sounds. I was so impressed that Mark received a standing ovation for saying what I would have said had I been in his place that I wanted to check it out and see if it were for real. So I quietly sought out folk among the rank and file who didn’t know me – such as elders from the churches across the country, and housewives – and asked them what they thought of the lecture on unity. Over the next two days I asked some 14 people, and all but one or two were upset by what was said, some very upset. It was too much when Mark told of meeting with “denominational” preachers and praying with them, noting that he could enjoy such fellowship in spite of differences. Several insisted that they wanted unity “only in truth.” It did no good for me to point out that that was what Mark was saying. 

           I don’t know why nearly everyone stood and applauded, or so it seemed. It is enough to say that Mark’s “Let’s put our sectarianism behind us” speech was well received by most or many. Maybe I asked the wrong ones, but I have no illusions but what we still have our work cut out for us. Sectarianism is alive and well in Churches of Christ. The difference is that more are raising their voices against it, and it is becoming acceptable to do so, sort of.

THE PURPOSE DRIVEN CHURCH

Paul used the words for "synagogue" to define the assembly of the congregation (ekklesia). Because we are disciples and not ceremonial legalists, the purpose was to teach "that which is written" or "that which has been taught.

In even quite vile assemblies it was understood that you cannot have a rational (spiritual) discussion until you "put out the flute girls." Jesus did that by ejecting the musical minstrels.

Why then would a Church of Christ INJECT the female performers and "flute girls" when it claims to be there to listen to Jesus Christ through His songs and sermons.

Paul said that we should not be NEAR WINE and that we should not be drunk on wine but filled with the Spirit (Eph 5) or the Word of Christ (Col 3).  Even in the "crooked generation" of the symposia:

[176e] It was agreed that drinking was not to be the order of the day, but that they were all to drink only so much as they pleased.

Then, said Eryximachus, as you are all agreed that drinking is to be voluntary, and that there is to be no compulsion,

tên...aulêtrida. It was the fashion at convivia to provide pipers, dancers, jesters, jugglers et hoc genus omne to amuse the guests. Cp. Xen. Symp. Why would a Church of Christ be less considerate than what Jesus and Peter called the Crooked Generation of Skolion singers who ejected the entertainers when they wanted to discuse a mere human?

The common understanding of all decent societies is also defined by a proper understanding of the Romans 14-15 conflict between the marketplace (meats, music, mayhem) and the assembly where the excluded self-pleasure includes the use of all of the performing or hypocritic arts.

Me thinks the Quail has been Cuckold: "Cuckold" is derived from the Old French for the Cuckoo bird, "Cocu" with the pejorative suffix -ald. The earliest written use of the Middle English derivation, “cokewold” occurs in 1250. The females of certain varieties of Cuckoo lay their eggs in other bird’s nests, freeing themselves from the need to nurture the eggs to hatching.
Cuckolds are also sometimes portrayed as having horns (which look like devil horns), but this is actually a crescent moon set behind the head. Since the moon waxes and wanes, it was held as a symbol of the changeability of love, and especially the fickleness of women, so a cuckold had the moon hanging over his head.
In part three, refuting each and every one of Mark's teachings, we have posted more of the universal undestanding in all societies that:

GOOD: Those who were educated and decent "cast out" the musicians so that dialog was possible.
               That is what Paul commanded. [Romans 15]

EVIL: Those who were ignorant or of the lower classes always sought musicians because they were unable to hold a conversation. [Romans 14] Jesus consigned the "pipers, singers and dancers" to the Agora or marketplace.

Jesus silenced the laded burden which means a repeating type song in both Hebrew and Greek. The SABBATH or REST in the church in the wilderness outlawed vocal and instrumental rejoicing and the Greek word PAUO demands that all musical or theatrical performance be STOPPED.

That is why all of the very small band of men with a hidden agenda twist every Biblical and historical mention of a "music" or instrument word.  This is the mark of being totally ignorant of the context and story line of Israel's fall from grace. In one sense they fulfill the prophecy of working "supernatural powers" in order to deceive thousands of church members. Paul warned that they would deceive the very ELECT if possible. That means that those so deceived are NOT part of the ELECT meaning called OUT of the World they want to reimpose.

Based on the NACC writers "proof texts" while ignoring the context and story line, they now wax quite violent in denying that anyone has the right to continue to teach that it is wrong to use musical instruments.  
SUMMARY: All lusts to impose the "works of human hands" in the ekklesia or school of the Bible of Christianity is a tribalistic impulse which is patterned after Israel's rescue by grace from Egypt.  They thanked God by indulging in musical idolatry.  They sang God's praise but He sent leanness into their hearts. He turned them over to worrship the starry host which is now the patternism many want imposed upon the "faithful majority."

Stephen's confirmation: As a result of warning about the musical idolatry, Stephen upset the Temple Jews by informing them that their sacrificial system was imposed and not a blessing: God had abandoned them to worship the starry host. Stephen binds together the Musical Idolatry at Mount Sinai and the Book of Amos.


Because the leadership at Mount Sinai was unredeemed pagans, God separated them to the sacrificial system. At the same time He ordained the Qahal, synagogue or "church in the wilderness." This included resting, reading and rehearsing the Word of God--a PATTERN which changed little in their entire history. The righteous "congregation" was quarantined from the pagan animal slaughter with loud noise--never called music.  The Law was to protect the righteous weak "congregation" from the always parasitic practices of religionists pretenders to power.

The Spirit OF Christ through the prophets made it clear that no righteous preacher could be uninformed that what they want to impose was abandonment to their old religion.
I have put this summary in a box to prove that the Sacrificial System was added BECAUSE of musical idolatry.  Furthermore, no "citizen" could even come near the sacrifices.  After the temple was built they were put outside of the city gates when they heard the noise which is never called music. Any competent Bible scholar would know that the Bible itself radically condemns instruments. One can only conclude that instruments are a MARK or SIGN that Satan has invaded a church.

If all known evidence proves that the sacrificial system was a curse added because of musical idolatry at Mount Sinai and the demand for a national or goyim ruler, then Mark Henderson is trying to drag you back to the far side of the cross.

Let it be noted that there is no "music" commanded by God in any Law or Covenant.  Because the sacrificial system was imposed the loud NOISE was never called music and was part of that curse.
BUILDING THE FOUNDATION: The people were Quarantined from Sacrificial System added as part of the worship of the starry host to which God had abandoned the nation.
  1. As a Covenant of Grace God gave The Book of the Covenant to govern the nation.
  2. Israel fell fatally from Grace because of musical idolatry at Mount Sinai.
  3. God turned them over to worship the starry host (Acts 7 and a dozen more passages)
  4. God burdened them with The Book of The Law and the Levites to "bear the burdens of sin."
  5. The Abrahamic Covenant was lost and the First Born sons replaced.
  6. No one not of Levi and not specificially ordained could COME NEAR the Tabernacle without sinning.
Because the false teachers REST on the curse of the Law and the Monarchy, the elders, preachers and artistic performers would die if they ventured in or near the area of animal slaughter.

Furthermore, no Levite, used as Warrior Noise makers
and later under the king and commanders of the army--could come near the holy places of the sanctury or they would be executed. The patternism is that if a musician enters into the body of Christ as fulfilment of the Holy Place he / she / it is worthy of death.

Num 18:2 And thy brethren also of the tribe of Levi, the tribe of thy father, bring thou with thee, that they may be joined unto thee, and minister unto thee: but thou and thy sons with thee shall minister BEFORE the tabernacle of witness. [never IN]

H8334 sharath shaw-rath' A primitive root; to attend as a menial or worshipper; figuratively to contribute to:--minister (unto), (do) serve (-ant, -ice, -itor), wait on.

The "service" is from Abad or Abadown meaning "hard bondage." It is the same Apollo or Abaddon John used in Revelation 17-18.
Abbadon - The book of Revelations identifies him as the chief demon of locusts.

Num 18:3 And they shall keep thy charge, and the charge of all the tabernacle:
        only they shall not come nigh the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar,
        that neither they, nor ye also, di

Nadab and Abihu violates several commandments.

All of the non-Levites were called STRANGERS: if you were not of the tribe of Levi with the assignment to serve you could not even minister to the priests outside of the Temple-proper.  Therefore, no member of the "church" could come near the Tabernacle and none of the "ministers" could ENTER it.

"A stranger," that is, one, neither a priest nor a Levite, who should intrude into any departments of the sacred office, should incur the penalty of death. ROBERT JAMIESON

Num 18:4 And they shall be joined unto thee,
        and keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation,
        for all the service [hard, legalistic bondage] of the tabernacle:
        and a stranger shall not come nigh unto you.

The sacrificial system was NEVER the spiritual worship but part of the WRATH DISPELLING curse imposed because of Musical idolatry.

Num 18:5 And ye shall keep the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the altar:
        that there be no wrath any more upon the children of Israel.

Contrary to being a spiritual worship service, the sacrificial system had been imposed and if it were not performed it would bring down God's wrath as punishment due for NOT performing what they had been abandoned to.

Num 18:6 And I, behold, I have taken your brethren the Levites from among the children of Israel:
         to you they are given as a gift for the LORD,
         to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.
 

Num 18:7 Therefore thou and thy sons with thee shall keep your priest’s office for every thing of the altar,
        and within the veil; and ye shall serve: I have given your priest’s office unto you as a service of gift:
        and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

"And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation. Numbers 18:21

That also removes any modern cleric from imposing the tithe.

Some cuckoo has laid its egg in the Quail's nest: the metaphor is that the cucko hatches, kicks out the tiny Quail and mother keeps feeing the parasite until it is twice her size. Since the loud noise was under the king and commanders of the army someone has been taken captive.
"Neither must the children of Israel henceforth come nigh the tabernacle of the congregation, lest they bear sin, and die. Numbers 18:22

THE MEANING OF PARASITES


Because God had abandoned Israel to "worship the starry hosts" we understand that the Levites became a burden and not a blessing to the nation. The word "parasite" derives from the sacrificial servants.  Why dispute that since God turned them over to worship the starry host instead of the God of Hosts:

Parasītus (parasitos, “table companion”). A word which among the Greeks denoted originally the priest's assistant, who, like the priest, received his support from the offerings made to the temple, in return for certain services. These services included the collection and care of supplies of corn due to the temple, assistance at certain sacrifices, and the preparation of the banquets connected with [p. 1175] certain festivals. The assistants of civil officials, who were maintained at the expense of the State, were also called parasites in many places. The word received another meaning in the Middle and New Greek comedy, where it means the hanger on, who plays the flatterer and buffoon, with a view to getting invited to dinner. The parasite was transferred as a standing character to the Roman imitations of Greek comedy, and figures largely in the plays of Plautus. "Hear, ye Styacs, vendors of twaddle, hypocritical mouthers of words who alone by yourselves gobble up everything on the platters before a wise man can get a share, and then are caught doing the very opposite of what you solemnly chant;" oglers of boys you are, and in that alone emulating the founder of your philosophy, Zeno the Phoenician, who never resorted to a woman, but always to boy-favourites.

Wolves taking over the flock is a parable for homosexuals. Paul warned NOT to let the dogs into the worship.

they erected a desolating sacrilege upon the altar of burnt offering.

Notice in verse 59 that this desolating sacrilege could be another altar placed upon the regular altar for burnt offerings.

"It was probably usual to welcome a king or general with music and dancing...The distinctly religious dance is more frequently mentioned. The clear instances of it in the Bible are the dance of the women of Israel at the Red Sea, headed by Miriam with her tambourine (Exodus 15:20); the dance of the Israelites round the golden calf (Exodus 32:19); the dance of the maidens of Shiloah at the annual feast (Judges 21:19 ff);

the leaping or limping of the prophets of Baal round their altar on Carmel (1 Kings 18:26); and the dancing of David in front of the ark (2 Samuel 6:14-16) (Int. Std. Bible Ency., p. 1169-70)

The sacrificial system was imposed on the Levites as a curse or burden.
Num 18:23 But the Levites shall do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation,
        and they shall bear their iniquity:
        it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations,
        that among the children of Israel they have no inheritance.

That this was a curse:

Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, mine anger and my fury shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched. Jeremiah 7:20

They burned infants to the beat of instruments in 2 Chron 28 just before the PURGE and EXORCISM and in chapter 30 just AFTER Hezekiah's ceremony SOLELY to get the priests to return to Jerusalem to help defend it.

Amos 5:27 Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity
beyond Damascus, saith the LORD, whose name is The God of hosts.

This was the sentence conditionally imposed because of musical idolatry at Mount Sinai.  Canaan as the promised land became the Killing Fields as God let the kings lead them into captivity and death.


Furthermore, all of the performing arts are identified as the Hypocritic arts
and because they produced nothing good and caused lots of destruction of morals they were called PARASITES.

Why are people so anxious to impose the CURSE  of hypocrites and parasites.

The False preachers also missed that the Spirit OF Christ spoke ONLY through the prophets: it is a lie that the "holy spirit" guided the elders and preachers to lie about all of the Bible. The prophets thought that the kings, our princes, our priests, and  our fathers were lawless parasites. 

So the children went in and possessed the land, and thou subduedst before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, and gavest them into their hands, with their kings, and the people of the land, that they might do with them as they would. Neh 9:24

And they took strong cities, and a fat land, and possessed houses full of all goods, wells digged, vineyards, and oliveyards, and fruit trees in abundance:

That is THE meaning of having a Senior Pastor set over you with no Biblical nor common sensical justification.

Balatro

A professional jester, buffoon, or parasite. In spite of the difference of quantity, balatro is probably connected with balare (to bleat like a sheep) and hence, to speak foolishly. It is donbtless also akin to blatero, a chatterer (Gell.i. 15). Balatrones were paid for their jests, and the tables of the wealthy were generally open to them for the sake of the amusement they afforded. See Scurra; Parasitus.

In NONE of the examples used as proof does the "congregation" involve the righteous "civilian" population: the kings called the priests, warrior musicians, trumpet blowers, civil leaders and "representatives" from the tribes called stationary men.

Certainly less than one tenth of the "profit of food from free farms" was used by the tribe of Levi to carry out the "Worship of the Starry Host" at the Tabernacle.  I suppose someone just missed "they have no inheritance."

There will be hostility between the Civil-Priestly parasitic class and the prophets directed by the Spirit OF Christ to rebuke them specificially associating MUSIC with telling God to shut His Mouth.  The fatal fall was in building a HOUSE which fulfilled the destruction of the nation

God warned that with the kings and temples the people would be fleeced of their tithes.

A musical instrument is defined as a machine for doing hard work primarily in producing panic in warfare the the same SHOCK to fleece religious or superstitious people. When you see the musical-clergy classes sitting in the Holy Place (typical of the Church) you will know that this is the Abomination of Desolation.  Both the "priests" and "musicians" intrude into the Most Holy Place for which both would have been executed in the temple PATTERNISM used by false teachers.

There is no "proof" Mark Henderson will offer which does not intend to impose this prophesied Abomination of Desolation which in the first instance in Jerusalem let pigs, singers, prostitutes and sodomites into the Holy Place (church) and Most Holy Place--our Spirit where God meets us one at a time in holy reverence and godly fear.

This heresy of trying to JUSTIFY instruments when they are the universal MARK of shutting God's mouth began in 1878 when the Disciples recognized the discord they had created but still planning to "take Tennessee for the Society and Organ party within 5 years." Their use of PSALLO found them repudiated by the scholars.  Just about one century later the Stone-Campbell Movement--having sected out of the Disciples--sought to take captive the non-instrumental churches. 

They could have seen that Paul put the "melody" in the place of the human spirit which is the only place God seeks our worship.  Further, the parallel word in Colossians 3 is GRACE.  We might assume that the word psallo never belonged in Ephesians 5 because it is never used to mean melody and Paul guided by the Spirit OF Christ had words which DID include the instrument:

Jesus cast out the musical minstrels 'like dung' and consigned the pipers, singers and dancers to the marketplace FROM WHICH the "psallo rope" drove the slackers to the Ekklesia for verbal instruction only.  That is because all of the singers with instruments were known as parasites.

Now, tell us that the Spirit OF Christ or Paul was so stupid that he did not know HOW to define singing AND playing in the external sense. In the HEART is a place.

For those labeling others as "legalists," a musical instrument is defined as "a machine for doing hard work" or for producing shock and awe in warfare orreligious spectacles intended to help the "gods" punish you--and pay them too.

The Siren Call of the NACC recruits a few "already convinced" to represent the ANTI-instrumental people and then agree with THEM. Getting on their lecture circuit is strong pressure.  If music is an optional issue one wonders why there has been such an effort to turn churches instrumental when they know that it will deliberately sow discord. The need to be affirmed in the instrumental sect does not indicate confidence in their position.

You might look at David Faust's material on the Temple.  We have done a rough outline to prove that because of musical idolatry at Mount Sinai and the later demand for a human pastor to let them live and worship like the nations, God abandoned them to the worship of the starry host.  Therefore, what is used as LEGALISTIC PATTERNISM is the polluted worship of all Temple States. Furthermore, the message is that while you are singing, clapping and playing music and driving away all of the calm and peaceable people, you are STARVING them for lack of the Word. That is the message of Amos and Isaiah.

Both the Sabbath--meaning REST--and the Greek PAUO--meaning REST--are explicit in silencing all of those acts including arousal singing, playing instruments and all of the performing arts. In fact, a demagogue is defined as appeasing the masses using the performing arts.  Not surprising since the Greek definitions and John in Revelation 18 call them sorcerers.  The Biblical and historical messages is that music proves that you are using force to teach something which could not be taught by the Word.  Even if the motives are good, AIDING God through human effort is the meaning of legalism.

Commenting on the Willow Creek patternism adopted by some church growth cults:
It is interesting to see that the "art of the goddesses"
        is also being used today in a psychological manner; even in the church.
This is seen especially in The Church Growth Movement. For instance, CGM forerunner Bill Hybels of Willow Creek Community Church
[a church into using drama and music to reach people] says,
        1.  "A person's resistance to persuasion is very high when spoken to...

        2.  but very low when exposed to drama and music. We communicate truth through the back door.
       
3.  People don't even know it's happening." Daily Herald, May 18, 1988.
That is why the Mother of Harlots (Rev 17) uses the lusted-after fruits as rhetoricians, singers and musicians a sorcerers (Rev 18).

Why, pray tell, would the Church of Christ endure such abuse and efforts at hostile takeovers if they did not believe that MAKING MUSIC in the "school of the Bible" was a violation of direct commands and just common decency? No group has endured more hate crime--often at the hands of those they feed--than those STRANGE creatures whose practices are said to be that of "an ignorant, southern, rednecked mentality."  Why do you suppose people are so psychologically threatening in trying to deny people the liberty they claim to preach?

I appologize but not QUITE when I test the spirits of those who claim to speak for God because of some spiritual superiority.  Because the defense has no chronological meaning, I will just look at the arguments as they come.

I appreciate Lynn’s opening remarks, and I can tell you that I have looked forward to

Many of you struggled with the “what” of an instrumental worship service because you didn’t know the “why” behind it, and I am hopeful that our time together these next few weeks will answer some questions and clear up some confusion. More than that, I hope it will help us pull together with a sense of excitement that God really is up to something good in this church family.
God was really up to something good when he gave us the WARNING  PATTERNISM of abandoning Israel to the worship of the starry host (Acts 7 and a host of other passages) "because of transgression" at Mount Sinai which was musical idolatry. When the elders [often the elders] fired God and demanded a "national" leadership and worship we understand that to be the Canaanite Baalism spread from Babylon to Egypt from whence God said Israel brought their "abominations."  Ecclesiasticus--in the volume Jesus quoted from--insists and the Bible defends the fact that God selected the kings to enable their captivity: He did not need to be fed, clothed, housed and sexually stimulated like the "gods."
Because God abandoned them to the worship of the starry host--that which they brought from Egypt--we know that this was the same Dionysus or "new wineskin" worship.  How can we doubt Plutarch.

Plutarch: And I suppose that their Sabbaths have some relation to Bacchus; for even now many call the Bacchi by the name of Sabbi, and they make use of that word at the celebration of Bacchus's orgies. And this may be discovered out of Demosthenes and Menander. Nor would it be out of place, were any one to say that the name Sabbath was given to this feast from the agitation and excitement which the priests of Bacchus display

That is why the national system--just like the pagans they prayed to imitate--used the same functionaries:

"We even have a mention at a later date of a similar custom in connection with the cult in Jerusalem, where certain Levites, called me'oreim, 'AROUSERS,' sang (every morning?) this verse from-"Ps 44:23: "Awake, O Lord! That is why God quarantined the civilians to the SYNAGOGUE, Qahal or church in the wilderness which outlawed music as the Synagogue children always understood. 
The musical failure in Job 21, Amos 5-8 and Isaiah 5 produced Bible starved and they were led into captivity and death.  The Qahal, synagogue or "church in the wilderness" was QUARANTINED from the pagan-like sacrificial system. Some first days and all seventh days they RESTED, read and rehearsed the WORD--just what Jesus exampled and Paul commanded and the historic church practiced.  No Israelite ever did singing with instrumental accompaniment as "worship."  No Jew ever had music in a synagogue until the year 1815 when thatsynagogue was divided.  No Catholic ever did congregational singing with organ accompaniment. The organ did preludes, intermissions and recessionals: the Psalms are not metrical and cannot be sung to instrumental accompaniment without rewriting them: adding to or taking away.
Mark Henderson: The instrumental music issue is just one piece of a larger picture that has been coming together for leadership over the past several months.
As we faced the reality of a gradually declining membership and sharply declining conversion statistics, our response was to say, “The status quo is unacceptable.
We don’t know exactly what the future holds, but we do know that we will not keep doing what we have been doing and just hope for different results.” Monte Stephens got his vision that we called “Tearing Down Walls” or “Removing Barriers,” and we started looking seriously at the things we do that create barriers between each other and that present barriers to people who are disconnected from church and from God.
Most instrumental churches have led the way was the heresy of a "musical worship team" to be the mediators and "lead" worship. This gagges lots of people and they just get sick and leave the "theater for performing arts" that used to be "school of the Bible."

I would first think about firing the preachers who caused the loss of member refusing to pay for the "staff infection" the senior imposes while deposing the vocational elders and deacons and song leaders.

Mark identifies the discord in 1991 over "musical worship teams." This is such an outrage and the music and persona of theatrical performers treating the body as audience was bound to attact all of the loose ends who never pay their way and move on.  The mature, straight, sector may not know what is happening but they don't like it.

Why introduce more barriers as stumbling blocks to the "owners" of the church?  How many thousands are driven away in time when you drive away just one family.  The church growth fad is a cult: Jesus didn't send anyone out to build an INSTITUTE.  There is not a jot or tittle about the "music as worship" concept which is not ANTI-biblical and ANTI-Christian. 

The qualifications for an elder who was pointed out or identified was that "he was already laboring to the point of exhaustion in preaching in teaching." The ROLE was to "teach that which HAD been taught and refute those who opposed it."   The "synagogue" in Romans 15 even if we call ADO singing or music in the modern sense, the directly commanded resource was to use one mind and one mouth to teach one another with "that which is written." Peter identified what was left for our memory as a face-to-face revelation and identified anyone who would teach otherwise as a false teacher: 

When you begin innovating or improvising you violate direct commands against adding or aiding God. That is why when FAILURE results people "crack away" and fall back to the archaic superstitions: for instance the Peyote Cult on the frontier after the destruction native worship.  Praise singing was always to appease or even threaten the "gods." Quoting Joseph Campbell and the Myths People Live By.  From the Britannica proving that musical instruments are MACHINES for compelling some work product: i.e. THE meaning of legalism:

Of Ceremonial objects: On occasion, objects have been used to compel the sacred (or divine) realm to act or react in a way that is favourable to the participants of the ceremonies or to the persons or activities with which such rituals are concerned, or to prevent the transcendent realm from harming or endangering them.

These objects thus can be mediatory devices to contact the divine world,
        as, for example, the drums of shamans (religious personages
        with
healing and psychic-transformation powers).
Conversely, they can be
mediatory devices used by a god or other supernatural being to relate to man in the profane realm.

They may also be used to ensure that a chief or sovereign of a tribe or nation achieves,
and is recognized to have, the status of divinity in cultic or community ceremonies.
        Of such a nature may be phallic cults.
You will remember that when the elders "fired" God and demanded a king like the nations (pagans) the KING was always considered the god or the AGENT of the god. 
"But were it evident, which it is not, either from this (2 Chron. 29:25) or any other place in the sacred writings, that instruments of music were prescribed by Divine authority under the law, could this be adduced with any semblance of reason that they ought to be used in Christian Worship? No..." (Adam Clark, Commentary, Vol. II, PP. 690-691).

"It was only permitted to the Jews as sacrifice was, for the heaviness and grossness of their souls. God condescended to their weakness, because they were lately drawn off from idols; but now, instead of organs, we may use our own bodies to praise him withal." (Chrysostom on Psa. 149, Vol. iii, p. 634).

"The instruments were used as worship to God and to give glory and elat to the earthly kingdom. They were tolerated by God as were many other things during this period, that he did not approve. The establishment of the kingdom itself was an act of rebellion against God" (David Lipscomb, Queries and Answers, pp. 226, 227, and Gospel Advocate, 1899, pp. 376, 377).
This was a motif or PATTERNISM which happens when a person seeks to dominate rather than serve people.  There is no history which denies that MUSIC and all of the performing arts (hypocrites) had no other purpose but to give GLORY to the 'tribal leader' and increase the fertility in new members (or lambs) as in all fertility cults.

H. Bamford Parke
in Of Gods and Men noting that the "laded burden" Jesus died to remove was "spiritual anxiety created by religious ceremonial." This anxiety can be like a drug high and therefore desirable but not productive.

"The development both of religion and of the arts can be traced back in a continuous line to the hunting era. The group ritual of the primeval tribesmen were the origin not only of all religious ceremonial, but also of the drama and of poetry and music, while magic gave birth to the visual arts." (Parkes, Henry Bamford, On Gods and Men, p. 30).

The laden burden Jesus outlawed was "spiritual anxiety created by religious ceremonial."

That is why words like musica, magica, cantus and exegetice are all defined as magical devices to control the "gods" or to extract more money out of the superstitious:
"Awed by the mysteries of his own spirit no less than by those of nature, primitive man was likely to attribute to divine influence any abnormal emotional state, whether above or below the usual level. Medicine men customarily went into states of trance in which they were believed to be in communication with the gods,

and many tribes supposed lunatics and sexual deviants to be divinely possessed.

"When tribes grew too large for effective co-operation (and inbred), they often became subdivided into smaller kinship groups (clans, sibs, gentes) which continued to regard each other as close allies. Government was exercised by individual chieftains assisted by councils of elders" (p. 26).

"In this fashion evey common tribal interest--the recurrence of the seasons, the increase of the food supply, successful hunting--was likely to become embodied in some regularly repeated ceremony, which usually included group dancing, singing, and feasting.

Besides enabling men to express, and thereby to allay, ANGER and ANXIETY, such ceremonies also promoted tribal UNITY and strengthened the loyalty of the individual to TRIBAL TRADITION,for the emotional excitement they aroused had the effect of breaking down the barriers between individuals and thus fusing all tribesmen into a collective whole. Meanwhile, whole systems of magical devices were gradually elaborated." (Parkes, p. 29)

Men like Machiavell have been used to define the SLOWNESS of the CHANGE MOVEMENT: that movement speaks the identical words used by Adolph Hitler in Mein Kampf.

In direct conflict with this superstitious ritualism, Jesus promised to build His ekklesia which in one form had existed as the Qahal or "church in the wilderness." John will call them a generation of vipers which identifies the Cainites or Kenites imported into Canaan when the faithful Jews would not perform in the perverted or crooked musical religion inside of the Holy Places in the temple.  Peter called them a crooked generation which identifies the same "skolion" singers and musicians of whom Paul warned "don't get drunk on wine" or as the secular literature reads: "Don't get fluted down with wine."  Jesus called the a generation of children pointing to the children as leaders of the chorus in the marketplace: pipers, singers and dancers.

The laded burden Jesus died to remove along with the burden laders is 'spiritual anxiety created by religious rituals." There is ONE statement of Jesus which REPUDIATES musical worship. The word PAUO like SABBATH or REST specificially outlaws music as the PRIMARY method of creating emotional excitement for no other reason but to BIND those 'goose clapping' to the Alpha Male of the tribe of which church is an example.

The SELF-pleasure Paul outlined in Romans 15 means "creation of mental excitement." Therefore, the New Testament--over and over--repudiates the LIBERTIES to provide musical entertainment.

Not using instruments is never a barrier: that is just fabricated with a hidden agenda which everyone has known about for a long time. Mark is simply following behind Max Lucado, Rick Atchley and the ORIGINAL band who had this as their DRIVEN PURPOSE.

All known evidence connects arousal singing and instruments to enchantments or sorcery used by the demagogue to appease the masses.
Mark Henderson:  We have considered and are still considering everything from the way our greeting ministry functions, to our programming and scheduling, to the insider religious language we use sometimes in classes and worship and in my sermons, and we also have considered our style of worship. As I said, the instrumental music decision is just one piece of a larger picture that involves our commitment to become more effective in our God-given mission to reach lost people and to grow saved people. I hope that larger picture will become clearer to you over the next few weeks and months.

The direct command of Jesus was for evangelists to GO and make disciples. Paul modeled and  declared that "if they will not work neither shall they eat" when speaking of the "many" who tried to hang on the new churches.

This sense of lostness is a sign that the existing order of Pastor Rule over the flock has reached its end prophesied when they divided the church in the first place. People are getting wise that people want all of the money for the INSTITUTE when they know that the only authority is for the DESTITUTE, which according to Paul includes the evangelist who reaches outward:

"Jingling, banging, and rattling accompanied heathen cults, and the frenzying shawms of a dozen ecstatic cries intoxicated the masses. Paul warned the Corinthians that, and we paraphrase, "fools love to be fooled." Therefore, when we turn Scripture on its head it is a supernatural sign to us that God is pouring out His wrath upon the "initiates" of new wine but old paganism. Beginning in the wilderness, God ordained the assembly or synagogue as SCHOOL OF THE BIBLE.  Paul used the word assembly to define a school of the Bible and EXCLUDED the diversities used in Romans 14.  Thomas Campbell defined church as "a school of Christ" and worship as "reading and musing the Word of God."

The other mission is given to the EVANGELIST who does not count baptisms or attendance: he must GO into all of the world and be a suffering servant who will never be honored by a university.

Mark Henderson: Next week, we’re going to take a look a number of biblical references that have to do with worship and the use of instruments. In our third session, the focus will be on how we move forward together as a unified body of believers
when it has become apparent that we have some sharp differences of opinion and preference among us.
The meaning of heresy or a sectarian is a "Demagogue who appeases the masses with the performing arts."  The word kleptomai is always associated and is the meaning of the self-pleasure or "mental excitement" Paul outlawed for the assembly.

Looking backward: Mark will not find a single mention of "music as worship" other than those utterly condemned by God and this includes the Israelite nation who had "fired" God and demanded the right to "'worship like the nations." John Chrysostom whom they use to prove that the fathers had nothing bad to say about music, like all Bible scholars, understood that the SYSTEM Mark Henderson wants to RESTORE was abandonment to pagan, musical idolatry:

So here: "Even the captivity impeaches the wickedness (which was the cause of the permission of sacrifice.")

I believe that Mark believes that he has been given authority to improvise a new style of worship and the elders have been intimidated.  We will quote Colossians 2 below.  However, the mortal sin of WILL WORSHIP is:
The Apostle uses the term will worship. This term comes from the Greek word ethelothreskeia (or-ia). The meaning as given by Vines is: 'ethelothre skeia (or -ia) G1479), “will-worship” (ethelo, “to will,” threskeia, “worship”), occurs in Col. 2:23, voluntarily adopted “worship,” whether unbidden or forbidden, not that which is imposed by others, but which one affects.' Source: Vine's Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words: Edition: First:

G1479 ethelothrēskeia eth-el-oth-race-ki'-ah From G2309 and G2356 ; voluntary (arbitrary and unwarranted) piety, that is, sanctimony: will worship.
The Church of Christ does not use "the law of silence" (should not) because it practices the univerally, Bible ordained system in all church ages. The command is to SPEAK that which is written. This was not tuneful in our modern sense.

The Bible establishes the law of silence in repudiating adding to God's WILL.  We have posted a series on the CENI principle which everyone uses in one form or another. When Jubal handled musical instruments the word handled has a sexual connotation and means WITHOUT WARRANT.

No musical worship was commanded in the Old Testament because only those who bowed or fell on their face are said to have worshipped. The Levitical Warrior Musicians made a great crashing noise but the are not said to have worshipped

Jubal used musical instruments WITHOUT WARRANT: therefore, the first human use of instruments was by the Cain family and was WILL WORSHIP.

THIS means that somone IMPROVISES from subject opinion. It is either UNBIDDEN or FORBIDDEN.  Adding instruments is really forbidden but at least UNBIDDEN: that means that adding instruments without authority is WILL WORSHIP.  

Paul OUTLAWED sharp diversities in Romans 14 and said "we will NOT even discuss them." All of the sects in Rome were highly addicted to vocal and instrumental music. By defining the SYNAGOGUE in Romans 15 Paul almost guaranteed that there would never be a MASS meeting. Self pleasing or placenta specificially defines all of the performance speaking, singing and music: Paul says NO! we will speak "that which is written" with one mind and one mouth to edify, glorify God, comfort with scripture and PREVENT the division now being sown by violating the commands.

Take our look at our vast collection of INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC in worship: always points to perverted religionists doing IMPURE religion. Honesty would answer all questions and not just by those afraid of losing their insider status which is threatened. 

Part Two.
Mark Henderson: Today, I want to start out focusing on the “why” question. What is the rationale that supports the elders’ decision to add an instrumental worship service? I’m going to list several factors that contributed to the decision. They aren’t in any particular order of importance, except that I’ll save the two reasons that carried the greatest weight for last.

Reasons to Add an IM Worship Service:
The first reason on your handout is

We talked about evolution during our sermon last week, and this is an area
where there has been an evolution of belief
in the majority of Churches of Christ during the last thirty years or so.
There are hundreds of churches suffering discord because of the effort of Mark and friends, but I doubt that more than half a dozen have "gone all the way" and added instruments.  While it is hard to engage preachers in the history of the Israelites and their various musical falls from grace, the internet has enabled us to go into all the world and inform people that the "musical madness" attacking most religious groups is hostile and destructive.  I have had mail from two Christian Church preachers who have abdicated and moved on.  I am sure that there are many more who do not approve of deliberate lying TO God and ABOUT God to further the hidden agenda of a few.

The separation of the BAD GUY (ANTI-instrumentalists) from the GOOD GUYS (prefer a capella) I believe was invented by A. Ralph Johnson who waxes violent:

I recognize that most anti-instrumentalists are wise enough to reject many of the really outrageous ones.
I do not wish to
blame all for the folly of a few.

Dwaine E. Dunning: There are at least three ways to kill a tree.
You can poison it, or burn it. It might not survive if all the limbs were lopped off.
But men usually choose to kill a tree by cutting down its trunk.
We take an axe or saw to it not far above the roots and "fell" that tree.

Likewise a system of doctrine may be destroyed in various ways. It might be poisoned (or sweetened in this case) by injecting a different spirit into those who hold the doctrine.

Or its various contentions may be individually or specifically refuted,
like lopping off a tree's branches one by one.

They repeat the mantra over and over that the ANTI-instrumental position is wrong, divisive and 'YOU are loosers.'  Machiavelli has been used by Rubel Shelly to explain why it takes so long th CHANGE people/ and HITLER"S SEEKER system with the GREAT DEMONSTRATION is used to PROVE that if you do not CONFORM then you are out of step with the MAJORITY OF CHURCHES OF CHRIST.  After John identified the Mother of Harlots (Rev 17) he spoke of the FRUITS people lust after. Fruits have always been FRUITS and Amos identified the dogs or catamites with the FALL of Israel. The FRUITS took away the WORD from those so they were led captive being hungry and thirsty.  John called the false speakers, singers and instrument players SORCERERS.  How could anyone let a false preacher make them so blind and then bring in the dogs and sorcerers.
Rev 21: 6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
Rev 21: 7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

Rev 21: 8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

THESE will be identified as the SECTARIAN HYPOCRITES of preachers who just PERFORM but are not faithful, singers, musicians, "theater builders and stage managers," grinders (prostitutes) one and all.

Rev 21:9 And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will show thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.

If there has been an EVOLUTATION it is because the Stone-Campbell Movement began about 30 years ago by the CHRISTIAN CHURCH and the NACC in order to seduce dupes into helping them steal peaceable churches of christ.  Any literate Bible reader understands that music has always been the MARK of prostitute religion says Peter speaking of those who corrupt the Word.  

History notes that not even SINGING became an ACT until about the year 373 and that all known literature MARKS instruments as part of the pagan religionism where music, food and sex was their religion (Romans 14).
Mark Henderson: It is fairly simple to trace the evolution here at Quail. In the early days of the Village Church of Christ, like most other Churches of Christ we held an anti-instrument position. We believed that it was wrong to use instrumental music in any expression of praise or worship. It was not okay. It was a sinful, human innovation, so those denominations who used it worshiped in vain, and they were lost. When the congregation incorporated in 1961, one of the articles of incorporation said that part of our religious purpose was to reject “all creeds, innovations and devices of man, such as the use of mechanical instruments of music in connection with the worship,” and there were a few other things that we were supposed to reject.
While men like Leroy Garrett was "infiltrating" Christian colleges in the 1960s and cutting out important wolves, his promotion of the Stone Campbell Movement begun about the time Mark said we QUIT defending what we were hired to defend.  The Church of Christ was never part of the Disciples and refused to be counted in the denomination in 1906.  The NACC were still Disciples until about 1926 so the Christian Church and the Church of Christ never had the same roots.  Nevertheless they intend to RECAPTURE the Church of Christ.  Scholars know that they were not remotely similar in the beginning and any similarity has been the Christian Church conforming to the senior Church of Christ.

Click for the Stone-Campbell Denomination  which has picked off only a few churches of Christ preachers who were always favorable to instruments.

This can hardly be honesty called EVOLUTION.  Just like all mind manipulators down through the ages, people confessing the need for "change" have done SELECTIVE BREEDING.  If the bylaws outlawed instruments then it seems that someone is stealing from someone. Oh, I know, in postmodernism it is ok to lie "cause we gonna save more souls."  We know that the Catholics never did "singing with instrumental accompaniment" and define congregational singing as the ideal and claim that no one has authority for instruments. The Protestants cast the organs out of churches and even the Church of England voted to do so but were vetoed. None of the churches which fed into the Restoration Movement used instruments. THEREFORE, we know that it was an INNOVATION with no urge to justify the SECTARIANIZING influence.

Mark Henderson At some point, over the course of the next decade or so, WE moved from an anti-instrument position to a pro-a cappella position. We decided we were no longer going to treat this as a “salvation issue. We were no longer going to make judgments against others on this issue, but we also weren’t going to change anything we were doing. We went from “It’s not okay,” to “It may be okay for them, but not for us.”
The internet shows that Mark was out doing some "genetic engineering." He clearly misread the signs.

This was deliberately INDUCED by false preachers and there was no evolving. A form of psychological violence was used by associating the "anti-instrument position to an ignorant, southern, red-necked mentality." This is the message of Burgess, Knowles, Johnson, Dunning etal.  I have collected a long list of RACA words used by Rubel Shelly even though he never got his church to "go all the way."

The "it ain't no salvation issue" is one of the buzz or code words invented to make you feel guilty for violating direct commands and historic understanding. You step over the not to be tolerated line by CLAIMING that others are NOT being ekklesia or synagogue when they violate the direct OUTLAWING of such things in Romans 14 and defining the ekklesia in Romans 15 uses words which OUTLAW any creation of "mental excitement" and then defining the school of the Bible.  Men like Alfred T. Degroot led the way twisting the church fathers to conclude that the CHURCH OF CHRIST is not a CHURCH but a SECT.  Refuting Alfred T. DeGroot

Mark Henderson: Then, another shift occurred, and we evolved to a position where we said, “It’s okay for us, too, and we will use it everywhere except in our corporate worship assemblies.” It is okay for weddings and funerals. It’s fine, and we want to use it in children’s ministry and youth ministries. It’s okay if our people participate in and lead instrumental worship at Cross and Crown or at Freedom and Faith or at other activities, but we prefer to be a cappella only in our main assemblies. It isn’t wrong to use instruments there, but we’re not going to do it.
I believe in time, as Max Lucado promsied also, that instruments will go to the "main" assemblies and to the "campus" churches founded under the MOTHER CHURCH.

This is what Lynn Anderson calls Navigating the Winds of Change: it takes GRADUALISM to add instruments without getting fired.  It took Rick Atchley a decade or more but the mills grind finely.  Here is a condemnation of the THEATER used to "boil a frog" and keep him clapping:

Those who planned to restructure the WHOLE CHURCH deliberately planned to introduce the changes (worship teams) little by little as Mark has boasted about NOT teaching what the owners paid him to preach.

Hislop: If it be inquired what was the object and design of these ancient "Mysteries," it will be found that there was a wonderful analogy between them and that "Mystery of iniquity" which is embodied in the Church of Rome.

Their primary object was to introduce privately, by little and little, under the seal of secrecy and the sanction of an oath, what it would not have been safe all at once and openly to propound.

That beautiful but abandoned queen of Babylon was not only herself a paragon of unbridled lust and licentiousness, but in the Mysteries which she had a chief hand in forming,
she was worshipped as Rhea (Zoe), the great "MOTHER" of the gods, with such atrocious rites as identified her with Venus (Lucifer), the MOTHER of all impurity, and raised the very city where she had reigned to a bad eminence among the nations, as the grand seat at once of idolatry and consecrated prostitution.
So, while working with MUSICAL bonding meetings and ADDING little drops of poison step by step, they predictably imitate the Amos 5-8 and Isaiah 5 LEGALISTIC PATTERNISM of NOT teaching the truth for 25 years. That fits the patternism of the Stone-Campbell Movement organized to steal peaceable churches of Christ:

Our desire is to continue our tradition of excellent a cappella worship. We aren’t trying to subtract anything; we believe there is value in adding an instrumental option and that it is consistent with our beliefs on the subject to do so.
Both from Scripture and chemistry, when you put a drop of black acid into a glass of white milk it is NO LONGER milk but acid. Adding instruments (machines for doing hard work) we are told was never done by males unless they were "drunk, perverted or just having fun."

That's what Max Lucado and all who get their "fiddle" in the door claimed. That means that we will tolerate you as we quoted Johnson.
I recognize that most anti-instrumentalists are wise enough to reject many of the really outrageous ones. I do not wish to blame all for the folly of a few.
Praise worship is one of those deliberate DIVERSIONS making you believe that the most ancient, superstitious, illiterate and legalistic systems known to mankind is what God commanded.  Praise Singing is again part of the end time Babylonianism: the theory was that by using emotionally and sexually abnormal "prophesiers" you could appease or threaten thee gods into giving you rain or more lambs.  You can GLORIFY God (Rom 15) in a collective sense only by telling God's story using "that which is written."

Again, the LIE WORD: just our HERITAGE. These people love to say that the ANTI-instrumental position is just a DISEASE you caught from your ancestors.  The KNOW but will not TELL that music has been excluded by all literate Theologians because they KNOW that it is outlawed by the Bible. And there is NO rational for MUSIC when a church is faithful as the Campbells envisioned as a SCHOOL OF CHRIST. Common decency prevents decent people from making music when Jesus Christ meets as our only teacher.

This ANTI-instrumental position was invented by A. Ralph Johnson.  He agrees to TOLERATE those who just PREFER to NOT use instruments. However, for anyone to take the LIBERTY and condemn instrumental music he uses the ANTI- word.  This places them below the human level and they need to be hurt real bad.

Baptists churches were still SPLITTING over those who SECTARIANIZED by adding instrument later than 1900.  Many groups around the world still repudiate instrumental music. It is part of the HATE crime to claim that the ANTI-instrumentalists invented the theory just to be mean.
Mark Henderson: We believed it was God-honoring to explore new ways of thinking and new methods with Scripture alone as our guide, and we developed a reputation as a church where it was okay to explore and to ask questions. Because of those commitments, this became a safe place where people who had been divorced and some had remarried to come back to God and find healing and hope. That same commitment to openness led to the change in 1991 where we went from the individual song leader model to the praise team model. Secondly, there is no PRAISE RITUAL permitted in the ekklesia or synagogue or church of Christ.
The Laded Burden was "spiritual anxiety created by religious rituals." The word REST is PAUO Having the same meaning as SABBATH. The word PAUO is highly dedicated to mean "stop the speaking, stop the singing and stop the music."  Paul outlawed SELF-pleasing in Romans 15 with a wrod meaning to 'CREATE MENTAL EXCITEMENT' and directly connected to MUSIC as the method to actually produce a form of madness.  This word also OUTLAWS arousal singing, music and loud speaking: Jesus identified the HYPOCRITES by pointing to Isaiah and Ezekiel who MARKS slick speakers, singers and instrument players.

This COSTLY transition is what means DELIBERATELY SOWING DISCORD based on lies and therefore MARKS you as a  people GOD HATES.  Praise singing in groups is the oldest, most superstitious, paganistic, legalistic acts known from Cave Man 101a: it is LEGALISTIC because it proposes to HELP the gods.  It is legalistic because it is done for pay.  It is legalistic because a musical instrument is a MACHINE for doing hard work.

You may not like Paul's understanding the EVE message and you do not because you have EVOLVED a new form of teaching but you cannot be a Christian system and violate the direct commands of the Bible. It is always to enjoy "union" if you turn your coat and CONFORM to others: no Baptist or Christian Church preachers is going to be so unethical that he would surrender "his" church: my experience--as exemplified by Charles Spurgeon--is that they would NOT betray their congregation but would resign and join the Baptist. Yet, no preacher who has betrayed his church even as duped by the NACC could ever be hired by the Baptists or Christian Church.

The failure of Israel condemned by Amos is that they IMPROVISED:  Peter used the term "private interpretation" which means further expounding. The Bible is the only resource for song and sermon.  There is no demand for the church to have a GROWTH CULT. They are to REST from the pagan rituals, READ or SPEAK that which is written. That defines the school of the Bible or Ekklesia. Mark Henderson is speaking of a christianism INSTITUTE.

Mark Henderson: Of course, the ones who prefer instrumental worship will be blessed, but we believe the blessing will cover all of us, including those who prefer a cappella worship.
That sounds like the usual musical worship "leading us into the presence of God." That means to be THE mediator: can those who get all of the pleasure centers stroked and get a drugh high called "endorphins" REALLY COVER those whom you have deliberately DISCORDED/

Worship is only possible in the PLACE of the human spirit as opposed to PLACES such as the temple in Jerusalem or on Mount Gerezim.  You cannot worship with the WORKS of human hands: an instrument is a machine for doing HARD WORKS.


Minimal ethics is for a pro-instrumental preacher to LEAVE and find a church and not STEAL the church house of widows.
Those who PREFER  instrumental worship are not discipled as Christians and they should LEAVE and not sow discord.
Those who oppose instruments as outlawed and sinfulmay "tolerate" but they will never rise up and call you blessed. Charles Spurgeon searched but could not find a word to define a preacher who would believe one thing and get a DOLE from those who reject his believes.  They were beyond the pale of minimal human ethics and morality.
Mark Henderson: I have talked to preachers at Churches of Christ who are a few years ahead of us on this journey. Those who sought to maintain both styles of worship have done so with success, and I want to share with you what Milton Jones told me about their experience at the Northwest Church in Seattle. He said one of the nice surprises for him was a new sense of energy and vitality in their a cappella worship. He said it makes a difference when you sing a cappella because you want to and not because you have to. The elders and I hope we will experience a similar joy and vitality in both services as we encourage each other and bless each other in our freedom in worship.
Milton twisted Scriptures and all known facts, chased out the owners from pioneer families, refused to allow a deacon of 40 years to object and simply CONFISCATED the church.  The "energy" is probably because the owners were replaced by hippies attracted to the Light Rock and Roll instrumental services. Energy is WORK.  A musical instrument is designed to INCREASE WORK PRODUCT. That is seen in building the Temple.  But, grace allows you to accept the invitation of Jesus to come rest and learn.

Everett Ferguson takes note of this as have other visitors who were shocked at my old church which Milton--Barbie stole by the gradualism of a 'praise team' which is blasphemy claiming to lead you into the presence of God. So, Mark is not going to get any aid and comfort from Dr. Ferguson who watched what happened long after I left this church.
"The use of a so-called "praise team" has become common. The name itself calls for some comment: Is this the only function of the song service? The practice must be evaluated by its purposes, if these are worthy, then by how well it accomplishes these, and by the manner in which it conducts itself. My wife and I attended a church that had a group of male and female singers with microphones on the stage in front of the congregation leading the singing. What struck us as incongruous was that the table for the communion had been moved into the foyer out of sight, and the servers of the Lord's supper served from there, apparently to make room for the "praise team" to dominate the front of the assembly room. The symbolism sent a message I feel sure the congregation would not really want to send. I later read a comment that fit the situation: "The local stars who must always be placed where everyone can admire the way they feel the meaning of words."

Proving that the STARS are never as cute or talented as they believe, Dr. Ferguson quotes the reason the instruments MUST be added:

"The repertory of . . . `contemporary' songs needs all kinds of accompaniment props to keep it from collapsing.


Mark Henderson: These last two reasons are the most important to me because they are connected to our understanding of our mission and how we position ourselves for the future. The fourth reason to add an instrumental worship service is
I will bet that if you hire dirty dancers which always went with the religious musicians you could REALLY get a buzz!

This writer hired Milton Jones to be a campus minister in Seattle.
  He has lied, cheated and stolen the church house of widows. Many of them were left out in the cold and had to leave their church "family."  I have reviewed Milton Jones and he tells the same lies and knows nothing about the Bible context or story line.  Loud SANGING a capella speaks of the CASTRATOS the Pope imported to the Sistine Chapel. It has nothing to do with the command to SPEAK that which is written.  No doubt, those who see church as SELF-PLEASURE do a better job of those who still TEACH one another.  It is a fact that people feel COWED and do not participate when the PERFORMERS (Jesus defined as hypocrites) are PERFORMING.  No, doubt, being able to do THEIR OWN worship makes them feel free again.

Paul said nothing about SCRIPTURE killing. Paul was speaking of The Law of Moses. This was added BECAUSE of musical idolatry at Mount sinai.  Anyone who has read Acts 7 knows that the AMOS story speaks of a people ABANDONED to worship the starry host.  Jesus said MY WORDS are SPIRIT and LIFE.  Paul identified the WORD of Christ in Colossians 3:16 with the SPIRIT in Ephesians 5.

The yoke of bondage involved RELIGIOUS CEREMONIALS and keeping of days pointed to the BABYLONIANISM which was practiced at the temple in Jerusalem.  Music is known throughout the literature as a BURDEN: a SONG in Hebrew means BURDEN or musical refrain. Science knows that MUSIC induces endorphins and the FIGHT or FLIGHT or SEXUAL feeling.  This is a DRUG HIGH and a burden. Music was always know to ABRADE or HURT. The word PSALLO is derived from a word meaning to GRIND YOU INTO SMALL POWDER.  Music has always been LEGALISM and the synagogue or church in the wildernes RESTED and were free from Legalism.

The burden in Greek includes "laying by in store" as a LAW which Mark has not felt free to REMOVE yet.

The CLERGY hoped that John wore the SOFT clothing of a CATAMITE: male prostitute. Mark Henderson:  4. To allow more of our own to  stay
At Quail, we have already raised a generation that knows nothing of the anti-instrument arguments.
Based on the sermonizing and music team my guess is that the statement consistent with all modern education is that
We have raised a generation that knows nothing. That is how the leaders destroyed the people in Amos and Isaiah.
Mark Henderson:  We are including instruments in our children’s and youth ministries. We worship with instruments at Cross and Crown. Many of our young people and our adults spend hours each week listening to contemporary worship music on the radio and on CDs.

Music literally is a drug overdose and causes all kinds of anxieyt (Prozac thanks you) and mental problems. There is evidence that the music overload actually produces the FAT epidemic which American religionists have bequeathed to the world.

Mark Henderson:  I believe it is naïve to assume that our kids will grow up in that kind of musical environment and then transition to exclusively a cappella worship as adults, simply because that is our heritage. In an article published in 1997, Mac Lynn discussed reasons for the decline in membership and attendance in Churches of Christ. One of the key reasons he described as “the departure of a significant number of the younger generation. More of the younger generation appear to be attending other religious bodies than in past decades, when drop-outs tended not to align themselves with other churches.”

Even those highly musical churches have the same lament.  Maybe we should look backward to find the cause and fix it. Amos and Isaiah showed that the whole nation was lost because people hungered and thirsted for the Word and could not find it because of the singing and instruments.

Isn't there a difference in what we do at home or in the tavern and what we do "at church." All people believed that musical instruments had POWER and even treated them as idols: if you are willing to dispense with many "owners" don't you really worship music and musicians?  Even David tried to awaken his lyre so he could awaken the dawn: why not: he led a nation abandoned ot the worship of Astrial deities.  However, these Psalms were squashed by John Hyrcannus because they were identical to the pagan "awakening songs."

Hab 2: 19 Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise, it shall teach! Behold, it is laid over with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it.

Hab 2:20 But the LORD is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.

That is the direct command for the church in the wilderness and for the ekklesia where SPEAK is defined as "opposite poetry or music.."

It is called: "How to boil a frog." Why would not church be COUNTER CULTURAL rather than MUSICATE with those already braind damaged and WORD STARVED?  Kids also take DRUGS: why not spike the juice with LSD?  Music does give you a DRUG HIGH and the misleaders are probably HOOKED on sound which is addictive and destructive.

Other studies have proven that those who have added MUSICAL MEDIATORS have not grown as fast as the FAITHFUL churches.  My feedback is that Bible Study is what most parents want. One of my last churches built a mega theater without adding class capacity. It began to peak out when parents hated the lack of small class rooms.

I don't want to get personal but I know of no recorded history which does not connect religious musicians with effeminate or gender-confused people. That is the PERSONA and that is the high-pitched persona too many people want to replace Jesus to be mediator.  For instance, a basket for summer fruits is:

Paul commanded worship in the SPIRIT in contrast to IN THE FLESH because Jesus told him so.

FRUIT has always been FRUIT: this speaks of the CATAMITE or male homosexuals.  History notes that when a male sings and plays he is PERVERTED, drunk or just funning (sporting).  Not even at Jerusalem did singers and players enter into the Holy Place as a type of the body or church of Christ.  You have done what would never have been done in the vilest pagan temple.

Amos 8:3 And the songs of the temple shall be howlings in that day, saith the Lord GOD: there shall be many dead bodies in every place; they shall cast them forth with silence.

Not even pagan temples let singers or musicians into the Holy Place (type of church of Christ) even to clean out the garbage.

Lesson 2: Back to the Bible

Mark Henderson:  Last week we talked about the rationale for the elders’ decision to add an instrumental worship service, and we listed some fears that we have to address if we want to make this transition successfully. Today, we are going to go back to the Bible because that is one of the strengths of our heritage. We have always claimed to be--and in our better moments we are--a people of the Book.

If you have listened to Rick Atchley’s lessons entitled the Both/And Church, you will find a great deal of overlap between his second lesson and this one because both lessons focus on what the Bible has to say about music in worship. If you haven’t heard his lessons, we have five sets of DVDs available for you to check out, or you can access those messages through the Richland Hills web site. If you go online to watch or listen, it will be helpful for you to know that Rick presented his three lessons on December 3, 10, and 17. Rick was the preacher at Southern Hills in Abilene when I went to graduate school and attended church there in 1988-89. I am glad to consider him a friend, and he is one of the best preachers you will ever hear.

I have listened to Rick Atchleys three sermons: they are quite identical to his "handler" form the NACC, David Faust. I have covered most of the false teaching there and I recommend you plow through the material to prove that these men are deliberatelying lying about all of the Bible and church.  Rick Atchley or the other half dozen of those PLANING TO DECEIVE know the context or the story line. They just find 120 trumpets all making ONE SOUND or one NOTE and use that to prove that God COMMANDED INSTRUMENTAL PRAISE and it would be a SIN TO DISOBEY.  They will never know that this was part of national or Goyin--Babylonian, Canaanite--system to which God ABANDONED them to BECAUSE of musical idolatry at Mount Sinai.  They are deliberately RESTORING the end-time mother of harlots sorcery John warned about.

Click for David Faust's take on the temple: excuse the illustrations but they prove that the Monarchy was a curse added after the ELDERS fired God and hired a "dominant pastor."  The loud noise not called music requested God to SHUT DOWN access to His presence, the Word and Grace under the mercy seat.  God permitted David a tent, BUT, Solomon built Him a HOUSE, but God DOES NOT DWELL in church houses or worshipped by men's hands "clapping, waving, picking and grinning."

David Fausts is an agent for the NACC under the GUISE of unity. 
However, he is loaded with the same lies about every Bible statement and people like FHU was and is not prepared to meet the false arguments.  They have worked really hard to find PLANTS or dupes to help them lead churches of Christ into discord.

David Faust makes the same claim that Jesus had nothing negative
to say about instruments and MUST have approved the Temple worship.  Of course, Jesus DID promise to tear down the mega-church stone by stone.  Jesus spoke in parables to fool the foolish clergy who had no right to know. All of those harps and harpists were burned up on a bed of MAGGOTS

Rich Atchley: primarily to DEBUNK his and Mark Henderson's thesis that the elders have a right to CHANGE the law. 

Mark Henderson: I spent a considerable amount of time with the elders and staff dealing with the main anti-instrument arguments that have been the basis for our exclusively a cappella practice in Churches of Christ. I’m only going to do a little bit of that today, but starting next Sunday, I will have that other presentation in the form of a paper that will be available to anyone who wants it.

Well, we know that he went to the Christian Church false teachers to get his proof texts which are contrary to ALL KNOWN facts. If they TRUSTED him and he LIED about God and to God then woe on them for not knowing better.  Those who keep on doing what churches known as "the Church of Christ" have always done and always repudiated as pagan those who added instruments do not have TO PROVE ANYTHING.  Rather, those who PLAY to sow discord have the burden of proving that GOD WANTS instrumental music.  Faithful Christians do not have to PROVE ANYTHING.  Most of the "reasons" he gives are gleaned by Johnson and have nothing to do with the clear teaching of the Bible.

Mark Henderson:  Before we take a look at a number of biblical passages today, I want to outline some Beginning Assumptions: These will set the table for the approach that I am taking today.

First, I am starting with the assumption that The New Testament church had no New Testaments The New Testament was being written, copied and distributed during the last half of the first century. The earliest indication that we have of the formation of a New Testament canon is the Muratorian Fragment dating to about 180. We do not have

We know that the letters were circular letters and that God would not leave the church without an EXAMPLE for us to follow: this means an written record. Mark has no clue about who had what.  

Doesn't matter
: anyone who is Old Testament literate knows that INSTRUMENTS are the MARK of those who tell God to SHUT YOUR FACE. Instruments are SOURCED from Lucifer or Satan and scholars know that the ONLY tradition is that instruments were used by the DEVIL to bleed off worship of God.  Quotations indicated that Jesus had a copy of the LXX which has the Aprophal writings many of which make the INSTRUMENT FROM SATAN clear.  No one could have read about the church in the wilderness without knowing that music was outlawed and there is NO VIOLATION of that in the synagogue where the PEOPLE met.   Ignatius knew John and defined speaking the Biblicl Text.

Most of the New Testament is quoted by early writers ALL of whom repudiated the musical practices of the pagans. Even "out of church" believers could be seduced by the mind altering music which always led ot perversion. For instance, Justin Martyr born 110 wrote:

We show below that any literate Jewish kid knew that there was NO PRAISE SERVICE IN THE SYNAGOGUE.  This is based on the direct command for the qahal, synagogue or church in the wilderness. It was based on the universal practice that the SYNAGOGUE quarantined the people from the Babylon-based WORSHIP SERVICES. The Military-Civil state had their LIKE other nations TEMPLE not for worship but for the sacrificial system which supplied the vast tribe of Levi with food.

Secondly, any person would know that MUSIC would mark the church as identical to the pagan temples: when Paul warned that they would look MAD the scholars don't know the meaning that music was USED to drive people into an altered state (sorcery says John) to sell the idea that they had brought the "gods" or demons into their presence: this is the same claim as "musical praise teams."

There was no culture and we know for a historical fact that singing was added about the year 373.
All of the churches had evangelists and writing and publishing was  a COMMON practice of the Scribes.
We have the historical record of Justin about 150 and Clement of Alexandria radically condeming the MUSICAL festivals even OUTSIDE OF CHURCH. 

Skipping some of the theology.

Mark Henderson: So with those basic assumptions, I want to note some Insights about Instrumental Praise from the Old Testament: What can we learn about worship music reading the Bible of the earliest Christians? The first thing I want to note is that 1. God did not just allow it; he commanded it. This is an important point because some of the folks in our fellowship who promote the anti-instrument position argue just the opposite.

David Faust: I . In the Old Testament the Lord didn't merely "permit" the use of musical instruments as aids to worship. He commanded their use.

A preacher in another town called me to challenge me on this subject a few years ago because he objected to our worship night activities, and he said that God allowed the people to use instruments even though he didn’t want them or approve of them. It was in the same category as divorce, which God allowed because of the hardness of their hearts, and giving the people a king because they demanded one.

In the same way, God allowed David and the others to worship with instruments, but it did not reflect his will or his desire for them. Let’s see what the text actually says.

But, using another preacher for BACKUP or straw man will not turn the trick.  God ALLOWED the people to get a King, the Monarchy, the Temple and the Sacrificial system but He NEVER commanded them. These were VIOLATIONS of God's plan and the ELDERS were the cause of the fall at that time.  David was KING and military leader and all of the instrumental psalms are panic songs or threats.  Praise does not mean worship but to "make yourself vile" to threaten the enemy.

When they rose up in MUSICAL IDOLATRY at Mount Sinai God sentenced them back to Babylon because they would never repent of the musical and perverted religionsim.  Perhaps a dozen passages in the Old Testament and Stephen in Acts 7 says that God TURNED THEM OVER TO WORSHIP THE STARRY HOST. This was the Sabazianism or DIONYSUS worship they had practiced in Egypt under various forms and that of Egypt and Babylon and the Canaanites.  Jerusalem is equated to SODOM and EGYPT.

THE WORSHIP OF THE STARRY HOST MARK IS TRYING TO RESTORE.

Rick Atchley and others note that the church fathers, John Chrysostom which we quoted above have nothing negative to say about instruments. This is selective and twisted reading and constitutes a lie.  Chrysostom and all Bible students know that the Monarchy and sacriificial system was a CURST imposed as part of their new Babylonianism

Iamblichus wrote Of the Hebrew Kadeshim and the Eleusinian. Thus "Bacchus was directly called upon," he says. The Sabazian worship was Sabbatic; the names Evius, or Hevius, and Luaios are identical with Hivite and Levite. The French name Louis is the Hebrew Levi; Iacchus again is Iao or Jehovah; and Baal or Adon, like Bacchus, was a phallic god. "Who shall ascend into the hill (the high place) of the Lord?" asks the holy king David, "who shall stand in the place of his Kadushu [[Heb char]]"? (Psalms xxiv. 3). Kadesh may mean in one sense to devote, hallow, sanctify, and even to initiate or to set apart; but it also means the ministers of lascivious rites (the Venus [ZOE, Lucifer] -worship) and the true interpretation of the word Kadesh is bluntly rendered in Deuteronomy xxiii. 17; Hosea iv. 14; and Genesis xxxviii., from verses 15 to 22. The "holy" Kadeshuth of the Bible were identical as to the duties of their office with the Nautch-girls of the later Hindu pagodas.

The Hebrew Kadeshim or galli lived "by the house of the Lord, where the women wove hangings for the grove," or bust of Venus-Astarte [Ishtar, Easter], says verse the seventh in the twenty-third chapter of 2 Kings.

As qadesh is an epithet, not a name, it is not clear which Canaanite goddess She is. She may be an aspect of either ´Asherah, `Anat, or `Ashtart or She may represent a combination of ´Asherah, `Anat, and `Ashtart. While scholars today sometimes confuse the various goddesses, it is clear that in the past, in fact, these goddesses were concatenated as well, a single goddess emerging were previously there had been two or three.

The dance performed by David round the ark was the "circle-dance" said to have been prescribed by the Amazons for the Mysteries. Such was the dance of the daughters of Shiloh (Judges xxi. 21, 23 et passim), and the leaping of the prophets of Baal (I Kings xviii. 26). It was simply a characteristic of the Sabean worship, for it denoted the motion of the planets round the sun. That the dance was a Bacchic frenzy is apparent. Sistra were used on the occasion, and the taunt of Michael and the king's reply are very expressive. "The king of Israel uncovered himself before his maid-servants as one of the vain (or debauched) fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself." And he retorts: "I will play (act wantonly) before  , and I will be yet more vile than this, and I will be base in my own sight." When we remember that David had sojourned among the Tyrians and Philistines, where their rites were common; and that indeed he had conquered that land away from the house of Saul, by the aid of mercenaries from their country, the countenancing and even, perhaps, the introduction of such a Pagan-like worship by the weak "psalmist" seems very natural. David knew nothing of Moses, it seems, and if he introduced the Jehovah-worship it was not in its monotheistic character, but simply as that of one of the many gods of the neighboring nations--a tutelary deity to whom he had given the preference, and chosen among "all other gods." God did not PERMIT them to be pagans to CORRECT them but to DESTROY THEM and He did. The story of Amos and others shows that the kings were to take them INTO SLAVERY including the TITHE and lots of instrumental boys.

Because they had not executed my judgments, but had despised my statutes, and had polluted my sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers idols. Eze 20:24

Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, and judgments whereby they should not live; Eze 20:25

Of the Millions at the time only about 50,000 came out of that captivity and death and most of them deserted the temple and the faithful turned ot the synagogue.

So, why does God permit one to COMMAND that we FALL into the same polluted paganism which destroyed the Israelite nation?

THE CURSE OF KING, KINGDOM, TEMPLE, SACRIFICIAL SYSTEM

HERE IS WHAT THEY WANTED TO BE RELEASED FROM GOD AND HIS WORD TO "WORSHIP LIKE THE NATIONS."

"In the cultic practices, humans fulfilled their destiny: to take care of the gods' material needs. They therefore provided the gods with houses (the temples) that were richly supplied with lands, which people cultivated for them.

The Tithe was added to support the priestly and civil authorities when Israel rose up to play in musical, perverted worship of the Egyptian Triad. The "lay by in store" has been DIVERTED to support the neo-Babylonian religion.

This, incidentally, defines the Cainites Moses used to warn the Israelites who HAD FALLEN from grace. Jubal HANDLES musical instruments WITHOUT AUTHORITY.

"In the temple the god was present in--but not bounded by--a
statue made of precious wood overlaid with gold. For this statue the temple kitchen staff prepared daily meals from victuals grown or raised on the temple's fields, in its orchards, in its sheepfolds, cattle pens, and game preserves, brought in by its fishermen, or delivered by farmers owing it as a temple tax. The statue was also clad in costly raiment, bathed, and escorted to bed in the bedchamber of the god, often on top of the temple tower, or ziggurat.

To see to all of this the god had priests trained as cooks, bakers, waiters, and bathers, or as encomiasts (singers of praise) and musicians to make the god's meals festive, or as elegists to soothe him in times of stress and grief.

"The rectangular central shrine of the temple, known as a 'cella,' had a brick altar or offering table in front of a statue of the temple's deity. The cella was lined on its long ends by many rooms for priests and priestesses. These mud-brick buildings were decorated with cone geometrical mosaics, and the occasional fresco with human and animal figures. These temple complexes eventually evolved into towering ziggurats.

"The temple was staffed by priests, priestesses, musicians, singers, castrates and hierodules (including Temple Prostitutes or ministers even in Jerusalem for long periods). Various public rituals, food sacrifices, and libations took place there on a daily basis. There were monthly feasts and annual, New Year celebrations [Jews did that]. During the later, the king would be married to Inanna as the resurrected fertility god Dumuzi..." [Ezekial defines the Sun Rise service]

Asherah: Queen of Heaven, Ashtoreth, Athirat, Astarte, and Ishtar. Her "male" priestesses were known as kelabim, the faithful "dogs" of the Goddess, who practiced divinatory arts, danced in processions, and served as hierodules, qedeshim, in the company of other priestesses. Goddess worship were largely erased in a cultural purge c. 630 BCE by King Josiah.....
 
To be a cappella, the musical priests must be EMASCULATED.  This, as alluded to by Paul, meant self-castration under the influence of singing, dancing and playing instruments.  Let the "sisterhood" know when you plan your next moveon.

WHEN THE ELDERS FAIL AS TEACHERS AND HIRE A DOMINANT PASTOR GOD ABANDONES YOU:

Chapter 10 defines the curses which will befall the people and God WILL NOT listen to them again.

The great Cambridge scholar, Henry McKeating, has the following comment on this passage from Hosea:

"Hosea is not only antagonistic to the northern kings but to the monarchy as such. The monarchy is powerless to save the nation. Israel was wrong to ask for a king. Her punishment was that she got what she asked." 7: Henry McKeating, Amos, Hosea, and Micah (Cambridge: University Press, 1971), p. 148.

"Like most of the aspects of Israel's religion, the institution of the priesthood suffered injury as a result of the conquest of Canaan. The Levites did not retain possession of most of their allocated cities and were forced to wander about the country (Judg. 17:7; 19:1; I Sam. 1:1). More serious was the theological impact of Canaanitish religious practices Even faithful Gideon came to feel no qualms about assuming to himself certain of the priestly functions; for he made an ephod, the priests' surplice that was decked with gold (Exod. 28:6-15), and employed it for a worship which was contrary to the law (Judg. 8:24-27). Eli's sons became so corrupt (I Sam. 2:12) that the line of Eli, which seems to have been that of Aaron's fourth son Ithamar, was cursed of God (vv. 30-36). Saul then slaughtered both the priests (I Sam. 22:18) and the temple slaves (II Sam. 21:1)." (Theology Of the OT, p. 375).

One of the marks was the prophesiers from the Philistine High place.  They induced charismatic prophesying into Saul which always caused the warriors to detest him for his perverted acts under musical influence:

"We find demon-possessed Saul 'acting like a prophet' by becoming semi-conscious and immobile when attempting to apprehend David at Ramah..The context of this passage makes it clear that Saul's behavior was not the ordinary behavior of the true prophets of God." (Christianity Today, March 12,

"'Played the prophet,' viz., by gestures and demeanor."--Driver. "Rather, he raved."--Keil. "The word 'prophesy' describes an ecstatic condition due to supernatural influence, good or evil; the result in the one case being prophetic inspiration or religious enthusiasm, in the other raving madness."--Cambridge Bible. 1971, p. 541)

Heredotus writes: Now the Scythians are wont to reproach the Greeks with their Bacchanal rage, and to say that it is not reasonable to imagine there is a god who impels men to madness. No sooner, therefore, was Scylas initiated in the Bacchic mysteries than one of the Borysthenites went and carried the news to the Scythians "

You Scyths laugh at us" he said, "because we rave when the god seizes us.

But now our god has seized upon your king, who raves like us, and is maddened by the influence.
If you think I do not tell you true, come with me, and I will show him to you."

The chiefs of the Scythians went with the man accordingly, and the Borysthenite, conducting them into the city,
placed them secretly on one of the towers.
Presently Scylas passed by with the band of revellers, raving like the rest, and was seen by the watchers.
Regarding the matter as a
very great misfortune they instantly departed, and came and told the army what they had witnessed.
"the creation of the monarchy was providential...In retrospect, one can say that events which brought about the collapse of the Confederacy and the rise of the Israelite state were not...devoid of divine purpose. God's revelation is relevant to the whole of human life--to economics, politics, and every sphere of human activity. If God would speak to the nations through Israel, then Israel must undergo the experience of being a nation in order that she might appreciate the wealth of nationhood and attack the idolatrous power of nationalism." (Walter Eichrodt, quoted by The O.T., Benard Anderson, p. 163)

THE TEMPLE DEDICATION SACRIFICE WHERE GOD REMOVED HIS PRESENCE, THE WORD AND THE MERCY SEAT:

Let's look at the temple dedication sacrifice before we get to Hezekiah's reform almost 300 years later: hardly a PATTERNISM for instrumental worship. Furthermore, it was the musical guilds used as SLAVE DRIVERS to set  forth the slave labor to build the temple. This is the eternal WORKS CHANTS to keep people from feeling the terrors of slavery:
Mark Henderson: In 2 Chronicles 7, Solomon and the people are dedicating the temple of the Lord, and every aspect of the construction and furnishings of the building and the worship have been given by God. Let’s note what it says beginning in verse 5: So the king and all the people dedicated the temple of God. The priests took their positions, as did the Levites with the LORD's musical instruments, which King David had made for praising the LORD and which were used when he gave thanks, saying, “His love endures forever.” Opposite the Levites, the priests blew their trumpets, and all the Israelites were standing. 2 Chronicles 7:5-6

The "congregation" was never more than the king, military commanders, civil leaders and clergy: the common people were NOT permitted and NEVER worshipped with singing and instrumental accompaniment. They made SOUND or NOISE which intended to TERRORIZE and not MUSIC.

When God abandoned them to worship the STARRY HOST and if you believe David, the plan came for Hiram, the architect who built the temple of Tyre which was quite identical to all pagan temples including IDOLS inside and outside. 

For the tabernacle of the Lord, which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of the burnt offering, were at that season in the high place at Gibeon. 1 Chron 21:29
        But David could not go before it to enquire of God: for he was afraid because of the sword of the angel of the Lord. 1 Chron 21:30


"The
original altar of Burnt-offering continued at Gibeon with the Tabernacle (2 Chr. 1:3, 5). David must have erected a new altar for sacrifice at Jerusalem.
> The sacrifices commanded by the Law were, it appears, offered at the former place (Gibeon);
> at the latter were offered voluntary additional sacrifices." (Albert Barnes, 1 Chron, p. 347).

"The book of Psalms contain new doctrine after the Law of Moses. And after the writing of Moses, it is the second book of doctrine... (David) first gave to the Hebrews a new style of psalmody, by which he abrogates the ordinances established by Moses with respect to sacrifices, and introduces the new hymn and a new style of jubilant praise in the worship of God; and throughout his whole ministry he teaches very many other things that went beyond the law of Moses." (Fragment of Commentary by Hippolytus, bishop of Rome, Ante-Nicene, V, p. 170)

Look again:

David: Who found favour before God, and desired to find a TABERNACLE for the God of Jacob. Acts 7:46

Skenoma (g4638) skay'-no-mah; from 4637; an encampment, i.e. (fig.) the Temple (as God's residence), the body (as a tenement for the soul): - tabernacle. 

The warrior musicians made a CONTINUAL SOUND before the Tabernacle. This destroyed any REST God granted to the "civilians in the synagogues."

But Solomon built him an house. Acts 7:47

Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands;  as saith the prophet. Acts 7:48

Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest? Acts 7:49

So, I guess that it wasn't GOD in the temple. He was busy answering "lay" people's prayers from heaven. The people were 'outside the camp' where Paul says we have to go to find Jesus.

What is it about BUT that false teachers cannot spell?

When the LOUD NOISE was created a gread darkness or heaviness FILLED the temple and the PRIESTS could not enter to serve.
Not to worry, the people prayed to God WELL OUTSIDE the Gates and God heard from HEAVEN. Again, God was not in the temple.
This was the MARK that the people lost the presence of God, His Word and Grace under the mercy seat.

THE PLAGUE STOPPING PROPOSAL MADE BY HEZEKIAH AS A POLITICAL MOVE THAT FAILED.

Now, almost three hundred years later: much of Israel had gone into captivity and death BECAUSE of the continual musical idolatry defined by Amos and Isaiah.  Within five years of Solomon's death the Egyptians came for their "loaned" goal.  Civil war broke out BECAUSE of the music-induced slaver.  Judah is Jerusalem and a few local cities and they are under threat from the Assyrians.  The temple had become some polluted by pagan baby-burning rituals set to instrumental music that the priests could not even slaughter innocent animals.  A PLAGUE had struck the temple and Hezekiah makes his OWN proposal to clean out the garbage.  No singer or musician could enter the type of the Church of Christ or Holy Place even to clean out garbage. Therefore, Mark should have the musicians PERFORM out in the parking lot because only spiritual dead people would bring musicians into the synagogue or ekklesia.

Mark Henderson: First, we’ll look at 2 Chronicles 29:25-26  He stationed the Levites in the temple [court yard] of the LORD with cymbals, harps and lyres in the way prescribed by David and Gad the king's seer and Nathan the prophet;
this was commanded by the LORD through his prophets.
So the Levites stood ready with David's instruments, and the priests with their trumpets.

I noticed that some churches have VISION CASTERS: why not a Minister of Astrology?

You may remember that God abandoned the nation to STAR WORSHIP. A seer was a STARGAZER.  God gave David a pagah NIGH PLACE because David was too fearful to return to Gibeon. The SACRIFICES were for a Temple State and not commanded before the MUSICAL FALL at Mount Sinai. God promised David a TENT at ZION but Solomon built this HOUSE but God is not worshipped in HOUSES.

A fair reading of this passage and the MANY parallesl prove that DAVID commanded the musical instruments as CHIEF WARRIOR: David was never the Musical Worship Leader and never led worship.

In chapter 28 the people are doing Assyrian paganism in the temple: it was so polluted that the priests could not even burn innocent animals. As a way to get the people to move back close to Jerusalem, Hezekiah did a REFORM.  This included REMOVING the instruments of Baalism from the holy places. The Levitical musicians COULD NEVER enter the holy places even to clean out garbage.

Chapter 29: Hezekiah had his littel PLAGUE STOPPING proposal to God using the MILITARY since he was KING and the MILITARY musicians. This is because the Temple was part of the King's Shrine and never a "worship center for the people." This included burning down all of the "denominational" shrines. In 2 Chronicles 29 Hezekiah's reform stopped a plague just as David's original sacrifice at the Jebusite fortress.

In Chapter 30 the people RETURNED to burning little infants to the sound of loud instruments and again the temple was polluted.

This PROVES
that this burning of animals WITHOUT the presence of the CIVILIANS had no effect on God or Israel.
How can you MISS that?
  1. David was KING and David never sang and played backup with the harp in public worship.  They didn't WORSHIP with instruments they BURNED THE GOATS with instruments.
  2. By comparing the parallel statements it is clear that this passage does not say that God COMMANDED David's instruments. No writer prior to the small band of deliberate discorders ever thought that God commanded David's Instruments or we would have God COMMANDING them.
  3. If you could prove that God commanded David, and God has already abandoned them to worship the STARRY HOSTS (Acts 7 etal) then Mark Henderson proves that you are COMMANDED to worship the heavenly host as they did in amos to Saturn number 666 in Chaldee.

Adam Clark: Verse 25. With cymbals, with psalteries] Moses had not appointed any musical instruments to be used in the divine worship; there was nothing of the kind under the first tabernacle. The trumpets or horns then used were not for song nor for praise, but as we use bells, i.e., to give notice to the congregation of what they were called to perform, &c.

But David did certainly introduce many instruments of music into God's worship, for which we have already seen he was solemnly reproved by the prophet Amos, Amos vi. 1-6. Here, however, the author of this book states he had the commandment of the prophet Nathan, and Gad the king's seer; and this is stated to have been the commandment of the Lord by his prophets:
        Hezekiah appointed the
Levites in the house of the Lord,
        with instruments of music, and the sound of harps,
        and with the hymns of David, and hymns of Gad, the King's prophet;
        for David sang the praise of the Lord his God, as from the mouth of the prophets" (Syriac Version).

In 2 Chronicles 29:25, Gad supplied the songs but there is no record and therefore no fact that Gad prescribed instrumental music initially.

Adam Clark: It was by the hand or commandment of the Lord and his prophets that the Levites should praise the Lord; for so the Hebrew text may be understood: and it was by the order of David that so many instruments of music should be introduced into the Divine service.

But were it even evident, which it is not, either from this or any other place in the sacred writings, that instruments of music were prescribed by Divine authority under the law, could this be adduced with any semblance of reason, that they ought to be used in Christian worship?

No: the whole spirit, soul, and genius of the Christian religion are against this: and those who know the Church of God best, and what constitutes its genuine spiritual state, know that these things have been introduced as a substitute for the life and power of religion; and that where they prevail most, there is least of the power of Christianity. Away with such portentous baubles from the worship of that infinite Spirit who requires his followers to worship him in spirit and in truth, for to no such worship are those instruments friendly. See the texts in the margin; also the use of the trumpets in the sanctuary, Num. x. 2, &c., and the notes there.

One of the many parallels:

But let none come into the house of the Lord, save the priests, and they that minister of the Levites; they shall go in, for they are holy:

but all the people shall keep the watch of the Lord. 2 Chronicles 23: 6

And the Levites shall compass the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand; and
whosoever else cometh into the house, he shall be put to death: but be ye with the king when he cometh in, and when he goeth out. 2 Chronicles 23: 7

Mark Henderson: Now, the focus of worship in the Old Testament wasn’t on instrumental music. The focus of true worship is never on any particular form; the focus is on God. The point I want us to see here is that the people weren’t using instruments because they were rebellious or immature. They were using them in response to God; it was an act of obedience.

The Psalms are full of references to instruments, instructions for musicians and music directors, and commands to praise God with instruments. One example is

Psalm 33:2-3 Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to him on the ten- stringed lyre. Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy.
All of the instrumental psalms are called parade songs or PANIC SONGS: Remember Gideon?  David was WARRIOR and not the worship leader.  David was excused for going into the Holy Place when starving which PROVES that David was not authorized to enter the TYPE of the CHURCH OF CHRIST.

The instrumentalists were under the KING and COMMANDERS of the Army.  If they were commanded it was for the King such as Hezekiah above and NOT for the priests.  You could blow the silver trumpets when you WENT TO WAR to to send signals to the warriors.  We have a long list of these commands and the were NOT to be used in the synagogues.  Click for the War Rules which they used to MOCK Jesus.

Mark Henderson: Perhaps the most familiar one because it stands as a crescendo for the whole book of Psalms is Psalm 150: Psalm 150:1-6
Praise the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness.
Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, praise him with tambourine and dancing, praise him with the strings and flute,
praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD.

That leads to our next observation about instrumental music in the Old Testament: 2. It is not an aid to worship; it is an act of worship. The Psalmist said, “Praise him with the trumpet, the harp, the lyre, the strings, and the flute.”

David was military commander and scholars note that all of the instrumental and many more were parade or procession chants or warrior's panic songs. God consignes those who love to "go in procession to the mountain with instrumental music." They were going up to burn infants with lots of instrumental music to drown out the cries of the infants. This is the Molech worship defined by Amos. Isaiah 30 defines this for all of the NATIONS of which Irael had become just another "no better than Ethiopia." It is the sign of God driving people into a type of hell with wind, string and percussion instruments.

We warned you that David was so bloody handled that he could not even build a HOUSE in which God would NOT live. He was a warrior who rejoiced that God let him shed the blood OF the Gentiles. On the other hand, the SPIRITUAL David shed HIS blood FOR the Gentiles

Halal (h1984) haw-lal'; o be clear (orig. of sound, but usually of color); to shine; hence to make a show, to boast; and thus to be (clamorously) foolish; to rave;... be (make, feign self) mad (against), give in marriage, [sing, be worthy of] praise, rage, renowned, shine.
Further, David was a king of a nation devoted to the worship of Astrial Deities: perhaps that is why he wants to worship God in the firmament.

Most scholars treat this as allegorical since the instruments COULD not be used in the temple and all have vile, paganistic or perverted roots. Here is a table beyond the call of duty. I have color coded so you can see the various meanings connected also to LUCIFER.

Mark Henderson: You see the same idea in 1 Chronicles 23:4-5  David said, “Of these, twenty-four thousand are to supervise the work of the temple of the LORD and six thousand are to be officials and judges.

Four thousand are to be gatekeepers and four thousand are to praise the LORD with the musical instruments I have provided for that purpose.”

2 Chronicles 5:13 says, “The trumpeters and singers joined in unison, as with one voice, to give praise and thanks to the LORD.”

Because God had abandoned them to worship LIKE THE NATIONS or the Canaanites and Babylonians, it is serious error to think that this is what God COMMANDED and even commanded for US today:

Mark Henderson: In our churches, I have frequently heard that instrumental music is an unauthorized

ONLY when burnig the GOATS for Israel who was ABSENT.  I suggest that you use the Lord's Table to burn a GOAT (a Capella): After all, Jesus never said 'Thou shalt NOT burn a goat on thy Lord's Table."  Milton Jones' confiscated church MOVED the Lord's Table to give the Musical Sorcerers more moving room.

If one is reading the Bible and almost all of church history they would know that INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC IS CONDEMNED unless you think that SORCERY or making war is authorized.

Mark Henderson: God was pleased with the praise and worship that was offered to him, and he showed up in a way that would leave no question about that. In fact, the only place in Scripture where there is any indication of God’s displeasure regarding Israel’s instrumental praise is in the prophets, and there 4. The silencing of instruments is a sign of God’s judgment.

The Spirit OF Christ never defined worship for the people using COURT RECORDS of a CURSED MONARCHY to which God abandoned them AFTER the elders fired Him. God warned that they would regret it but He would not save them. Mark is defending the BURNING OF ANIMALS of a people abandoned to go into captivity and death.  How sad!

The prophets, inspired by the Spirit OF Christ, repudiated the curse of the priestly religion.  They show that the MUSIC was the CAUSE of the loss of the Word and the loss of the nations.  The prophets quoted by Christ in person are pointed to by Him to identify the HYPOCRITES as slick spekers, singers and instrument players.

We showed that God SHUT DOWN the Temple so that if Mark Henderson went in it to preach or sing or play an instreument his "brethren" would execute him.
All of the Prophets repudiated the Monarchy sacrificial system as the only rationale for loud NOISE never called music. Because they had been abandoned to worship the starry host BECAUSE of musical idolatry at Mount Sinai ALL of the noise was quarantined to the Levites and only at the temple.  To misrepresent the prophets is to resist the Holy Spirit who DID not authorize but imposed the Quail Trail as punishment without redemption.

The Bible is made up of many forms of literature: one thing simply overflows throughout and that is that the Spirit OF Christ spoke through the prophets to REPUDIATE and CONTRADICT the curse of the monarchy added as a curse because of transgression.

Acts 7:51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears,
        ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.

If you just learn how to read the NEXT verse you will understand how we resist the Spirit. 

Acts 7:52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted?
        and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One
        of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:

Acts 7:53 Who have , and have not kept it.
Acts 7:54 When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.

They would murder Stephen because he told them the TRUTH about why they were the product of being turned over to worship the starry host FROM WHICH the ignorant and unlearned slurp up their lies about instrumental music. Stephen tells them and US about Amos being the worship of the golden calf with wine, women and song.

Stephen was Zecharian literate who defined KING and PRIEST on the ONE THRONE "and there would be peace between them both." Thus denying that there are TWO sitting on a chair somewhere off in space.

Zechariah who prophesiedd ONE BRANCH as both King and Priest on ONE Throne.

Zech. 7:7 Should ye not hear the words which the LORD hath cried by the former prophets,
        when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity,
        and the cities thereof round about her, when men inhabited the south and the plain?

sent by his Spirit through the earlier prophets.

Zech 7:14 But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations whom they knew not.

Defining the Spirit OF Christ or the Spirit OF God which is embedded in the WORDS of the WORD.

A. Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us,
written
not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart. 2 Cor. 3:3 

2 Cor. 3:17 Now the Lord IS that Spirit: and where the Spirit OF the Lord is, there is liberty.

But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

The Spirit OF Christ was the ONLY Spirit guiding the prophets: all of the prophets repudiated the pagan religionism of the false teachers. That is why they have to MURDER Christ in order to FREE His Spirit so they can get SUBSTANCE for themselves. 

When the Christ of God or the Word of God or the Son of God--the Son left as the tender of the vineyard--has come "in a body prepared to M" to suffer and die a criminal's death, the words of the prophets have been GUARANTEED by a Spirit OF the suffering servant and by supernatural SIGNS to guarantee that His Apostles did not go beyond that which is written.

Those eye and ear witness left US are remembrance so that WE can MARK anyone who does not teach that which has been given which carries SPIRIT and LIFE.

B. 2 Pe.1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, [that worship word] as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
1Pet. 1:11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify,
        when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
1Pet. 1:12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves,
        but unto us they did minister the things,
        which are now reported unto you by them
        that have preached the gospel unto you
        with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
When you PREACH "that which has been taught" then you DELIVER the Holy Spirit or the Mind of Christ which is NEVER separated FROM Christ. That would be an attempt to murder God to get YOUR way and YOUR Say.
C. Rev. 19:9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb.
        And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
Rev. 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant,
        and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God:
        for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

Did you HEAR THAT?
The TESTIMONY of Jesus IS the Spirit of prophecy.

The Lord of Hosts was the Voice of the Spirit OF Christ from beginning to end.

The Holy Spirit OF Christ did not tell the preacher and elders to lie about all of the Spirit of prophecy!

 
The Kabod or glory of God means that "You are not able to come into my presence."  When Israel rose up in musical idoaltry the people became STRANGERS.  Thereafter only the High Priest could come close to God once a year.  God is not getting sexually aroused as all pagan musical idolaters believed.

"At the calf of Beth-aven the inhabitants of Samaria tremble, for its people will mourn over it and wail over it, over its kabôd which has gone into exile . The thing itself shall be carried to Assyria, as tribute to the great king. Ephraim shall be put to shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of its idol."  - Hosea 10:5-6

This is the same AMOS story Mark DEFENDS and says they had ATTITUDES!  Jesud identified as the sons of the DEVIL "those who speak on their own."

The True House of Israel which existed at the Tabernacle until the mortal sin of David.


"I will be for them a sanctuary in small measure in the lands where they have gone."      - Ezekiel 11:14-16

"From now on, Ezekiel affirms, it will be among the exiles that Yhwh's presence is manifested at all, albeit in small measure. Yhwh will henceforth be found in the midst of the true house of Israel, which now consists of the community in exile (11:15). Far from abandoning the exiles, Yhwh has abandoned Jerusalem."
It might be interesting to know that the Spirit OF Christ spoke through the prophets and NOT the priests.  The prophets uniformily condemn music because it was a MARK of a polluted mind and ignorance of God's Words.

There are NUMEROUS Psalms which also tell the story of the FALL of  Israel just across the Red Sea.

Mark Henderson: In the eighth century before Christ, you have this prophecy from Amos against the northern kingdom of Israel:

“I hate, I despise your religious feasts; I cannot stand your assemblies. Even though you bring me burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them. Though you bring choice fellowship offerings, I will have no regard for them.

Away with the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps. But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!”

Amos 5:21-24

God is not rejecting instruments in that passage.
He is rejecting worship that is offered from corrupt hearts.
The people have lived lives of self-indulgence, and they have trampled on the poor, so God says, “I do not accept your worship. Your sacrifices are supposed to be a fragrant aroma to me, but they make me sick to my stomach.

When you offer the music I have commanded, it is just a bunch of noise to me, and I refuse to listen to it.”
Just plain lies: God ABANDONED them to the worship of the starry host BECAUSE of musical idolatry at Mount Sinai..

Amos and Stephen said that they were doing the same thing they did at Mount Sinai: they rose up to play in musical idolatry.  Amos and Isaiah say that the MUSIC was the SYMPTOM of failure to teach the Word of God. That is the SAME thing any music intends to today.

I have done a simple graphic which shows that the Temple in Samaria was like all "houses" which held the imgage supposed to be the "god." In none of these--even the most vile--could singers or musicians enter into the CELLA or holy place.  The temple in Jerusalem was a SHADOW or body: the Holy Place typified those functions of the Qahal or synagogue for all of the civilians.  This, being the Body of Christ or Church of Christ was off limits to the singers who served (hard bondage) the priest OUTSIDE where the slaughtered animals.  In Samaria, like the Abomination of Desolation, the singers, musicians, prostitutes etal went INTO the temple.

David introduced a new style of worship because that is what God SAID that the kings would do:

"The book of Psalms contain new doctrine after the Law of Moses. And after the writing of Moses, it is the second book of doctrine...

(David) first gave to the Hebrews a new style of psalmody, by which he abrogates the ordinances established by Moses with respect to sacrifices,

and introduces the new hymn and a new style of jubilant praise in the worship of God; and throughout his whole ministry he teaches very many othe things that went beyond the law of Moses." (Fragment of Commentary by Hippolytus, bishop of Rome, Ante-Nicene, V, p. 170)

That is because they were ABANDONED to worship like the PAGANS.

Amos condemnes both Israel AND David. While David could never enter the later Temple, he did provide for the sacrificial warrior Levites.  He was the warrior chief and his "praise" was to panic the enemy even as ALL musical sounds induces a sense of panic which false preachers sell as GOD inside.

"The trained musicians which eventually appear around the time of David and Solomon mark a distinctive change in the history of Jewish music. Before this time much of the music was made by women." (Zondervan Pictorial Dictionary, Music p. 313).

"Before the establishment of the kingdom under Saul, it was the women who, as in every young civilization, played a major part in the performance of music. Such figures as Miriam, Deborah, Jephthah's daughter, and the women hailing the young hero David have become almost archetypes of female musicians.

        "Characteristic of all these cases is the familiar picture of a female chorus, dancing and singing, accompanied by frenzied drum-beating. This is the scene known to the entire Near East, and not "even the severe rule of Islam could wholly suppress this age-old practice." (Int Dict of the Bible, Music, p. 457).
That last statement attributes something to God which God did not say and is probably blasphemy.  Amos and Stephen in Acts 7 claim that they were worshiping the golden calf (at several locations in Samaria) and were doing the musical idolatry called PLAYING.
See how they sang! That chant to the sound of the viol, and invent to themselves instruments of music, like David.  Musical sounds gratified their auricular sensibilities, and they chanted to the viol.  Here is the lust of the ear... What a description this of a people that lived and wrought entirely for the senses!  They were practical materialists.  They had no spiritual vision, sensibilities, or experience.  Their imperishable souls were submerged in the deep flowing sea of mere animal pleasures... There is, indeed, a reference to intellectual effort, for it is said, they invented to themselves instruments of music.  Carnal indulgencies has ever been and is now as much, if not more than ever, the great employer of man's inventive faculties. (Pulpit Commentary, The Book of Amos, p. 131).

"A further reflection of this musical interest became apparent when Megiddo was excavated and the treasure room of the royal palace was uncovered. From this area was recovered a plaque inlaid with ivory, depicting a royal personage seated on a throne.

He was drinking from a small bowl,
and was being entertained by a
court musician who stood before him
plucking the strings of a lyre." (Harrison, R. K., Introduction to the Old Testament, Eerdmans, p. 335, see p. 411).

"The marzeah had an extremely long history extending at least from the 14th century B.C. through the Roman period. In the 14th century B.C., it was prominently associated with the ancient Canaanite city of Ugarit (modern Ras Shamra), on the coast of Syria...

The marzeah was a pagan ritual that took the form of a social and religious association... Some scholars regard the funerary marzeah as a feast for--and with--deceased ancestors (or Rephaim, a proper name in the Bible for the inhabitants of Sheol)." (King, Biblical Archaeological Review, Aug, 1988, p. 35, 35)

"These five elements are:
        (1) reclining or relaxing,
        (2) eating a meat meal,
        (3) singing with harp or other musical accompaniment,
        (4) drinking wine and
        (5) anointing oneself with oil." (King, p. 37).

"With the wine-drinking (which is the literal meaning of the Hebrew for feasting), went music and dancing." (Heaton, E. W., Everyday Life in Old Testament times, Scribners, p. 9

THIS WAS RISING UP TO PLAY AND THE PLAY OF DAVID WHERE EVERYONE GOT A SHARE OF FOD.

"we recognize the same elements: the sacrifices and libation, the cultic feast in which the congregation gets a share of food and drink after it has been blessed by the king, and the merry-making, now in the form of instrumental and vocal music. But the central act of the ritual, which was performed by the king, is called literally 'drinking' the god (Gurney, O. R. Some Aspects of Hittite Religion, p. 33-34, Oxford University Press, 1977)

"In pagan traditions, musical instruments are invented by gods or demi-gods, such as titans. In the Bible, credit is assigned to antediluvian patriarchs, for example, the descendants of Cain in Genesis 4:21. There is no other biblical tradition about the invention of musical instruments." "The normal order of events was a meal, followed by a drinking party. Entertainment might include anything from a rhetorcian or philosopher discoursing on some topic, to musical entertainment, to sexual dalliance."

You will notice the word BUT. God does not say keep on stealing from the poor so you can have wine, women and song in your temple AS LONG as you have a NON CORRUPT HEART.  But means INSTEAD OF. Their songs and instruments in their temples was a RESULT of their corrupt heart.

God hated them because God DIDN'T COMMAND them: He didn't get hungry and said "If I do I will NOT tell you." The sacrificial system was 100% Goyim or national just like at Tyre or Babylon.

The Israelites were REPEATING the musical worship of idolatry they practiced in the wilderness and LOST GRACE.  Stephen in Acts 7 tells the story and I am amazed that one could fill the pulpit and not know the truth.  Amos Castigates them for DOING what David did for the military and therefore condemns BOTH in a religious sense.

The PROBLEM with their rituals ans well as now  was that the people hungered and thirsted for knowledge of the Word and could not find it. As a result they ALL went into captivity.  If they just had ATTITUDES God would not have destroyed them all.

A Psalm is a Mizmor: there are only 57 mizmors or psalms in the BOOK called Psalms (Greek).  Seven of these acceptable songs are dedicated to special people or rituals. NONE of the other 50 mizmors--used by the Jews--have any musical content. NONE of the Bible is metrical and therefore could not be sung.  Only after Calvin did Psalms get rewritten to make them metrical and even CAPABLE of singing.  That did not include HARMONY.

The Psalms were read as TEACHING: it might be appropriate to sing 137 about wanting to bash out the heads of infants IF you explain that this is a recitable account of the history prose. The Bible was NOT metrical so when they write singe or ODE this defines PSALMOS as in the form of Hebrew cantillation. The psalms LATER had accent marks to aid in READING in the synagogue to make UNDERSTANDING clear and education certain.

A psalm like a song could be read, spoken, sung or sung with an instrument: the note of the voice and the harp were the same and added emphasis.  They knew nothing about the HARMONY being promoted as authorized by the Psalms.  The word HARMONY in the Greek means sounding together is speaks of unision as Paul commanded in Romans 15.  They recited the Psalms with the intention of LEARNING that song so they could return to kitchen or plow and "sing to themselves all week."

Those not abandoned to paganism attended the synagogue or church in the wilderness. The Holy Convocation is identical to what Jesus exampled and Paul commanded and the historic church practiced. That was to REST, read and rehearse the word of God. To that Jesus instituted, Paul defined and the historic church practiced the Lord's Supper. The only conclusion is that the NACC has used its members to try to destroy or divert peaceable churches of Christ which will not BOW OR BURN.  The NACC stands implicated by David Faust and others in all of the diverted churches.
