Mark Henderson, Quail Springs Church of Christ
Mark Henderson appeals to Dr. Everett Ferguson to enhance the claim that God COMMANDED instrumental music FOR WORSHIP. You may want to begin at Part One.
We have added part three: Mark Henderson, Rick Atchley, David Faust etal denies that the book of Acts has anything to say about musical instruments.
We have added proof that the common "congregation" could not even COME NEAR the Tabernacle less they bear their sin or be contaminated. This is because the leadership which rejected Grace by the use of musical idolatry were abandoned to "worship the starry hosts." At the same time the Qahal, synagogue or church in the wilderness was ordained to rest, read and rehearse the Word of God. It excluded both vocal and instrumental rejoicing which were signs of idolatry and prevented the work of the church. Mark Henderson is trying to lead you back to the very definition of the Abomination standing in the holy places when all of the "priests" and Levitical Warrior Musicians stumble into the Holy Place of the Synagogue or church. You should read that to prove that anything these false teachers IMPOSE from that time until the time of Christ is following the PATTERNISM of Stephen warned about and got murdered (Acts 7).
1.04.11
Christ the Spirit spoke through the Prophets
Jesus of Nazareth made these prophecies more perfect
Jesus said "my WORDS are Spirit and Life."
To speak out of your own imagination while pretending to speak for Christ is defined as blasphemy.
- The false assumption is that God commanded instrumental music under the Old Testament
- And Jesus was neutral
- That means that God did not change his mind about needing instrumental entertainment.
- But, God did not command the monarchy, king, temple or sacrificial system but imposed it because of musical idoltry
- And Jesus had much to say about connecting music to mocking and consigned pipers, singers and dancers to the marketplace
- That means that God did not change His mind and still connects music to the serpent (musical enchater) and sorcers (performers Rev 81)
That is using the Law of Silence meaning that "God never said, 'thou shalt not use instruments' that means that WE can use instruments knowing and allowing for deliberately sowing discord.
Because no one seems to know the meaning of PLAY and SPORTING and MOCKING I am going to try to show that it was musical idolatry which requested God to remove His Grace and let them worship like the Canaanites.
Uncensored dialog on this issue.
Not one in church history saw that patternism of silence until the Christian Church or NACC or the Stone-Campbell Movement had to find some justification for the SECTARIAN party they had produced without any need for justification from the Bible because they still repudiate being "strict constructionists." Churches of Christ which do not go with the flow are called SECTS by the Disciples. In fact, it has been noted that no one ever thought that PSALLO had anything to do with instruments until the Disciples invented it in 1878. To their consternation, they could find no scholar to agree.
Here is the statement of the law of silence which demands a law-against a thing to make it unacceptable.
Mark Henderson: Some New Testament Observations: The question we ought to ask is this: Will we find something there that specifically sets aside or supersedes the practice of instrumental praise like we do with some other Old Testament forms of worship, especially the practice of animal sacrifice and the Levitical priesthood?
Because it was a Goyim sacrificial system, the loud noise was out of mortal fear and meant exorcism. Why doubt it when John calls performance speakers, singers and musicians sorcerers? The singers wore linen garments meaning that they performed a priestly role and Josephus said that they caused the fall of the nation and were about to do it again by becoming singers in a system Stephen got murdered for denouncing. The old sacrificial system was long dead, the synagogue continued for the non-sectarians, and we can go back about 400 years to see the symbolic presence of God leaving the Temple.
- Only males of the Tribe of Levi could be either priests or Levitical Warrior musicians. Mark does not qualify.
- If that priesthood has been set aside then the singers who served (meaning hard bondage) the priests
- have no business making sacrificial "noise" never called music. Paul in Hebrews said that the "have nor rithts to the altar" of the New Covenant.
"Instrumental praise" is always in the context of animal sacrifices or attacking the enemy praise meaning "make self vile" as the source for the word Lucifer. I can post a dozen passages to prove that animal sacrifices and the NOISE never called music was used to SERVE (hard bondage) the priests sacrificing TYPES of Jesus Christ. This was caused by:
- The rejection of The Book of The Covenant (of Grace) at Mount Sinai and returning to the Egyptian musical idolatry of the pagan triad. God conditionally sentenced them to return to Assyria and Babylon. The "because of transgression" was musical idolatry.
- When the elders "fired" God and demanded a Goyim or national king it was so they could worship like the Gentile pagans. The kings were given with the warning that they would lead them into captivity and death. The tiny remnant after the Return abandoned the little pitiful temple and continued the Qahal, synagogue or church in the wilderness devoted solely to the BOOK. First Samuel Eight
- There are many accounts clearly defining this fall into pagan idolatry for the life of the Monarcy. We have posted a few of them here.
- None of the regular Jews every participated in the daily sacrificesd: and the 'representatives' of the people (the so-called 'stationary men') to their duties, Edersheim
- Josephus as well as the Idealized Temple in Ezekiel blames the Levitical Singers for the loss of the nation and warned that it was going to happen again
- "The Synagogue-worship [institutionalized], developed by and after the exile, largely substituted the book for the symbol, and thought for the sensuous or object appeal" (Int Std. Bible Ency., Worship. p. 3111).
- The temple at the time of Christ was called Herod's Temple and it is clear that other buildings were for the glory of the Roman rulers. When the Jews rebuild the Temple as they propose it will be the THIRD Temple.
- The Sectarians in Jerusalem were Cainites or Kenites or Arabs because being forced into the perverted musical worship of Zeus and Dionysus caused all of the faithful to flee. Jesus denied that they were Israelites. Jesus refused to let them see the TRUTH as he will all paganizers.
- The cessation of the daily sacrifice at the Temple when the Babylonian army had surrounded Jerusalem in 586 BC. Within a hundred years after the return there is no mention of the temple except in the Apocrypha. Gifts and sacrifices were given to the priests but in Ecclesiasticus, the offering was the fruit of the lips.
- In part one we have shown that Nehemiah proves that the Monarch was added as a curse and allowed the "senior pastor" to sellect his own "ministry team" and steal the inheritance of the fathers.
- Therefore, Mark Henderson has a 400 year period--well defined in the book Jesus quoted from--when the original sacrificial system had not existed. That which existed was the clergy's "den of thieves" or "house of merchandise" just like the church next door. This period is defined by four books of Maccabees. These define the perverted, musical Abomination of Desolation. First Maccabees Second Maccabees
- The synagogue Jesus used for teaching-only and the church as ekklesia is virtually the same as the church in the wilderness. When Paul used the assembly or gathering words he used a form of synagogue. The synagogue "had no praise service" and therefore there was NO CULTURE among the Jews to even think of restoring animal sacrifices JUST SO they could have loud sound in the temple which THEY could think of adding to the synagogue.
Certainly, the singers and instrumentalists were males and of the tribe of Levi. Not even David could sing during SACRIFICES. Because Jesus didn't CHANG that either, only Jews of Levi can sing or play OUTSIDE where we burn the garbage. When the Temple was destroyed even Simple Simon knew that there was no rationale for instruments: the shofar remained for signals specificially because it was NOT a musical instrument. That is why the Jews ceased being musical outside of the nation and why no one violated that law until 1815.
- "There was no praise service in the synagogue" says Alfred Edersheim because it was a SCHOOL OF THE BIBLE.
- There was not even a schoolboy who did not know that "music" was connected to the marketplace or agora where Jesus consigned the pipers, singers and dancers. They "sang" as a "schoolboy READS the Hallel."
- If God set aside the CURSE of the sacrifices offered like the GOYIM or Gentile nations they were abandoned to, then He set aside the NOISE (never called music) which as in all Temple-States was called EXORCISM. Only Levites, only in Canaan, Only in or around the temple but NEVER in the Holy Place which was a type of the body or Church of Christ. The patternism is that if Mark's singy-clappies entered into the TYE of the church they would come out DEAD.
- There is simply not a leg to dance on: apparently none is needed after a decade of failure to shepherd.
Mark Henderson: The first observation I would make from the New Testament is that 1. The NT is silent concerning instruments in worship. One of the key advocates for the a cappella only position during the past thirty years or so has been Dr. Everett Ferguson, who was my professor of church history at ACU. In his book A Cappella Music in the Public Worship of the Church, he writes on page 42, “We may note in passing that the New Testament gives no negative judgment on instrumental music per se...The situation is simply that instruments are not referred to in the church’s worship.”
Worship under the law was falling on your face especially when the SIGNAL for burning animals began. There was no instruments in worship even then. Naturally, because Jesus didn't preach the "gospel of the gospel" but the gospel of the kingdom--along with all preachers--the silence or lack of defining instruments for "a school of the Bible" does not mean that God goofed and did a Divine Oversight which modern preachers have liberty to supply.
The NT is silent about any approval but the NT is not silent in associating music to pagans. Even in Hezekiah's plague stopping proposal to God, all of the loud noise was for the burning of the goats. Afterward the Levites SANG and the people worshipped.
instruments are not referred to in the church’s worship is forced to mean that instruments are not referred to.
Here is what Everett Ferguson said on page 42:
"The conclusion drawn from the New Testament texts and from linguistic evidence was that instrmental music was not present in the worship of the New Testament church. This conclusion has further support in the contextual setting of New Testament times. Jewish practices and attitudes (both Rabbinic and Hellenistic) furnish strong presumption against the presence of instrumental in the early church. That means that for the assemblies the Bible is SILENT and there are GOOD REASONS why we do not find instruments used IN CHURCH. That means the PSALLO can never be stretched far enough to permit instruments. Being synagogue literate everyone knew that music had no more reason to be added than dirty dancing, prostitution or sodomy as in the Abominated temple:
The next chapter will test this conclusion by the testimony of church history. p. 42. ..
Because Mark cannot find any church history testimony which agrees with him, then the conclusion is that there was no music of any form in the church until about 373. He didn't bother to read Everett's TEST.The synagogue was never a pagan worship center but it was a school of the Bible. Not even allegorizing or commentary of the rabbi was allowed: only the Bible read and explained where words of Aramaic were not grasped.
"Hallel, in Jewish ritual, selection from the Psalms, chanted as part of the liturgy during certain festivals. The more frequently used selection includes Psalms 113-118 and is known as the Egyptian Hallel, presumably because Psalm 114 begins, "When Israel went out of Egypt"
The approved proof text of Jesus is ONLY at Passover and NEVER authorized for the weekly synagogue!
It is sung in synagogues on the first two days of Passover, on Shabuoth, on Sukkot, on each morning of the eight days of Hanukkah, and at the close of the Seder.
"The Hallel through the generations, on specific occasions: Pesachim 117aThe Hymns were really prayers: the pray-er in the synagogue was primarily the reader of the text. Why would you have a musical band performing while offering prayer to God? The preacher assuredly would not tolerate it when HE is speakinG.
"Hallel requires a full stomach and a satisfied spirit: Taanis 25b-26aThe reading is beloved to the people, and so they listen closely: Megillah 21b More comments.
"The Hallel as an Institution of the Prophets, to use to pray for salvation from danger: Pesachim 117a [2x] Saying the Hallel daily is blasphemous: Shabbos 118b dead
Rav Meir Simcha haKohan, zt"l, (Meshech Chochma Parshs B'chukosai) uses this concept to explain a seeming contradiction in the Talmud: In Tractate B'rochos (4b), it says that anyone who recites Psalm 145 of T'hillim, three times daily, is assured a place in The World to Come. (Therefore, we recite this psalm, beginning with "Ashrei" - every day - twice during Shacharis, and once again during Mincha). Yet in Tractate Shabbos (118b), it states that anyone who recites Hallel every day is guilty of blasphemy! Since both Psalm 145 and Hallel are praises of G-d, why is it beneficial to recite the former, constantly - while daily recitation of the later is blasphemous?
Hallel praises G-d for miracles of a one-time nature: the Exodus; the splitting of the Sea, and of the Jordan River, etc.
To recite these praises daily,
would imply that open miracles are more important and more praiseworthy
than those miracles which G-d disguises in 'natural' phenomena. This is blasphemy. In all of the Bible the Psalms were to TEACH and ADMONISH one another: we don't sing Twila Paris in order to teach GOD'S message. That would have been one of the earliest heresies.
Psalm 145, however, praises G-d for the miracles of 'natural' phenomena - for the way He keeps the world running 'naturally'. One who has internalized this perspective of G-d and 'nature', to the extent that he proclaims it three times daily, has a place in The World to Come. Rabbi Simcha Leib Grossbard
In the NEXT chapter where Everett says he will EXPLAIN but Mark etal does not listen, he quotes from Ignatious of Antioch. Click for my copy:Peter said that they should save themselves FROM this CROOKED generation of speakers, flute-players, harp-players, wine-drinkers doing skolion songs.
The Epistle of Ignatius to the Ephesians: also called Ignatius Theophoros (Greek: "God Bearer") bishop of Antioch, Syria, born in Syria, around the year 50; died at Rome between 98 and 117. Ignatius introduced the practice of alternating sections of the church chanting the Word. Ignatius d. c 110
Ignatius had known John, and was made bishop of Antioch about thirty years before the Apostle's death. Antioch, where the name Christian began, had over two-hundred thousand inhabitants. The Apostles or those whom they had appointed served as bishops and the bishops were the early evangelists. Like Paul, Ignatius was taken to Rome and was torn apart by wild beasts for his faith. As Ignatius notes, most of the believers had left Ephesus.
Wherefore it is fitting that ye also should run together in accordance with the will of the bishop who by God's appointment rules over you. Which thing ye indeed of yourselves do, being instructed by the Spirit. For your justly-renowned presbytery, being worthy of God, is fitted as exactly to the bishop as the strings are to the harp.
Thus, being joined together in concord and harmonious love, of which Jesus Christ is the Captain and Guardian, do ye, man by man, become but one choir; so that,
agreeing together in concord, and obtaining a perfect unity with God,
ye may indeed be one in harmonious feeling with God the Father, and His beloved Son Jesus Christ our Lord. For, says He, "Grant unto them, Holy Father, that as I and Thou are one, they also may be one in us." It is therefore profitable that you, being joined together with God in an unblameable unity, should be the followers of the example of Christ, of whom also ye are members.
And He says of Himself to the Father, "I have," says He, "glorified Thee upon the earth; I have finished the work which, Thou gavest Me; I have manifested Thy name to men." And of the Holy Ghost, "He shall glorify Me, for He receives of Mine."
But the spirit of deceit preaches himself, and speaks his own things, for he seeks to please himself. He glorifies himself, for he is full of arrogance.
He is lying, fraudulent, soothing, flattering, treacherous, rhapsodical, trifling, inharmonious, verbose, sordid, and timorous.
From his power Jesus Christ will deliver you, who has founded you upon the rock, as being chosen stones, well fitted for the divine edifice of the Father, and who are raised up on high by Christ, who was crucified for you, making use of the Holy Spirit as a rope, and being borne up by faith, while exalted by love from earth to heaven, walking in company with those that are undefiled.
Now, here is what this whole paper challenges from the Old Testament, the Classics, the New Testament, church theologians and everyone. We will focus on the word PLAY which denouncess music throughout the Old and new Testament: IF YOU HAVE EARS
Ferguson-- It makes neutral references to playing on instruments [Matthew 11:17 and parallels) uses instruments as illustrations (1 Cor 13:1; 14:7f, with unfavorable connotations it may be noted." [He notes Revelation 14:2 which we will look at later]That instruments are "not referred to" in the worship does not mean that Jesus was NEUTRAL.
Instruments are not referred to in the church's worship." End Ferguson
In Matthew 13 Jesus will explain that PARABLES hide the truth from those who do not LOVE the truth. Many of the actions of Jesus are parables as the prophets prophesied by acting. Mark is staking his soul on UNDERSTANDING this passage when Jesus has warned him that those WITHOUT EARS will NOT hear. Therefore, Jesus is saying something OUT LOUD which almost no one will HEAR.
HERE IS THE PROOF TEXT:Matt. 11:15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Matt. 11:16 But whereunto shall I liken this generation?
It is like unto [1] children sitting in the [2] markets, and calling unto their fellows,Matt. 11:17 And saying, We have [3] piped unto you, and ye have not [4] danced;
we have [5] mourned unto you, and ye have not [6] lamented.
Shouldn't that make any preacher check to see if his ears have been raptured? Music insists on dancing: even Psalms 150.
Jesus consigns the children (the PLAY concept), pipers, singers and dancers to the Agora or marketplace. There were the pagan altars and you could MARK one's sect by what they ate. All of these sects in Romans 14 were highly instrumental driven. They sang, played, offered sacrifices to pagan gods, sold bodies and radishes. The "psallo" rope MARKED those who dallied in the Agora and were slow to go to the ekklesia which was for spoken instruction only. Therefore, Jesus is MAKING the perverted musicians consistent with all known evidence.
HERE IS WHAT MARK HAS ASSERTED: New Testament gives no negative judgment on instrumental music per se. Mark did NOT have ears to hear what Jesus said: on the surface calculated to fool the fools but to the disciple the WHOLE KEY to pagan religion.
HERE IS WHAT Dr. FERGUSON WROTE: It makes neutral references to playing on instruments [Matthew 11:17 and parallels)
The message of MUSIC in the Bible is that it is both the CAUSE and MARK of rejecting the clear Word of God:
- For instance, if John called them a generation of vipers and
- Peter also later called them a crooked generation of new wineskin skolion singers, CLICK HERE
- And Jesus called them a children [playing] generation we should HAVE EARS.
The WORD versus the SONG
A synagogue versus a marketplace is the contest. Piping to make people sing and dance is another. The Latin
The word children speaks of a boy who is beaten or abused. This word speaks of the PLAY which intended to induce the mad singing and dancing by piping or playing the flute or other musical instruments. PLAY always points to sexual and homosexual dalliance which belongs in the marketplace and NOT even in the civil ekklesia (church).[17] dicunt cecinimus [Cano] vobis et non saltastis lamentavimus et non planxistis
CANO, to produce melodious sounds, whether of men or animals, of the crowing of a cock, (the crowing of a hen being considered as an auspicium malum), of the instruments by which,of the places in which, the sounds are produced, to sound, resound:
canentes tibiae, maestae cecinere tubae, [IN ROMANS 14] In the lang. of the Pythagoreans, of the heavenly bodies (considered as living beings), the music of the spheres,C. Since the responses of oracles were given in verse, to prophesy, foretell, predict. In poetry: Sibylla, [Mother of the homosexual ministers]
Canto III. In the lang. of religion, as v. n. or a., to use enchantments, charms, incantations, to enchant, to charm, (Rev 18 John calls them sorcerers)
Arnobius speaking of the Parasites: Was it for this He sent souls, that in men they should become IMPURE,
in women harlots, players on the triangle and psaltery; that they should prostitute their bodies for hire, should abandon themselves to the lust of all ready in the brothels, to be met with in the stews, ready to submit to anything, prepared to do violence to their mouth even?
Psallo NEVER means to play an instrument: it just means play or pluck. Paul knew many dedicated words if he had intended to ALLOW singing to the harp. A PsalmODIA is playing to an ode. A LurODIA is singing to a lyre. A GuitarIST would play the guitar and is equated to a PARASITE. Another example,
Psaltes , ae, m., = psaltês, a player on the cithara, a musician, minstrel,
Jesus cast out the musical minstrels "like dung."
Matt. 11:18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.
Matt. 11:19 The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say,
Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners.
But wisdom is justified of her children. [meaning: you are liars]
Again: Matt. 11:15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Matt. 11:16 But whereunto shall I liken this generation?
It is like unto [1] children sitting in the [2] markets, and calling unto their fellows,Matt. 11:17 And saying, We have [3] piped unto you, and ye have not [4] danced;
we have [5] mourned unto you, and ye have not [6] lamented.
Matthew 11 speaks of a perverted form of PLAY where children imitated the fertility rituals of wedding or funeral. This is the PATTERNISM defined in the wilderness when Israel rose up to PLAY. Because Exodus 32 shows how the Israelites fell from Grace and was turned over to worship the heavenly host (Acts 7 etal) it might help if we compare Moses to this statement of Jesus which is NOT neutral but is a parable with eternal consequences. It is important also to see how the false teachers take the MONEY of people in order to facilitate this idolatrous worship. Paul will identify the musical PLAY at Mount Sinai as demon worship in 1 Cor. 10. He will otherwise define this idolatry in Romans 10.
THE MARKETPLACE OR AGORA
1. Jesus took the "psallo" rope and drove the moneychangers out of the temple courts: they belonged to the marketplace or agora.
2. He consigned these pipers, singers and dancers to the marketplace where all such perverted people belonged.
3. He cast out the "musical minstrels" like dung because the same official regulated the flute-girl prostitutes and the dung heep.
The abomination the Israelites brught out of Egypt and the worship of Baal-peor was highly DUNG-FOCUSED.
Notes:We know that all of the musical, pagan, perverted religions and many temples existed in or around the Agora. In Athens, the ekklesia was on a hilly called Pnx. The second major use of "psallo" identifies the red, polluted rope the slaves used to drive and therefor MARK those who loitered around the singers and pluckers and meat markets too long and refused to go to the ekklesia which, like thechurch, was for instructional speaking only. Those who brought rhetoric into the ekklesia were truly low class.
What happens? The kingdom of priests- a holy-nation are seduced by Midianite women to worship Baal Peor, an idol whose main form of worship was to defecate before it. A tribal leader openly flaunts his relationship and twenty four thousand people die in a plague before Pinchas puts an end to the episode with one fell swoop.
"Baal Peor is one of the most revolting and disgusting forms of idol worship. The Gemara relates that those who worshipped Baal Peor would consume various laxatives and then proceed to relieve themselves before the idol. What attraction could such a disgusting form of idolatry contain for Israel?
"Seen in a deeper sense, Baal Peor represents the tearing down of all moral and religious restrictions and prohibitions. Idolaters, too, had their morals manifested by their deity, and by the mode of its worship. The worshippers of Baal Peor rebelled against these very strictures, proclaiming their complete lack of recognition of any system of values whatsoever. This iconoclasm and espousal of anarchy became their very god!
Beguiled with music and dancing, and allured by the beauty of heathen vestals, they cast off their fealty to Jehovah. As they united in mirth and feasting, indulgence in wine beclouded their senses and broke down the barriers of self-control.
4. The Marketplace was for the kind of "religionism" Mark is trying to restory while diminishing the ekklesia or school of the Bible

5. The word CHILDREN does not mean kiddies in the parking lot: we have noted that Tom Burgess collected many of the proof texts proving that psallo almost commands instrumenta music. First, the word psallo means to pluck or twitch but not lay a harp. Secondly, ALL of Tom's proof texts used by everyone else point to older males plucking the harp in order to seduce a young man whose hairs had been plucked.
MUSICAL PLAY always in the MARKETPLACE and NEVER in the Ekklesia.Gregory Nazianzen, Oration XXXIX on the Holy Lights
For what they worship as true, they veil as mythical. But if these things are true, they ought not to be called myths, but to be proved not to be shameful; and if they are false, they ought not to be objects of wonder; nor ought people so inconsiderately to hold the most contrary opinions about the same thing,
- as if they were playing in the market-place with boys or really ill-disposed men,
- not engaged in discussion with men of sense, and worshippers of the Word,
though despisers of this artificial plausibility.
Paul, but no theologian, understood that meaning of EVE and the Cain-Abel conflict as connected to the rise of the AGRICULTURISTS who need fertility rites versus the hunter-gatherers who did not.Nor are we concered with Phrygian mutilations and flutes and Corybantes, and all the ravings of men concerning Rhea [Zoe], consecrating people to the mother of the gods, and being initiated into such ceremonies as befit the mother of such gods as these. Note 11 There was a temple of Rhea in Phrygia, in which at her festivals people mutilated themselves to do her honour. The flutes alluded to served to turn the thoughts of the sufferes from the pain of the operation. The Corybantes were the ministers of the goddess, who led the wild orgies of her worship. It is believed that there is an allusion to this practice of self-mutilationPaul outlawed this by preventing the women from going public

The Fall from GRACE and being abandoned to worship the heavenly host is what Mark wants to use as authority for the Christian assembly or school of the Bible:

Theodoret (Quasten, Music & Worship, p. 65) claimed that the Jews brought liturgical music from Egypt and Philo wrote that "Moses learned rhythm, harmony, meter and everything concerned with instrumental music from the Egyptians."THE MUSICAL PLAY WHICH ASKED GOD TO GET LOST.
This is why Moses knew that the noise at Mount Sinai was not the sound of defeat or of victory. Rather, it was the "sound of them singing that I hear."
The Jews sang in the type of the Egyptian threnodies (elegies for the dead):
Thus they made a golden bull, the image of an animal that was held to be the most sacred in that land;
they offered unholy sacrifices, performed impious dances and sang hymns
which differed in no way from the pagan mourning songs. Philo, De specialibus legibus
"The triumphal hymn of Moses had unquestionably a religious character about it; but the employment of music in religious services, though idolatrous, is more distinctly marked in the festivities which attended the erection of the golden calf." (Smith's Bible Dictionary, Music, p. 589).
They did not play baseball!

[It is used so] in the language of the Mishnah (Yevamot 90b, Sanhedrin 46a): "who cohabited (hetich) with his wife," because the semen shoots like an arrow. Now if you ask: it should have been kimtachei, [I will answer you that] it is grammatically correct to insert a "vav" here, as in (Shir HaShirim 2:14): "in the clefts of (bechagvei) the rock," from the [same] root as (Yeshayahu 19:17): "And the land of Yehudah will be to Egypt for a breach (lechaga)," and from the [same] root as (Tehillim 107:27): "They reeled (yachogu) and staggered like a drunkard." Similarly (ibid. 65:6): "the ends of (katzvei) the earth," being derived from katzeh (end).
LET'S LOOK AT SOME EXAMPLES OF PLAY AND SEE:
Whether the church at Quail Springs wants to be seduced into what Mark DISMISSES in Matthew 11 and dozens of other passages. I will quote some versions of the PLAY which point to Biblical examples. You can see that Mark is absolutely wrong about his reading of the Old Testament or his agenda has been like that of his leaders:

Nachash "snake, serpent" with nshk "bite" provides a link between two verses in Amos speaking of the impossibility of escape Amos 5:19 and 9:3 - nachash often either carries overtones of the serpent in Eden (Gen 3) or of the mythology of Canaanite cultures (Is 27:1).

Here is how Paul defined the ekklesia where SELF-pleasure outlaws the flute-girls, dancing-girls and harp-girls.

MORE ON THE MARKETPLACE WHERE JESUS CONSIGNED PIPERS, SINGERS AND DANCERS and false teachers lust to take you--and PAY THEM TOO.Ancient literature from Babylonian tablets and beyond agree with Johannes Quasten. In Music and Worship in Pagan and Christian Antiquity, beginning on page 41 He uses many of the church Fathers and Classical resources we also rely upon:
There are specialists assuring the NEW race of musical performers that the Platonic Fallacy which MARKS them as homosexuals is not REALLY true. However, you will never find any exception is the literture. the MIMIC is bleeding real bad."Philodemus considered it paradoxical that music should be regarded as veneration of the gods while musicians were paid for performing this so-called veneration. Again, Philodemus held as self deceptive the view that music mediated religious ecstasy. He saw the entire condition induced by the noise of cymbals and tambourines as a disturbance of the spirit.
He found it significant that, on the whole, only women and effeminate men fell into this folly.
Accordingly, nothing of value could be attributed to music; it was no more than a slave of the sensation of pleasure, which satisfied much in the same way that food and drink did.
Similar opinions may be found in the writings of Philo. On one occasion he spoke of the Jewish "Feast of Fasting," used by the Greeks for the Day of Atonement:
DECENT BOYS: "Now, many a man from the false religions, which are not ashamed of criticising what is noble, will ask: how can there be a feast without carousing and overeating, without the pleasant company of hosts and guests, without quantities of unmixed wine, without richly set tables and highly stacked provisions of everything that pertains to a banquet, without pageantry and jokes,

C. Aristotle Politics 1341b and all the instruments that require manual skill. And indeed there is a reasonable foundation for the story that was told by the ancients about the flute. The tale goes that Athena found a flute and threw it away. Now it is not a bad point in the story that the goddess did this out of annoyance because of the ugly distortion of her features; but as a matter of fact it is more likely that it was because education in flute-playing has no effect on the intelligence, whereas we attribute science and art to Athena
And since we reject professional education in the instruments and in performance (and we count performance in competitions as professional, for the performer does not take part in it for his own improvement, but for his hearers' pleasure, and that a vulgar pleasure, owing to which we do not consider performing to be proper for free men, but somewhat menial; and indeed performers do become vulgar, since the object at which they aim is a low one, as vulgarity in the audience usually influences the music, so that it imparts to the artists who practise it with a view to suit the audience a special kind of personality, and also of bodily frame because of the movements required)
C. Charles Spurgeon Psalm 149 Ver. 3. Let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp. They who from hence urge the use of music in religious worship, must, by the same rule, introduce dancing, for they went together, as in David's dancing before the ark (Jud 21:21).
But whereas many Scriptures in the New Testament keep up singing as a gospel ordinance, none provide for the keeping up of music and dancing; the gospel canon for Psalmody is to "sing with the spirit and with the understanding." --Matthew Henry.

41. Was it for this He sent souls, that they which shortly before had been gentle
and ignorant of what it is to be moved by fierce passions,Does it matter if you just DAMAGE the souls and emotions of people because you CANNOT do human sacrifice?
should build for themselves markets and amphi-theatres, places of blood and open wickedness, in the one of which they should see men devoured and torn in pieces by wild beasts, and themselves slay others for no demerit but to please and gratify the spectators, [voluptatemque] and should spend those very days on which such wicked deeds were done in general enjoyment, and keep holiday with festive gaiety
Was it for this He sent souls, that, forgetting their importance and dignity as divine, they should acquire gems, precious stones, pearls, at the expense of their purity; should entwine their necks with these, pierce the tips of their ears, bind their foreheads with fillets, seek for cosmetics to deck their bodies, darken their eyes with henna ; nor, though in the forms of men, blush to curl their hair with crisping-pins, to make the skin of the body smooth, to walk with bare knees, and with every other kind of wantonness,
both to lay aside the strength of their manhood,
and to grow in effeminacy to a woman's habits and luxury?42. Was it for this He sent souls, that some should infest the highways and roads, others ensnare the unwary, forge false wills [to build church buildings or dishonor bylaws], prepare poisoned draughts [sorcery in Rev 18]; that they should break open houses by night, tamper with slaves, steal and drive away, not act uprightly, and betray their trust perfidiously; that they should strike out delicate dainties for the palate; that in cooking fowls they should know how to catch the fat as it drips; that they should make cracknels and sausages, force-meats, tit-bits, Lucanian sausages, with these a sow's udder and iced puddings?
Was it for this He sent souls, that beings of a sacred and august race should here practise singing and piping ;
that they should swell out their cheeks in blowing the flute ;
that they should take the lead in singing impure songs,
and raising the loud din of the castanets, 309 by which
another crowd of souls should be led in their wantonness to abandon themselves to clumsy motions,
to dance and sing, form rings of dancers, and finally, raising their haunches and hips,
float along with a tremulous motion of the loins?
Was it for this He sent souls, that in men they should become impure,
in women harlots,
players on the triangle 310 and psaltery ; that they should prostitute their bodies for hire,
should abandon themselves to the lust of all, 311 ready in the brothels,
to be met with in the stews, [fornicibus] ready to submit to anything,
