The Lord our God is one Lord

The Lord our God is one Lord: One GodHead: The Holy Spirit, Trinity, and Third Person views of the One God makes the natures of the Godhead into three persons or three gods. The Holy Spirit is the Mind of God as the Word is the expression of that Mind. Christ was and is full Deity and Holy Spirit for mankind.

The Lord our God is one Lord means The Lord (Jehovah) our God (Elohim) is one Lord. Jesus is called both Lord and God. His name, Jesus or Joshua means Jehovah- Saves. Therefore, God Who dwelled fully in Jesus of Nazareth is, as always, a hyphenated- Name which defines His present work. The Shema was and is a fundamental statement of faith and Jehovah has never been identified as a PLURAL.

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: Deut 6:4
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. Deut 6:5

God is ALWAYS an I or a HE and never a WE or THEY. Jesus agreed:

And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: Mk.12:29

This confession meant that the man was "not far from the kingdom of God."

Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one. Ga.3:20

This does not relate to the "oneness" doctrine or any of the ISMS which attempt to define the Trinity. No one as far as we can determine prior to 1942 ever dared say that God was a Family of Gods.

H. Leo Boles and the Gospel Advocate

"In the beginning, the head of the Gods called a council of the Gods; and they came together and concocted a plan to create the world and people it....In all congregations when I have preached on the subject of the Deity, it has been the plurality of Gods." Joseph Smith, (Founder and First Prophet), History of the Church, Vol 6, pp. 308,474.

But:

I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, that I am God. Is.43:12

While the One godhead is manifested as flesh and justified in the Spirit, the later Catholic church adopted the Babylonian trinity of Father, Mother and Son.  The Mother-spirit took over the son role of savior, life-giver and mediator.  By adopting this view it is necessary to ignore the hundreds of clear statements of Scripture and develop a creed based upon having to force-interpret a few passages which are clearly of a parable nature. Click here to see how the new schemes are getting into bed with a substitute mediator. creeds. Any such effort to systematize the Word and impose it upon others is a guarantee that God will plug our ears and put our our eyes. If my mind changes tomorrow I will know that growth is taking place and without growth comes spiritual death.

Disclaimer: Because people tend to "project" our belief on one topic to all others which come to their mind, it is important to make a statement of belief. First, the creation account is written in the form of a parable. Clearly, if we understand the almost infinite complications involved in creating a human being with the power to pass on DNA and re-create in a "natural process" we minimize God if we see Him making a mud pie or "idol" and then blowing wind in one end and having life proven by sound coming out the other as in ancient accounts.

What is described as a simple trick for a child hides the fact that no man could with infinite time string together all of the "parts" required to create a reproducing human. If we don't grasp the spiritual implications then we have fallen for the trick Jesus predicted for unspiritual people in Matthew 13.

This does not mean that we believe that "mother evolution" could have done a better job than the best of modern human science. In fact, we believe that the "day journals" of the creative "days" do not speak of millions of years for each day. Rather, because God is infinite it is probable that the "infinite-looking" creation of all matter took place in zero time. To demand that He use up six literal days and then get so exhausted that He has to rest may minimize God as much as to demand that He had to use "theistic evolution" and use up billions of years. I think that the idea of God having to rest is one of His jokes on unspiritual people.

I notice that a lot of people demanding that God began at 9 O'clock in the morning, October the 23rd in 4004 B.C. (or whatever Lightfoot's joke said) have something to sell.

Until the last century no one would have dared called God three God persons as we understand the word person. Paul, in First Corinthians Two, equates the Spirit of God and the Mind of Christ. Because mankind is made in the image of God, this symbolically shows that God has the (1) means of physical action "hands, etc.", (2) mind or thinking ability and (3) Spirit or mental disposition of that mind. In another sense, God speaks by blowing wind or spirit from between His lips or double-edged sword to speak the Word to create all things. Modern science knows that the human genome is a word-list or "book of life" which when put into action creates the human body. This genome is God designed and He puts life and spirit into the body.

"In the 1st chapter of Genesis it is the great creative Mind that is at work. The record portrays just how divine ideas were brought into expression. As man must have an idea before he can bring an idea into manifestation, so it is with the creations of God. When a man builds a house he builds it first in his mind. He has the idea of a house, he completes the plan in his mind, and then he works it out in manifestation.

Thus God created the universe. The 1st chapter of Genesis describes the ideal creation. The 1st chapter shows two parts of the Trinity: mind, and idea in mind. In the 2d chapter we have the third part, manifestation. In this illustration all theological mystery about the Trinity is cleared away, for we see that it is simply mind, idea in mind, and manifestation of idea. Since man is the offspring of God, made in the image and likeness of Divine Mind, he must express himself under the laws of this great creative Mind.

The law of manifestation for man is the law of thought. God ideates: man thinks. One is the completion of the other in mind.

"The man that God created in His own image and likeness and pronounced good and very good is spiritual man. This man is the direct offspring of Divine Mind, God's idea of perfect man. This is the only-begotten Son, the Christ, the Lord God, the Jehovah, the I AM. In the 2d chapter this Jehovah or divine idea of perfect man forms the manifest man and calls his name Adam. Charles Fillmore's Works

The Lord our God is one Lord Speaks to Himself

We may deny God the right we assume for ourselves. That is, we talk to ourselves and we send our bodies on missions from which our minds shrinks. When God speaks in a trinitarian sense, He speaks in the same way we do:

"Then our Lord took counsel in the thoughts elohim

of His heart how He might people, with a better host, the great creation, the native seats and gleaming mansions, high in heaven, wherefrom these boastful foes had got them forth. Therefore with mighty power Holy God ordained, beneath the arching heavens, that earth and sky and the far-bounded sea should be established, earth-creatures in the stead of those rebellious foes whom He had cast from heaven.

For the Lord, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the Lord of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously. Malachi 2:16

Ye have wearied the Lord with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the Lord, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the God of judgment? Malachi 2:17

BEHOLD, I will send my messenger (John), and he shall prepare the way before me (visualized in Jesus Christ): and the Lord (The One Jehovah-Saved),
........... whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even
........... the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold,
........... he (the Lord) shall come,
........... saith the Lord of hosts. Malachi 3:1

The early church saw the Trinity as three persona or manifestations as Paul clearly reveals. However, in the nineteenth century liberals began to call God three persons. A person is a human being and this would have been heresy in early church history. A modern Restoration Movement incarnation is really Neo-trinitarianism. This degrades the mystical nature of God and makes Him "in our image." H. Leo Boles said that the three detached persons were "akin" or members of the God family. They held conferences and this is the "age of the Holy Spirit" with Father and Son sitting on an easy chair. They, according to this view, are "One" in the same way that man is one because we are made of "man stuff" God is One because the three co-equal Gods are made of the same "God stuff."

While not defending any creedal statement about the nature of God, the following notes may aid in preventing us from blaspheming the full Deity which dwelled fully in Jesus Christ.

The One godhead reveals Himself in many roles. This is usually, but not always, as Father (Sender), Son (Sent, word, light) and Spirit (Mind, mental disposition).

O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, that dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: thou hast made heaven and earth. Isaiah 37:16

The Lord our God is one Lord is not made in the image of man

Tri-theists claim that God is one only in the sense that Adam and Eve were one. They were one flesh which describes the sexual unity of male and female. Therefore, God can be one god and three persons at the same time. No one can explain this.

However, Adam, the man, was also alone:

And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. Genesis 2:18

When Adam was created in the image of God he was created alone. He was one person and not triplets. However, he had body, soul and spirit which are three manifestations of the one life.

When God decided to make a help meet for Adam, it was a second person who could stand opposite, stand side-by-side or even hold conferences with Him.

The claim that the three "persons" of the "god family" are one just as Adam and Eve were one gets pretty close to blasphemy. This demands that God have a "help meet" for Him to create and run the world. In fact, Boles claims that Father and Son created a totally worthless thing and creation was not complete until the third person, the Holy Spirit, acted. However, look at the meaning of meet which is never used of God:

Neged (h5048) neh'-ghed; from 5046; a front, i. e. part opposite; spec. a counterpart, or mate; usually (adv., espec., with prep.) over against or before: - about, (over) against, * aloof, * far (off), * from, over, presence, * other side, sight, * to view.

Nagad (h5046) naw-gad'; a prim. root; prop. to front, i. e. stand boldly out opposite; by impl. (causat.), to manifest; fig. to announce (always by word of mouth to one present); spec. to expose, predict, explain, praise: - bewray, * certainly, certify, declare (-ing), denounce, expound, * fully, messenger, plainly, profess, rehearse, report, shew (forth), speak, * surely, tell, utter.

The Lord our God is one Lord was not face to face as a trinity of People

Adam was alone just as God was alone.

There was one God and one Adam made in God's image with

(1) body or power over the physical world,
(2) life and mind and
(3) a spirit or mental disposition.

God gave Adam a mate but he was always one person and she was one person. God never said that the two persons of Adam and Eve would become one person. Rather, he was alone until God created Eve. If this explains God then God was alone until He created the Word. But the Word is another term to explain the One godhead as He projects His voice and creative power into the visible world of mankind.

Now, Adam plus Eve is 1 + 1 = 2 people. Scripture never says that they were one Being but one flesh:

Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. Genesis 2:24

One flesh means sexual intercourse. It does speak of God or personhood:

Basar (h1320) baw-sawr'; from 1319; flesh (from its freshness); by extens. body, person; also (by euphem.) the pudenda of a man: - body, [fat, lean] flesh [-ed], kin, [man-] kind, / nakedness, self, skin.

The trinity was never one in the sense of sexual intercourse. Of course, a common Catholic view is that God the Holy Spirit had sexual intercourse with Mary or Jesus would not have been His Son! This, then, makes Marry the mother of God and naturally mothers take precedence over sons. Therefore, Mary is the mediatrix or intercessor bringing about the great Jubilee.

We will find many opportunities to see that the image God used to make man was a being with (1) form to move and manipulate things, (2) life or soul and a (3) spirit or mind to direct the body. Man is never three persons.

One tritheist form holds that Son derived from Father and Father derived from Son and Spirit derived from both. However, if all three have always existed then we cannot understand how one could have derived from the other. If one derived from the other then there must have been a "time" when only One existed. If one then derived from the other then Son is not the First and Last and Arius is right.

At the same time, these people teach that Father, Son and Spirit are all co-equal and each are fully Gods or members of the God family.

This theory also hold that all three members of the god "family" were face to face and side by side, holding a committee meeting to decide that Father and Son would create all things. They created a thing defined as "totally worthless." The Holy Spirit stepped in and "brooded" the waters like a mother hen and brought organization and law to make the place fit for human habitation.

However, Scriptures clearly say:

Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the Lord God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey. Deut 6:3

Hear, O Israel: The Lord (Jehovah) our God (Elohenu) is one Lord: Deut 6:4

And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. Deut 6:5

Of all of the elohim, including Moses, Jehovah is the ONE true El.

See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.  Deuteronomy 32:39

And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him. Is.59:16

God's SON is his ARM, SHOULDER, SHIELD which intercedes between His Spirit nature and the world.

Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind (spirit) in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name,
........... and what is his sons name, if thou canst tell? Prov 30:4
........... Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Prov 30:5
........... ........... Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. Prov 30:6

The Christ of God is the Son of God is the WORD. A son is idenfied as the voice of the "father" within:

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. Jn.8:44

At the same time, people understood that if the pagan gods were supposed to live in a rock, Jehovah who was the One and only True El, could be said to be the True Rock because He could bring forth water and deliver His Word to mankind without having to spend a night sleeping on a rock table. The Babylonians believed that the gods or demons lived inside of the wind instruments and were its source of power. However, Yahweh is our source of breath and power:

The God is my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence. 2 Samuel 22:3

In the ancient view, you could beat your sword on your leather shield (drum) or your brass (cymbal) shield and the gods would come to your aid and the music would panic the enemy into fleeing. God could send wasps or a plague and you didn't have to gong or clang.

The horn or coronet was made like a crooked serpent and you could play music like a hissing sound and the gods would speak right out of the instrument which was an idol of the Babylon serpent god. However, the True God would work in the affairs of mankind without blowing on Him.

When the Babylonians "ascended" the tower of Babel and other high towers, they played loud music hoping to meet a god ascending and descending the ladder. When you got to the top, where the paid priest was your mediator, you could either attack or appease the god with music to force him to give you a good crop or more goats. God supplies all good things.

Whatever the pagan mind conceived of as power, God was its true source. The towers were the refuge to keep God from washing the people away again therefore God is our Refuge being the "walls of fire" of salvation and we do not need Cain, Jubal, Jabal, Tubal-Cain, Naamah or Nimrod to protect us from the wild animals.

The Lord our God is one Lord is not three Gods but fills Three or More roles

By putting this passage in table form it becomes clear that God is not made up of six co-equal members of the Godhead called Rock, Shield, Horn, High Tower, Refuge and Savior:

Deliverer

Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. Ps.91:14

Fortress

And the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, Thou shalt not come hither. Nevertheless David took the castle of Zion, which is the city of David. 1 Chr.11:5

Rock

The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.  2 Samuel 23:3
---And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. 1 Corinthians 10:4 (Christ ia always evident in the O.T.)

Shield

He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Psalm 91:4
---Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. Ephesians 6:16

His NAME shall be called

Horn

And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David; Luke1:69

High Tower

Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. Ephesians 4:8

Refuge

O Lord, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit. Jeremiah 16:19

Saviour is YASHA

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.  Matthew 1:21

Joshua or Jesua is y’howshuwa - yashaż

God is my Jesus! (Zec 3)

My Rock

The Lord is (is One God but also in form of)

My Fortress and

My Deliverer  2 Samuel 22:2

Notice another trinity manifestation of the One Lord God.

The Spirit of the Lord spoke by me, And His word was on my tongue. 2 Samuel 23:2

The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.  2 Samuel 23:3

In another passage we see five "beings" or "persons" speaking if we are inclined to ignore symbolic language:

Scoffs Psalm 2:4NIV

These passages are not to teach that there is God, Rock (Jesus Christ) and separated out Spirit as side-by-side people.

The next passage enriches our view of God even further. The goal is not to establish The Church of the Watch Tower or The Church of the Rock. Rather, the goal is to show that however the pagan mind had tried to make God in their own image, God meets that need and fills that role.

Sing praises to the LORD (singular), enthroned in Zion; proclaim among the nations what he has done. Psalm 9:11<

I will love thee, O Lord, my strength. Psalm 18:1b

The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. Psalm 18:2

I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies. Psalm 18:3

The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid. Psalm 18:4

The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me. Psalm 18:5

In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.  Psalm 18:6

Again, this is almost identical to Stephens statements about God: when he called up God he spoke to Lord Jesus:

"And they stoned Stephen,

calling upon---God, and
saying,-----....--Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.  Acts 7:59
And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice,
Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.  Acts 7:60

If I call upon my President, saying "Mr. Clinton" we know that Mr. Clinton is the President, the one and only president.  Yes, even he wears several hats.

The Lord our God is one Lord means Jehovah is our only Elohim

As far as I know, no one has ever proposed that Jehovah means "three co-equal members of the God family standing side-by-side and face-to-face." And, yet, Scripture makes it clear that the True God as Jehovah is the One and Only elohim or elowah: thi-theism, third person, one godhead

For who is God (Elowah) save the Lord (Jehovah)? or who is a rock save our God (Elohim)? Psalm 18:31

And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. 1 Corinthians 10:4

God defines Himself many times as both the of or source and the by or means. For instance, God is the of and His Right Hand is His means:

For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many, 1 Corinthians 8:5

But to us there is but
........... one God,  the Father,
of
whom  are all things,  and we in him; and
........... one Lord  Jesus Christ,
by whom  are all things,  and we by

Paul says, in effect, Others might have many gods, but not Christians. Even we plan (of our spirit) and execute (by our hands) to accomplish a task. Isaiah prophesied of the composite nature of the One God:

For unto us a child (seed) is born,
unto us a
son is given:
Now, that is not two "people"-
and the government shall be upon his
shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God (El), The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.  Isaiah 9:7

King

Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. Isaiah 44:6

Wonderful Counselor

Who hath directed the Spirit of the Lord, or being his counsellor hath taught him? Isaiah 40:13
---For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 1 Timothy 2:5

The Son is

Mighty God

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. Revelation 1:8

Ever-
lasting
Father

Doubtless thou art our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O Lord, art our father, our redeemer; thy name is from everlasting. Isaiah 63:16
---Art thou not from everlasting, O Lord my God, mine Holy One? we shall not die. O Lord, thou hast ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty God, thou hast established them for correction. Revelation 1:12

Prince of
Peace
Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. Acts 5:31

And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him. Is.59:16

As
Lord Jesus spoke to the seven churches and concluded each letter with "hear what the Spirit says to the churches," He has always been the seven lamps or candlesticks or the seven spirit. He is always teaching His Word to put His Spirit or Mind into believers.

AND there shall come forth a rod out of the stem (the cut down stump) of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: Isaiah 11:1

And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord; Isaiah 11:2

And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: Isaiah 11:3

The word for quick understanding is Spirit. By having the Mind of God He would be able to understand all things. Yet, this was not a person within Him:

Ruwach (h7306) roo'-akh; a prim. root; prop. to blow, i. e. breathe; only (lit.) to smell or (by impl. perceive (fig. to anticipate, enjoy): - accept, smell, * touch, make of quick understanding.

O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, that dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: thou hast made heaven and earth. Isaiah 37:16  (God was the Word John 1:1)<

This Spirit is not a little person or family member:

One of the books of the time understood the point:

"And whereas ye have heard concerning the seventy weeks, hear also concerning the priesthood. For in each jubilee there shall be a priesthood" Testament of Levi 5:1

"And in the seventh week shall become priests, who are idolaters, adulterers, lovers of money, proud, lawless, lascivious, abusers of children and beasts. And after their punishment shall have come from the Lord, the priesthood shall fail" Testament of Levi 5:11

Or, in the words of Isaiah:

Then shall the Lord raise up a new priest. And to him
........... all the words of the Lord shall be revealed; (Isa 1:1f)
........... and he shall execute a righteous judgment upon the earth for a multitude of days.
........... ........... And his star shall arise in heaven as of a king. Testament of Levi 5:13-15

And the knowledge of the Lord shall be poured forth upon the earth,
........... as the water of the seas.
........... The heavens shall be opened, and
........... from the temple of glory shall come upon him sanctification,
........... with the Father's voice as from Abraham to Isaac.
........... And the glory of the Most High shall be uttered over him and
........... the spirit of understanding and sanctification
........... ........... shall rest upon him in the water. Testament of Levi 5:19,-22

And he shall open the gates of paradise, and shall remove the threatening sword against Adam, and he shall give to the saints to eat from the tree of life,

and the spirit of holiness shall be on them.

And Beliar shall be bound by him, and he shall give power to his children to tread upon the evil spirits. Testament of Levi 5:26-27

The Holy Spirit outpouring is a parable and Jesus said, and I paraphrase, parables are to fool the fools. We know that this is a parable because the Spirt was like a dove.

And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove (rock dove or pigeon), and lighting upon him: John 3:16
........... And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. John 3:17

The pagan GODDESSES were DAUGHTERS of the HOLY MOTHER whore. Therefore, the dove resting on the head of Jesus claims that He is the SON who speaks for a FATHER God.

Mind and Spirit not mind and Holy Spirit

Man, made in the image of God has a trinity nature. This is not a trinity of persons but a trinity of modes of being. Mankind has body, soul and spirit. The brain is part of the body used by the mind. The mind, in turn, has a spirit or mental disposition which defines the nature or condition of the whole person.

Paul, in 1 Corinthians 2:11 shows that the Spirit of God is the Mind of God which is the Mind of Christ.

For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

Paul sets the stage by drawing an analogy: as the mind or spirit of man knows the things of that person, the Mind or Spirit of God is God as a rational Being with Mind or Spirit. In the next verse, Paul had received the Mind or Spirit of God in order that he could know the things given by God. The Spirit of God is not disconnected from God Himself even as the spirit of the world is not separated. The spirit of the world is the mental disposition of the world under Satanic attack:

Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 1 Corinthians 2:12

Which things also we speak, not in the words which mans wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 1 Corinthians 2:13

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Corinthians 2:14

But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 1 Corinthians 2:15

For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:16

The Spirit of God is the Mind of God is the Mind of the Lord which is the Spirit or Mind of Christ.

Paul is a keen student of Isaiah who also showed that the Spirit of the Lord is that which can be instructed, directed, taught knowledge, taught judgment and the way of understanding. This is not a third, junior member of the god clan. Rather, the Mind or Spirit of God is God Himself because He is pure or Holy Spirit without flesh and bones. To attempt to direct the Spirit of the Lord is to attempt to teach the Lord

Who hath directed the Spirit of the Lord, or being his counsellor hath taught him? Isaiah 40:13

With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding? Isaiah 40:14

For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee. Isaiah 43:3

Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him. Isaiah 43:7

Therefore, O Aholibah, thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will raise up thy lovers against thee, from whom thy mind is alienated, and I will bring them against thee on every side; Ezekiel 23:22

God's Mind is nephesh or vitality
God's Spirit is the "mind of a rational being including its expression and function."

The next word up Strong's list shows that mind and spirit are the same:

Ruwach (h7308) roo'-akh; corresp. to 7306: - mind, spirit, wind.

God used this word to describe His Own Mind or Spirit because the Babylonians claimed that their spirit was the mind of the pagan gods:

But at the last Daniel came in before me, whose name was Belteshazzar, according to the name of my god, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods (elah) : and before him I told the dream, saying, Daniel 4:8

There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods;
........... and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom,
........... ........... like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king
........... ........... Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father,
........... ........... made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers; Dainel 5:11

The pagans had their elohim. They understood the spirit of the god to be the mind of the god to give light, understanding and wisdom. Isaiah 11, above, shows that it would be Messiah, the Branch, Who had God's Spirit which was a seven-fold description of Divine knowledge. This was not a little person separated out from God.

I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me (or without me) there is no saviour.  Isaiah 43:11

Biladey (h1107) bil-ad-ay';  except, without, besides: - beside, not (in), save, without

This is what the LORD says Israel's (1) King and (2) Redeemer, the (3)  LORD Almighty: I am the first (1) and I am the last (2); apart from me there is no God. --  Isaiah 44:6

(Apart means beside, not in, without.  There are not two other gods or persons beside Him or face to face.)  (Alpha to Omega includes all of the one alphabet)

God's name is often hyphenated to show Jehovah at work in several different relationships with mankind. Jesus or Joshua means Jehovah-saved.  He will be the son of Jehozadek or Jehovah-righted (righteousness).

And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the Lord: Zechariah 6:12

It is he who will build the temple of the LORD, and he will be clothed with majesty and will sit and rule (as King) on his throne. And he will be a priest on his throne. And there will be harmony between the two.' Zechariah 6:13

Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any. Isaiah 44:8

If there were two other gods standing beside God He didn't know it!

This is what the LORD says 'your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb: I am the LORD, who has made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who spread out the earth by myself, Isaiah 44:24

Alone is proof that God was not a pagan family. By myself means by myself. God is separated out from the pagan plural gods:

Bad (h905) bad;  from 909; prop. separation; by impl. a part of the body, branch of a tree, bar for carrying; fig. chief of a city; espec. (with prep. pref.) as adv., apart, only, besides: - alone, apart, bar, besides, branch, by self, of each alike, except, only, part, staff, strength.

I am the Lord (Jehovah), and there is none else, there is no God (Elohim) beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: That they may know from the rising of the sun (east), and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the Lord, and there is none else. Isaiah 45:5-6

None is Ayin (h369) ah'-yin; means to be nothing or not exist; a non-entity, never, no where, none, nor any thing, nothing (This eliminates pagan elohim but all other beings)

God said: I am One, I am alone, there is no god beside me, there is none else, there is nothing! How can we ignore this and make God into a polytheistic entity? God Himself is the Lord and there is none else. He did all levels of the creative process. He created some things and then formed, made and established others by what we now see as natural processes. They are supernatural because God Himself ordained them:

For thus saith the Lord (Jehovah) that created the heavens; God (Elohim) himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited:
........... I am the Lord; and there is none else. Isaiah.45:18

(Notice the common pattern, that the Lord spoke of God even as He swears by Himself because there is none other.)

This does not leave any room for the Holy Spirit as a third member of the God family to clean up the mess created by Father and Son!

Jehovah Elohim (Lord and God) is the us who created man, Ge. 2:7. One in Hebrew does not mean unity or harmony.  One people means unified though they are not one person

Echad (h259) ekh-awd'; numeral from 258. united (unify one's thoughts), i. e. one; or (as an ordinal) first: alone, altogether...

Declare what is to be, present it--let them take counsel together. Who foretold this long ago, who declared it from the distant past?

Was it not I, the LORD? (Jehovah)
And there is no God (Elohim) apart from me, a righteous (1) God and a (2) Savior; there is none but me. Isaiah 45:21

Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Isaiah 46:9 (There could be no co-equal gods with Him)

Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: Isaiah 46:10

The Lord our God is one Lord as a Trinity Did Not Create the World

Among the pagans, the gods plural were the elohim. Without seeing this as a parable scholars are absolutely sure that this passage is identical to the Babylonian story of creation by the gods.  God speaks of the pagan Gods to warn Israel, just coming into Canaan, that He is the True God who must replace the many elohim of Canaan.

However, Jeremiah makes it clear that the Lord Jehovah was the one and only true Elohim:

But the Lord (One Jehovah) is

the true God (elohim),
he is the
living God, and
an
everlasting king: at
his
wrath the earth shall tremble (like wind-blown grain), and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation. Jeremiah 10:10
........... And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.  John 20:28

Declare what is to be, present it--let them take counsel together. Who foretold this long ago, who declared it from the distant past?

Was it not I, the LORD? (Jehovah)
And there is no God (Elohim) apart from me,
a
righteous (1) God (Elohim)
and a (2) Savior;
there is none but me.

The elohim were the heros who were elevated to godhood when they died. A dead song writer or instrument inventor was worshipped as having brought down the magic of the gods or elohim. They did not exist as gods and they would die just like anyone who believes that they are gods.

Tri-theism says that there were three co-equal persons (people) made of God stuff. This, they believe, is the meaning of Elohim. Now Elohim meant a triad of three primary gods or plural els and thousands of lesser gods. God anticipated these careless men and said that the elohim did not do it. He used the word elohim to show that He the One True El did what the elohim claimed for themselves as self-appointed gods:

Thus shall ye say unto them, The god (plural Els or Elohim) that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens.  Jeremiah 10:11

But God made the earth by his power;
he founded the world by his
wisdom
and stretched out the heavens by his
understanding. Jeremiah 10:12
Scripture also sees this as Arm, Spirit and Word.

When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind (Spirit) out of his treasures.  Jeremiah 10:13

(God speaks by expelling wind (spirit) from between His lips (double-edged sword)

Jesus said that the mysteries were hidden "from the foundation of the world" by parables to hide the Spiritual truth from the creed makers who would use His knowledge as a magical weapon to seduce people into creating godless institutions (See Isa 48). Therefore, as in the creation accounts Scripture uses symbolic or parabolic language to confuse the Babylon religions who claimed to have all power:

BLESS the Lord, O my soul. O Lord (Jehovah) my God (Elohim), thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty. Psalm 104:1

Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings (flutters) of the wind (spirit) : Psalm 104:3

Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain: Psalm 104:2

Who maketh his angels spirits (wind); his ministers a flaming fire: Psalm 104:4

Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever. Psalm 104:5

Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains. Psalm 104:6
........... At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away. Psalm 104:7

Yet I am the Lord (Jehovah) thy God (Elohim) from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me.  Hosea 13:4

Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?  Malachi 2:10

This is Lord (Father) Jesus (Son) Christ (Spirit anointed).

But thou, Beth-lehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah,
........... yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel;
........... whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. Micah 5:2

Remember what Isaiah wrote:

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

It is important to repeat that Jesus said that the mysteries had been hidden from the foundation of the world. His disciples asked Him why He spoke in parables which even they could not understand. Jesus said that He spoke to the mass meetings in parables because they were blind and deaf and they would be kept that way:

All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them: Matthew 13:34

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world. Matthew 13:35

Job, as well as many other writers, speak of the creation in symbolic language. For instance, the use of the word elohim was to show that while there were tens of thousands of els, there was only one Jehovah Who created everything, alone, by Himself, there was no one beside him or without Him:

BUT Job answered and said,

. How hast thou helped him that is without power? how savest thou the arm that hath no strength?
. How hast thou counselled him that hath no wisdom? and how hast thou plentifully declared the thing as it is?
. To whom hast thou uttered words? and whose spirit came from thee?
. Dead things are formed from under the waters, and the inhabitants thereof.
. Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering.
. He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.
. He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.
. He holdeth back the face of his throne, and spreadeth his cloud upon it.
. He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.
. The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof.
. He divideth the sea with his power, and by his understanding he smiteth through the proud.
. By his spirit (wind) he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.
Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand?

MOREOVER Job continued his parable, and said, Job 27:1

Mashal (h4912) maw-shawl'; appar. from 4910 in some orig. sense of superiority in mental action; prop. a pithy maxim, usually of a metaphorical nature; hence a simile (as an adage, poem, discourse): - byword, like, parable, proverb.

If we are not careful, we will build our whole creed on the parables and never understand the Divine truth hidden by the Lord from the foundation, waiting like hidden pearls of great price for the honest seeker not interested in territory protection.
