Stone Campbell Hermeneutics John Mark Hick
Thomas Olbricht. Aristotelian rhetorical analysis. Aristotle repudiates all that the New Hermeneutic constructs.
John Mark Hicks: THEOLOGY, not MERE FACTS, SHAPES how we OURSELVES enter into the STORY OF GOD and live it out in our lives.
The documents collected in the Bible record the story of many nations and religions.
Amos 9:7 Are ye not as children of the Ethiopians unto me, O children of Israel? saith the LORD.
Have not I brought up Israel out of the land of Egypt?
and the Philistines from Caphtor,
and the Syrians from Kir?
All of the "gods" are named where forms of Elohim and Jehovah are generic. To Moses He is "I AM the Lord (yhwh) god (elohim) of Abraham, Issac and Jacob. These probably CANNOT be Facts to Theologians who claim to teach the TRUE FACT. However, the fuzzy record in Scripture and other documents become FACTS when researchers dig up confirmation. Theologians who get ruptured over Genesis. The simple definition of words proves that Moses wrote about the destruction of the free hunters and gatherers by City State. Moses wrote after the Exiles reverted to Instrumental-Trinitarian-Perverted "play" and as Amos and Stephen should inform anyone that God sentenced the Israelites to exile and death. Job and Jeremiah repeat the "creation" events and calls them parables.
Matt. 13:33 Another parable spake he unto them;
The kingdom of heaven is LIKE unto leaven, which a woman took,
and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.
Matt. 13:34 All these things spake Jesus unto the MULTITUDES in parables;
and without a parable spake he not unto them:
Matt. 13:35 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet,
saying, I will open my mouth in parables;
I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world
It is a FACT that no one, including David, ever WORSHIPPED by singing or playing instruments.
It is ANTI-fact when anyone insists and sows massive discord by suggesting that they hear A spirit commanding them to hire performance preachers, employ or even permit terrible Worship Teams to preside OVER the students of Jesus.WORSHIP demands and MARKS those who Bow Down or Fall on their Face and pronounces ANATHEMA on any thing (guitar, banjo, drums) or person who dedicates their body or rhetorical or musical talent to enhance an overt worship service.
Anathema.and.Max.Lucado.html
Anathema and Instrumental Musical Worship
Anathema is anything so sacrificed or devoted to the Lord and could not be redeemed (Num. 18:14; Lev. 27:28, 29); and hence the idea of exterminating was connected with the word. The Hebrew verb (haram) is frequently used of the extermination of idolatrous nations.

As regards the public services, I say that his father would have done better not to perform them than to spend so much of his substance: for it was on account of this that he won the confidence of the people and overthrew the democracy; and so our memory of these deeds must be more abiding than of the offerings he has set up1 in record of those services.1 In the temples at Athens, Delphi, etc.

Jesus said that He Spoke the FACTS God put into His MOUTH. THAT is the meaning of Spirit or Breath. It is a FACT that Jesus taught that. Theologians who do not believe that Jesus was telling the TRUTH, have no right to change what Jesus said. They should be honorable and not get HIRED to change the document.
Jesus said "My Father and I are One." That is FACT because "one" and the context said "I teach what the father teaches." We teach the same thing.
Theology of Hicks articulated by Leonard Allen use "imagination" with no historical evidence and contradicting Scripture that "God was CHRIST IN THE FLESH.
Theology: the Jewish Theologians said that Jesus was a MAN "makest thyself God."
FACT: Jesus said "you blaspheme because I said, "I AM the Son of God."
FACT is that Jesus said that truth had been hidden in parables from the foundation of the world. That was to HIDE from the THEOLOGIANS
Theologians or the Wise or Sophists (speakers, singers, instrument players) think that it is GOD Who is confused and they must be talented and trained to "UNPACK" the Package they are not supposed to understand.
FACT, Paul said that the Church (school) is built upon or EDUCATED by the Prophets and Apostles.
THEOLOGY is Purpose Driven unaware that the Church is defined inclusively and exclusively in the Prophets.
The World has been very blessed by those who are TAUGHT the positive messages of Scripture and are able to understand the ANTITHESIS by which the New Testament rejects the Violent.
Theology has been responsible for most of the Violence in the World.
John 12:48 He that rejecteth ME,
and receiveth not my WORDS, [Excludes Rhetoric, Singing, playing instruments]
hath one that judgeth him:
the WORD that I have SPOKEN,
the same shall judge him in the last day.Those who do not BELIEVE that should be bound by minimal Civilized Ethics not to Sow Discord by promoting Self-Exhibition pseudo-religion to become rich and famous.
The WORD or LOGOS is God Almighty Governing or Regulating by His W.O.R.D.S. Because He is God and Hicks is not, He does not need ANTI-Word Theologians Purpose Driven to Violate that Word and Sow discord.
John Mark Hicks and all theologians DENY that God can have Jesus SPEAK His WORD which humanoids can understand. Hicks is correct in one respect.
BAPTISM SAVES because that is how we REQUEST A Good Conscience or A holy spirit so we can enroll in the School of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 3. Theologians who go beyond SPEAKING what Scripture has SPOKEN about Baptism will not be able to READ the Scriptures or HEAR the Scriptures when they are PREACHED by being READ. You have to be slapped with STRONG DELUSIONS to deny that God created mankind able to understand without a clergy.Aristotle's Rhetorica (1404a),
But since the whole business of Rhetoric is to influence opinion,
we must pay attention to it, not as being right, but necessary;
for, as a matter of right, one should aim at nothing more in a speech
than how to avoid exciting pain or pleasure.

John Mark Hicks and all theologians deny what Jesus claimed
John 7:16 Jesus answered them, and said,
My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
John 7:17 If any man will do his will,
he shall know of the doctrine,
whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.
John 7:18 He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory:
but he that seeketh his glory that sent him,
the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

A Christian is a Disciple of Christ is a STUDENT of What Jesus Who was MADE LORD and CHRIST at Age 30 called SCRIPTURE. Holy Scripture consists of the Prophets and other Prophecies Concerning Me. The Apostles were eye--and ear witnesses of RECORDERS of Jesus making these prophecies more certain. A Christian as an "enlightened" disciple blasphemes God's Spirit if they Private Interpret or Further Expound. Therefore, a Theologian CONFESSES that he is not a Disciple of the Record.
SPIRIT is defined as the WORDS which God put into the mouths of the Prophets. John Mark Hicks says these are not FACTS and Keith Stanglin debunks Jesus and Paul for affirming Moses or any prophet.
Jesus was sent to make these PROPHECIES "CONCERNING ME" more certain. Men like Peter as Eye-- and Ear--witness left us a MEMORY and dares anyone to private interpret or further expound. The Prophets defined the Ekklesia or Church of Messiah both inclusively and exclusively. Men like Isaiah and Jeremiah REPUDIATES theologians who "make the lambs dumb before the slaughter" (Sorcery) with mechanical instruments as the weapons of Sorcery or Witchcraft.
1John 5:10
He that believeth on the SON OF GOD
hath the witness IN himself:
he that believeth not God
hath made MADE HIM A LIAR
BECAUSE he believeth not the RECORD that God gave of his Son.
1John 5:11 And THIS is THE record,
that God hath given to us eternal life,
and this life is in his Son.
By definition, anyone becoming a HIRELING as a Theologian DENIES the record (fact) that God left.
3John 12 Demetrius hath good report of all men,
and of the TRUTH itself: yea, and we also bear record;
and ye know that our RECORD is true.
Rev. 1:2 Who bare record of the WORD of God,
and of the TESTIMONY of Jesus Christ,
and of all things that he saw.
Rev. 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him.
And he said unto me, See thou do it not:
I am thy fellowservant,
and of thy brethren that have the TESTIMONY of Jesus:
worship God: for the TESTIMONY of Jesus is the SPIRIT of prophecy.
SPIRIT if figurative or a PARABLE to HIDE from the Wise, Sophists, Speakers, Singers, Instrument Players
John 6:63 It is the SPIRIT that quickeneth;
the flesh profiteth nothing:
the words that I speak unto you,
they are spirit, and they are life.
John 6:64 But there are some of you that believe not.
For Jesus knew from the beginning
who they were that believed not,
and who should betray him.
John 6:65 And he said, Therefore SAID I unto you,
that no man can come unto me,
except it were GIVEN unto him of my Father.
This is a FACT. Jesus was sent for a tiny band of Lost Spirits: they are NOT of the World, the Ecumenical or the kingdom of the Devil.
Lipscomb University teaches that GOD CAME IN THE FLESH.
Fact teaches that the MAN Jesus of Nazareth CAME IN THE FLESH 30 years
before God Sanctified (at Baptism) and Sent Him as both LORD and CHRIST.
John says that THEOLOGIANS are ANTICHRIST.
Theologians (by the real meaning of the word) confess to be the teachers of Apollo or Apollyon.
The "father-mother" of Musical Worship team IS IN FACT the unleashed Apollon.
His LOCUSTS are the MUSES and music is defined from mystery meaning "to make the lambs dumb before the slaughter" so they as dirty ADULTERESSES (in the literature) can emasculate male leadership and give everyone the Sting of Death. John 6:38 For I came down from heaven,
not to do mine own will,
but the will of him that sent me.
John 6:39 And this is the Fathers will which hath sent me,
that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing,
but should raise it up again at the last day.
John 6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me,

John 6:45 It is written in the prophets,
And they shall be all taught of God.
Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.Isaiah 54:13
All your sons will be taught of the Lord;
And the well-being of your sons will begreat.
Jeremiah 31:33-34
But
this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord, I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. Matt. 22:14 For MANY are called, but few are CHOSEN.
John 6:46 Not that any man hath seen the Father,
save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father
In the Theology of Joe Biden "Truth is more important than FACTS." God is WORD in the same class that He is LIGHT or LIFE. SPIRIT is never a person but is always defined as "God put His WORD into the MOUTH of a MOSES (The Book of The Covenant), Elijah (the Prophets) and LASTLY the Mouth of the MAN Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus never spoke on His OWN to mark Him as the opposite of the sons of the Devil. He put this WORD into the MOUTH of the Apostles and they left their "memory" in "parts" as eye-- and ear-- witnesses.

Plat. Soph. 223a to call the art of flattery or of making things pleasant.Theaetetus Certainly.
Stranger But the class which proposes to carry on its conversations for the sake of virtue and demands its pay in cashdoes not this deserve to be called by another name?
Theaetetus Of course.
Stranger And what is that name? Try to tell.
Theaetetus It is obvious; for I think we have discovered the sophist. And therefore by uttering that word I think I should give him the right name. [223b]
Stranger Then, as it seems, according to our present reasoning, Theaetetus
ghe part of appropriative, coercive, hunting art which hunts animals, land animals, tame animals, man,
privately, for pay, is paid in cash,
claims to give education, and is a hunt after rich and promising youths,
mustso our present argument concludesbe called sophistry.
Plat. Soph. 224aStranger Take, therefore, the liberal arts 1 in general that constantly go about from city to city, bought in one place and carried to another and soldpainting, and conjuring, and the many other things that affect the soul, which are imported and sold partly for its entertainment and partly for its serious needs; we cannot deny that he who carries these about and sells them constitutes a merchant properly so called, no less than he whose business is the sale of food and drink.
Stranger One part of this soul-merchandising might very properly be called the art of display, might it not? But since the other part, though no less ridiculous than the first, is nevertheless a traffic in knowledge, must we not call it by some name akin to its business?
1 The word mousikē, here rendered liberal arts, is much more inclusive than the English word music, designating, as it does, nearly all education and culture except the purely physical. In the Athens of Socrates' day

W.R. Walker, in Christian Standard, May 27, 1939, said: "There are two areas in our religious living in which the authority of Christ must be recognized. The first embraces all his teaching and that of his inspired followers, the `vocal area'; but there is another area, the `area of silence."' He further said:
"I am persuaded that Christ has authority in the `areas of silence.'
Christ, by his silence, in every situation concerning which he has left no direct teaching,
has bestowed on me this authority to act for myself."
John Mark Hicks: The progressives used THE PRINCIPLE of Scripture to regulate their practice
while the conservatives followed the specifics of the Scripture as their regulatory authority.
This difference regarding the regulative principle goes back to Geneva (Calvin) vs. Zurich (Zwingli). (
See the resources at the end of the post to follow this debate in contemporary conservative Presbyterianism.)
Scripture is largely the ANTITHESIS of Pagans. Those OF the World or Kosmos show up as the Ecumenical of the Kingdom of the Devil. The sons of the Devil SPEAK ON THEIR WON but the Sons of God ALWAYS "Speak that which is written for our LEARNING." Peter outlawed private interpretation or FURTHER EXPOUNDING which Jesus taught to eye-- and ear--witnesses. There is no INSTITUTION beyond being a School of the Word.
The Christian Standard took the progressive (broader) view
which emphasized principles and expediency

while the Gospel Advocate took the conservative (stricter)January, 1860: "IF any one had told us, forty years ago, that we would live to see the day when those professing to be Christians; who claim the Holy Scriptures as their only rule of faith and practice; those under the command, and who profess to appreciate the meaning of the command, to "observe all things whatever I have commanded you," would bring any instrument of music into a worshiping assembly, and use it there in worship, we should have repelled the idea as an idle dream. But this only shows how little we know of what men would do; or how little we saw of the power or the adversary to subvert the purest principles, to deceive the hearts of the simple, to undermine the very foundation of all piety, and turn the very worship of God itself into an attraction for the people of the world, an entertainment, or amusement.
It never entered into our mind that people once enlightened, and made partakers of the heavenly calling, could so easily be turned away from the contemplation of the ever-blessed God, his wonderful love for man, and the scheme of redemption; from our Lord, the Christ; all he said and did; his great sufferings for us, his death, resurrection, ascension and coronation; being crowned Lord of all, imparting gifts to men; his grace, his blood, the remission of sins, the impartation of the Spirit; the ransom of man from the grave; the change of his vile body into an immortal [411] body; the now heaven and now earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness; the presence of the Almighty Father, and the Lord Jesus, the Christ; the pure and the holy angels, with songs of everlasting joys in the great assembly of the ransomed of the Lord, out of every nation, and kindred, and tribe, and people, from under the whole heaven, to dwell with God and the Lamb forever and ever--
we say, that we had no idea that people could be so easily turned away from the contemplation of all this, and all the pure and heavenly aspirations it inspires, to the mere contemplation of the pleasing sounds of an instrument of music, of the melodious voices of men and women, when trained in artistic music, and taught how to perform their part well in an operatic drama.
view which emphasized specified authority and prohibitive silence.
Scripture and all historic scholars and founders of religious institutions rested totally Upon the Apostles and Prophets taught and enabled by gifts from Jesus in His STATE as Holy Spirit. Apostolic meant the preserved Scriptures. Apostolic meant to the Catholics and others that the next Presbyter be someone to guarantee that the Scriptures were Preserved.
After sowing massive discord within the Disciples-Christians the word PSALLO was used for the first time in an attempt to prove that plucking a bowstring, pubic hair or harp strings with the HAND ONLY was justification for wind and string instruments and a whole Performance Sect. Neither they nor anyone I know understands that only SPEAK or READ the Scriptures was clearly commanded.
Speak "that which is written for our learning
Withe ODE (sorcery) and PSALLO (making war or perverted sex) SILENT.
While doing Theology and "worshiping" God in houses built by hands and worshiping with the works of human hands there is no reason that a professional religionist should be either Bible or history literate.
Plutarch XXIV. But when he was once come into Asia, having left Lucius Censorinus governor in Greece, and that he had felt the riches and pleasures of the east parts, and that princes, great lords, and kings, came to wait at his gate for his coming out: and that queens and princesses, to excel one another, gave him very rich presents,and in their songs they called him Bacchus, father of mirth, courteous and gentle
and came to see him, curiously setting forth themselves,
and using all art that might be to shew their beauty,
to win his favour the more (Caesar in the mean space turmoiling [troubling] his wits and body
in civil Wars at home,
Antonius living merrily and quietly abroad), he easily fell again to his old licentious life.

all these flocked in his court, and bare the whole sway: and after that all went awry.
For every one gave themselves to riot and excess, when they saw he delighted in it: and all Asia was like to the city Sophocles speaketh of in one of his tragedies:

These are the BEASTS of Revelation and the MARKERS. This is the PATTERN MARKED by music as ONLY PLEASURE, of the PROGRESSIVES

The former saw instrumental music as an expediency (in both the Stone-Campbell and Presbyterian traditions)
and the latter saw instrumental music as an apostate innovation
that corrupted the worship of God (in both the Stone-Campbell and Presbyterian traditions).
This was not the general population which deserted the Stoneites and began Preaching Campbell's well-educated facts.
There is no MUSIC in the modern sense in Scripture or up to and after the Reformation.
Matthew 28 Jesus defines the CENI Versus Lying Wonders
Jeremiah 7 and the Law of Silence
The denial of Christ's inclusive and exclusive commandments for Messiah's future REST in the Prophets (only), is in contrast to the STONE-Campbell Movement building "theaters for holy entertainment" into which God will never visit.
You will have to elevate the temperature of the Phd DEGREES to invalidate Peter's command that these Prophets and the prophecies made more certain must NOT be private-interpret or further expounded: that would spit in the face of the Holy Spirit OF Christ who is the Author and Finisher of Both.
It is a recorded fact that a small band of theologians [Study of Apollon-Abaddon in history] set out to RESTRUCTURE Churches of Christ in their own image. Then and now they followed the same path to reach the same 100 year old goal. Unfortunately, "neuter" theology does not reproduce itself and after the winds of change have passed "those scarcely saved" pick up the pieces and rebuild.

The ANTI-Patternists or ANTI-sectarians fail to grasp or intentionally DISOBEY The Direct command and approved inferences of Jesus Christ.
1. Christ prophesied and Jesus put into place "The SECT that is called the WAY."
2. The Way is the ROAD which is a very narrow, exclusive PATTERN
3. The WORLD or Kosmos includes the ECUMENICAL or masses.
The Jesus SECT is a Little Flock picked out of the MEGA World View: Many or most are called or invited but FEW -- almost none -- are chosen. The Most deny the Jesus pattern and claim that "a" spirit told them about a New Paradigm. The Jesus Road or pattern is ALWAYS Said-Listen or Written-Read.
John 8:23 And he SAID unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from ABOVE:
ye are OF this world; I am NOT OF this world. [ecumenical self-willed]
John 8:24 I SAID therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins:
for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
John 8:25 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus SAITH unto them,
Even the same that I SAID unto you from the beginning. [Not Genesis 1:1]Jesus obeyed the CENI: you don't need to!
John 8:26 I have many things to SAY and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true;
and I SPEAK to the world those things which I have HEARD of him.
Jesus SPAKE only the Words which The One God the Father breathed (spirit) into Him. That revelation was without metron most often meaning without meter. That's good because the Anti-Patternists add meter to the pattern and Jesus forces them to just fabricate their own songs and sermons.
John 8:28 Then SAID Jesus unto them,
When YOU have lifted up the Son of man,
........... then shall ye know that I am he,
........... And that I do nothing of myself;
........... but as my Father hath taught me,
........... I SPEAK these things.
As Prophesied, they musically mocked Jesus to the cross.
Matthew 27:28 And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.
Matthew 27:31 And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him,
and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.

You don't have to!
John 8:30 As he SPAKE these words, many believed on him.
John 8:31 Then SAID Jesus to those Jews which believed on him,
If ye continue in MY WORD, [Logos: regulative principle: CENI]
then are ye my disciples indeed;
You don't have to!
John 8:32 And ye shall know THE TRUTH, and the truth shall make you free.
John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
2Cor. 6:7 By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,
James 1:18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
John 8: 35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever:
but the Son abideth ever.
John 8: 36 If the Son therefore shall make you free,
ye shall be free indeed.The glorified Son was given the promise or assignment as Holy Spirit Comforter: John said that the name of the comforter is Jesus Christ the Righteous.
Jesus did not abdicate His Throne to a spirit person. If you deny the PATTERN you are defined as ANTI-Christ because He walked a carefully defined plan.
The Kenites or Cainites gained control of the Priesthood almost from the beginning: God had turned them over to worship the STARRY HOST because of musical idolatry were NOT worthy of hearing Jesus. Therefore, He spoke to them in parables. THESE were predestinated to be lost based on their own choices.
When people question the Words of Christ they question God and HE sends strong delusions so that they believe a lie and ae damned. When you fall you cannot get up and THAT was the message about the FALL produced by music.
John 8:37 I know that ye are Abrahams seed; but ye seek to kill me,
........... because my WORD (logos) hath no place in you.John 8: 38 I SPEAK that which I have seen with my Father:
........... and ye do that which ye have seen with your father. [the Devil]
John 8: 39 They answered and SAID unto him,
It is true that the Campbells learned about the Regulative Principle by reading John Calvin. However, it is bad news when people do not grasp that the LOGOS is the Regulative Principle. The Greeks would think of Hermes or Mercury as the LOGOS but of musical worship, homosexuality, the messenger of the Olympus gods and the chief of liars. God made Jesus to be both Lord and Christ and Word and Grace: HE is the one mediator between God and man which defines why both male and female are to be silent in church so that everyone can be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth.
........... Abraham is our father. Jesus SAID unto them,
........... If ye were Abrahams children, ye would do the works of Abraham.
LITERATE PEOPLE UNDERSTOOD THE REGULATIVE PRINCIPLE:
Aristot. Nic. Eth. 1102b.1o But there also appears to be another element in the soul,
which, though irrational
[alogos, without logos, B rutes, animals, The Crowd, Okhlos popular assemblies (in a contemptuous sense)yet in a manner participates in rational principle. [logou]
sarkōn
In self-restrained and unrestrained people we approve their principle,
or the rational part of because it urges them in the right way and exhorts them to the best course;
but their nature seems also
to contain another element beside that of rational principle,
which combats and resists that principle.
[16] Exactly the same thing may take place in the soul as occurs with the body in a case of paralysis:
when the patient wills to move his limbs to the right
Aristot. Nic. Eth. 1102b.20 they swerve to the left; and similarly in unrestrained persons their impulses run counter to their principle. But whereas in the body we see the erratic member, in the case of the soul we do not see it; nevertheless it cannot be doubted that in the soul also there is an element beside that of principle, which opposes and runs counter to principle (though in what sense the two are distinct does not concern us here).
[17] But this second element also seems, as we said, to participate in rational principle;
at least in the self-restrained man it obeys the behest of principle
and no doubt in the temperate and brave man it is still more amenable, for all parts of his nature are in harmony with principle. [18]
Note: 1 According to the psychology here expounded, the intellect has a plan or principle, in the sense of understanding principle, and being able to reason and make a plan: in other words, it is fully RATIONAL. The part of man's nature has a plan or principle in so far as it is capable of following or obeying a principle. It happens that this relationship of following or obeying can itself be expressed by the words to have logos in another sense of that phrase, viz. to take account of, pay heed to.
To be precise the writer should say that the part logon ekhei tou logou has logos (takes account) of the logos. The phrase has yet a third sense in mathematics, where to have logos (ratio) means to be rational in the sense of commensurable.
WORSHIP is the diversionary word to make certain that The Church of Christ cannot function as A School of the LOGOS: it is so defined as the Qahal or Ekklesia in the Wilderness after the nobility including the Jacob-cursed and God abandoned Levites. After the transgression which was the instrumental idolatry of the Egyptian triad, God turned them over to worship the STARRY HOST. When false teachers speak of a WORSHIP OBSERVATION they use the Levites and the God-abandoned Civil-Military-Clergy complex. The rise of the original Babylon Mother of Harlots (Rev 17) uses the same self-speakers, singers and instrument players: John calls them SORCERERS and said they will be cast alive into the Lake of Fire.
John says that all religious teknokrats, singers, instrument players and "grinders" which identifies prostitute. A religious prostitute is one who corrupts the Word by "selling learning at retail" beyond that which is written for our learning. John calls the sorcerers who HAD deceived the whole world. Sorcery identifies the ancient Babylon mother of harlots which agrees with the Bible and recorded history of what everyone knew: religious rhetoricians, singers, instrument players and actors are OLD SPIRITS and their intention is to Seek and Destroy all they can seduce.
THE ANCIENTS BEFORE THE POST-LITERATE ERA OF THEOLOGIANS KNEW THE MEANING OF MUSIC
That's why the DIRECT command of Paul was to silence SELF-pleasure pointing to rhetoric, singing, playing instruments or anything that arouses "mental excitement" or the "laded burden" of Jesus.
"But we have already spoken of spectacles: there remains one thing which is to be overcome by us,
that we be not captivated by those things which penetrate to the innermost perception. (emotions only)
For all those things which are unconnected with words, (just speaking in tongues)
that is, pleasant sounds of the air and of strings,
may be easily disregarded, because they do not adhere to us, and cannot be written...Is God, therefore, the contriver both of the mind, and of the voice, and of the tongues, unable to speak eloquently? Yea, rather, with the greatest foresight,
He wished those things which are divine to be without adornment,
that all might understand the things which He Himself spoke to all."
Therefore God made all things to supply a contest between two things.Those enticements of pleasures, then, are the instruments
of that whose only business it is to subdue virtue,
and to shut out justice from men.
With these soothing influences and enjoyments it captivates their souls;
for it knows that pleasure is the contriver of death. (Lactantius,
The Divine Institutes, Ante-Nicene Fathers, VII, p. 188).
Only then can one follow the Direct Command of the NEVER MUSICAL passages to "use one mind and one mouth to speak that which is written for our learning." Or comforting by the Scriptures.
The almost universal understanding of those who impose any performance especially the sounds of strings and wind was that the people are NOT simply uninformed: they are Purpose Driven to fully occupy the attention of the mind (the worship meaning) so that they can WORSHIP the Mother Goddess which is defined as "giving attention to the flute-girls or harp-girls). No society was so far gone that they tolerated flute-boys and harp-boys: the practice was to "tar and feather them and drive them across the county line."
Aristot. Nic. Eth. 1175b.1
But things that are akin to things of different kinds must themselves differ in kind.
[3] A still clearer proof may be drawn
from the hindrance that activities
receive from the pleasure derived from other activities.
For instance, persons fond of the flute
cannot give their attention to a philosophical discussion [The LOGOS or Regulative Principle]
when they overhear someone playing the flute,
because they enjoy music more than the activity in which they are engaged;
therefore the pleasure afforded by the music of the flute
impairs the activity of study.
[4] The same thing occurs in other cases when a man tries to do two things at once; the pleasanter activity drives out the other, the more so if it is much more pleasant, until the other activity ceases altogether.
Hence, when we enjoy something very much, we can hardly do anything else; and when we find a thing only mildly agreeable, we turn to some other occupation; for instance, people who eat sweets at the theater do so especially when the acting is bad.
[ 5] And since our activities [of the flute] are sharpened, prolonged and improved by their own pleasure, and impaired by the pleasures of other activities, it is clear that pleasures differ widely from each other. In fact alien pleasures have almost the same effect on the activities as their own pains; since, when an activity causes pain, this pain destroys it, for instance, if a person finds writing or doing sums unpleasant and irksome; for he stops writing or doing sums, because the activity is painful.
Many or most are called or invited but FEW are chosen as if by fire. Therefore, the MARK of the MANY is that they will do anything to make sure that Jesus Christ as the VICTIM is "made dumb before the slaughter." The present state of apostate universities is the product of a few men interested in money, power or else agents of satan such as Judas whose BAG was for carrying the mouth pieces of wind instruments ALWAYS attached to a flute case of obscene worship teams.
Aristotle on Politics 8Once-Christian Colleges especially the Bible departments have been confiscated by deliberate misleaders and they make certain that no one can BUY or SELL at the institutions or the continuous conferences unless they are part of the gang:
2. or whether we ought rather to think that music tends in some degree to virtue (music being capable of producing a certain quality of character
just as gymnastics are capable of producing a certain quality of body,
music accustoming men to be able to rejoice rightly);
3. or that it contributes something to intellectual entertainment and culture (for this must be set down as a third alternative among those mentioned).
Now it is not difficult to see that one must not make amusement the object of the education of the young;
for amusement does not go with learning--learning is a painful process.
A cabal is a group of people united in some close design together, usually to promote their private views or interests in a church, state, or other community, often by intrigue. Cabals are sometimes secret societies composed of a few designing persons, and at other times are manifestations of emergent behavior in society or governance on the part of a community of persons who have well established public affiliation or kinship. The term can also be used to refer to the designs of such persons or to the practical consequences of their emergent behavior, and also holds a general meaning of intrigue and conspiracyPaul M. Blowers Leaven V14.I4: Theologians are about RESOURCMENT: Leonard Allen calls it "critical engagement with the past. "Such involves intelligent, discreet conversation with those historic sources of Christian thought and practices that have much to teach about worship and the interpretation of scripture:
They (saints and martyrs, bishops, church fathers and theologians, reformers, missionaries, et al.) have historically MEDIATED the transmission of the "apostolic tradition."Apostolic Succession meant that when a Bishop died He guaranteed that everyone would be APOSTOLIC which was not a tradition. Jesus defined Holy Scripture as the PROPHETS and other PROPHECIES Concerning Me. God put His WORD into the MOUTH of A Moses, the Prophets and Lastly His Son Jesus. Jesus certified or made these prophecies More Certain and God's SPIRIT validated that by Signs and Wonders. The Apostles were eye-- and ear-- witnesses and men like Peter left His PART for out memory. This would mark anyone who did not speak that which was written as a false teacher.
They have imitated the suffering servanthood of the apostles, organized and adapted roles of ministry, made decisions about canonical Christian scripture, identified a coherent Rule of Faith (regula fidei), negotiated conflict within the church, covenanted again and again with Jesus Christ in eucharistic worship, exemplified missionary witness in contextualizing the gospel in their native cultures,
Eph. 2:20 And are built upon [Educated] the foundation of the apostles and prophets,
Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
This intends to OBSOLETE the LOGOS because He did not know as much as the post-moderns who HEAR VOICES telling them to lie to God and about the God in Christ in the olden Bible. That clearly marks ANTI-LOGOS which is ANTI-CHRIST.
The task of faithful men like John Calvin was to IGNORE the history of religionism and return to the original source for TEACHING but not for the pattern of EMERGENT fads and foolishness.
THERE IS NO REGULATIVE PRINCIPLE FOR THOSE WHO CLAIM TO BE POST-MODERN AND BEYOND THE SACRED PAGES.

For this cause sent he me to instruct thee in all these things, to be both a speaker of words and a doer of deeds. Wherefore, dear child, I am not minded hereafter [445] to be left alone without thee, nay, not though a god himself should pledge him to strip from me my old age and render me strong in youth as in the day when first I left Hellas, the home of fair women, fleeing from strife with my father Amyntor, son of Ormenus; for he waxed grievously wroth against me by reason of his fair-haired concubine, [450] whom himself he ever cherished, and scorned his wife, my mother. Because THE meaning of turning to Hermes (pagan Logos) instead of Christ in the prophets and apostles has at its CORE imposing INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC into the School of the Word, Blowers and everyone would truly be amazed (or not) if they discovered that the Church Fathers and reformers were faithful to the Scriptures by denying any role for self-speakers, singers or instrument players whom Jesus marked as hypocrites. He might be amazed that the eucharistic concept is "giving thanks" and not participating in the perpetual shedding of the blood of Jesus. Consistent with all ReligionHoods, Hermes is also the mark of the gender confused. Moving rebuttal to false teachings further down, we are happy to append the latest fad from a Nashville church:
Thou has Turned My Mourning into Dancing. Perhaps by God's design, they didn't read enough to understand that this is the GENDER mark well documented by Christ in Isaiah 3.

The Romans, at their own request, obtain from them skilled performers-the proper seasons-the name too, for it is said they are called Ludi, from Lydi. And though Varro derives the name of Ludi from Ludus, that is, from play, as they called the Luperci also Ludii, because they ran about making sport; still that sporting of young men belongs, (playful or ludicrous) in his view, to festal days and temples, and objects of religious veneration.
Matthew 27:29 And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand:
and they bowed the knee before him,
and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!
Matthew 27:31 And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him,
and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.
illūdo (inl-When they MOCKED Jesus the prophecy used the word Alarm or Triumph which is to play loud wind instruments and make a loud rejoicing sound.

- Shall I move my white foot in the night-long dance, aroused to a frenzy, [865] throwing my head to the dewy air, like a fawn sporting in the green pleasures of the meadow, when it has escaped a fearful chase beyond the watchers [870] over the well-woven nets, and the hunter hastens his dogs [Catamites] on their course with his call, while she, with great exertion and a storm-swift running, rushes along the plain by the river, rejoicing [875] in the solitude apart from men and in the thickets of the shady-foliaged woods. What is wisdom? Or what greater honor do the gods give to mortals than to hold one's hand [880] in strength over the head of enemies? What is good is always dear.

Men and women must be SILENT to hear the PREACHING being READ as the "pattern" so that:

Ephesians 2:22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
The glorified Jesus received the promise or EVANGELISTIC OFFICE as Holy Spirit and returned at Pentecost and poured out that which you see and hear.
Both men and women are commanded to be IN SILENCE other than PREACHING the Word by READING the Word for comfort and doctrine. That is because no man or woman can usurp the role as Mediator in song or sermon. Sit down and shut up and be silent because Jesus stood up to READ as His PATTERN and then uncommonly-decent SAT DOWN.
No theologian or hermeneut or phrenologist can presume to have paid for the right to be mediator in song and sermon or professorship.
In the first place, the Stone-Campbell Movement Sectarian Division follows the system of "theology" and ignores the TEXT. They repudiate the original agreement made by the Stoneites hoping that the "reformers have come over to us."
1. Alexander Campbell always denied the possibility that there could be unity between the Christian Church and the Reformed Baptists (Church of Christ) before the 1832 false claim of unity.
2. Preachers gathered in 1832 and shook hands on what is denounced as the Alexander Campbell hermeneutics.
3. The Stoneites violated that agreement almost before the sweat was dry from that fabled handshake."But an amalgamation of sects is not such a union as Christ prayed for and God enjoins. To agree to be one upon any system of human inventions would be contrary to his will, and could never be a blessing to the church or the world; therefore, the only union practicable or desirable must be based on the word of God as the only rule of faith and practice...
"I have the more cheerfully resolved on this course, because the gospel is a system of facts, commands, and promises, and no deduction or inference from them, however logical or true, forms any part of the gospel of Jesus Christ. No heaven is promised to those who hold them, and no hell is threatened to those who deny them. They do not constitute, singly or together, an item of the ancient and apostolic gospel. While there is but one faith, there may be ten thousand opinions; and, hence, if Christians are ever to be one, they must be one in faith, and not in opinion. When certain subjects arise, even in conversation or social discussion, about which there is a contrariety of opinion and sensitiveness of feeling, speak of them in the words of the Scripture, and no offense will be given and no pride of doctrine will be encouraged. We may even come, in the end, by thus speaking the same things, to think the same things.
"For several years past I have stood pledged to meet the religious world, or any part of it, on the ancient gospel and order of things as presented in the words of the Book. This is the foundation on which Christians once stood, and on it they can, and ought to, stand again.
From this I cannot depart to meet any man, or set of men, in the wide world. While, for the sake of peace and Christian union, I have long since waived the public maintenance of any speculation I may hold, yet no one gospel fact, commandment, or promise will I surrender for the world" (Life of Elder John Smith, pages 452-454.)
4. After the handshake, Alexander Campbell etal denied that their COULD be any unity because Churches of Christ would never agree to a Stoneite CREED or the denominational organization which would repudiate RESTORATION which the Stoneites called a DEFORMATION.
Apostolic succession meant that new Presbyters must be chosen too replace the dying men to make certain that the Scriptures continued down through time without addition.
The SHELL GAME is trying to pass judgment that what they call ANTI-instrumental Churches of Christ are the victims of ignorant men who did the best they could before "postmodernism." Jesus warned that "doctors of the law take away the key to knowledge: He called the Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites. In the Ezekiel 33 Spirit OF Christ "mark for avoidance" He names self-speakers, singers and instrument players. A hypocrite has no other literal meaning than a pretend religionists where instrument players "made the lambs dumb before the slaughter was called a PARASITE: The Heretic was the priests who lifted up the lamb to cut its throat.
NEVER SAY THAT GOD DOES NOT HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR WHEN HE SENDS STRONG DELUSIONS!
HERMES was the LOGOS THESIS of the Greek and other pagan religions. These were always triads of gods with the "hermeneutic" principle being the authentic interpreter of the gods. A hermeneut has been deluded by God to play the adversary role of HERMES.
As ANTITHESIS God made Jesus to be both Lord and Christ and Grace and Word: Jesus was God's pattern of a SINGULAR Deity encompassing the always-pagan trinities of father, spirit (mother) and infant son. There was no person mediator between the Father (thought) and the Son (Word) but the Father's BREATH (spirit). The tiny abused minority, like Job, are called upon to uphold Jesus Christ as LOGOS and that will defeat the Hermes "logos" but don't forget: Many (most) are called (invited) but FEW (almost none) are Chosen because they can read the warning:
Hebrews 11:5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.The attempt to disqualify Alexander Campbell is founded on the sand that he did not follow the Text--which defines the so-called 'regulative principle' in dozens of ways--but followed the "modern" philosophers and scientists whose object was not to debunk inspiration but the ancient and modern Flat Earth theologians.
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him:
for he that cometh to God must believe that he is,
and that he is a rewarder
of them that diligently seek him.
Using the madness of either "wing" of theology does not--as Hicks hopes--change a jot or tittle of the recorded text which is to be read or spoken "for our learning" with the promised result that the "Day Star" will arisen in our hearts. There is no "postmodern" or "postBiblical" or "postChristian" theologian who can hide from the "human material" or "audience" the fact that the Church of Christ (the Rock) in the Wilderness defines the ONLY purpose for calling people out of their REST as to READ and REHEARSE the Word of God.
To even suggest that people had to use "laws of silence or exclusion" to not be forced to begin to use what they call "instrumental music" to "get along" with the innovators of something new (defines heresy), proves that the ANTIS cannot read BLACK text on BROWN Paper:
2Thessalonians 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish;The universal PATTERN is to SILENCE those who do not love the truth (theologians) as absolutely necessary to let those who love the truth be "taught that which has been taught."
because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
The New Hermeneuts are almost wholly focused on IMPOSING rhetoric and music to SILENCE "the voice of the Victim." That is proven by the fact that over and over and over the use of musical instruments are defined by the "serpent" parable.
1 Maccabees 8:41 - All who heard the noise made by their multitude, by the marching of the multitude and the clanking of their arms, trembled, for the army was very large and strong.Matthew 28:16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee,
"The thin, bronze percussion disks were affixed to metal handles; one from Pompeii is even garnished with pellet bells. Small bronze bells, which made a clanging rather than ringing sound, warded off evil spirits, averted the evil eye, served as sentinels' and watchmen's signal instruments, or were attached to the handle of a Greek warrior's shield in order to terrify the enemy by their clamour.
Small bells were also frequently worn on anklets by jesters, dancers, and courtesans, particularly in Hellenistic times. In Rome, tintinnabulae ("bells") served as signal instruments or were suspended from the necks of herd animals--again to ward off evil.
Britannica: With the exception of clappers, all these instruments were of bronze; as such they were credited with the apotropaic powers [apo- + trepein to turn] (the special protective powers against evil) accorded this metal in the East. For example, both in various Asian islands and in Greece, it was customary to sound the chalkos at eclipses of the Moon because it has power to purify and to drive off pollutions

Spiritual worship or bowing to or giving attendance to the Word of Christ in the Prophets and Apostles is a clear definition of CENI:
Acts 15:21 For Moses of old time
hath in every city them that preach him,
being read in the synagogues every sabbath day
The Lord's Supper is a showing forth or preaching the DEATH of Jesus: any godly person will infer that they did not die for the right to speak and sing their own "scripture" and be silent along with the women so that we might "all come to a knowledge of the truth.

IT TAKES A LOT OF HARD WORK TO DENY THAT THE COMMAND IS TO BUILD (EDUCATE) THE ASSEMBLY BY THE PROPHETS (BY CHRIST) AND THE APOSTLES (THAT WHICH IS WRITTEN FOR OUR LEARNING)
John Mark Hicks: "The Christian Standard took the progressive (broader) view which emphasized principles and expediency while the Gospel Advocate took the conservative (stricter) view which emphasized specified authority and prohibitive silence. The former saw instrumental music as an expediency (in both the Stone-Campbell and Presbyterian traditions) and the latter saw instrumental music as an apostate innovation that corrupted the worship of God (in both the Stone-Campbell and Presbyterian traditions).
That's False: The Scotland State Church was patterned after the Church of England as a STATE church. Queen Elizabeth rejected the effort to remove the organs because as HEAD of the church she need them for STATE rituals. The Scotland church also BEGAN to use instruments and the "civilian" churches OPPOSED. Some of the best papers were written by Presbyterians against the instrument. Many Presbyterians are still Psalmody Only.
In fact, Isaac Errett warned that "instrumental music" was an INNOVATION and would destroy any harmony. If it was an INNOVATION after 1800 years in the existing churches then it VIOLATES a direct command to teach what Jesus COMMANDED to be taught. There is NO hermeneut who can DENY what John Calvin, the Campbells and all historic scholars who insisted on an APOSTOLIC church.
Yes, we "human fodder" gets the point: Jesus did NOT say "thou shalt NOT write their own songs and sermons
That should make modern exegetes blush when they now say that God COMMANDED the use of Instruments which God said made NOISE and not "music." The imposers did not need any authority at the time and promised that the organ (only) would be used to AID the poor SINGING. That said that if the organ was used for WORSHIP rather than for setting the tune it would be SINFUL.Isaac Errett was personally opposed to the introduction and use of instrumental music in worship. Although he himself wrote almost nothing in the Christian Standard about the music controversy before 1870, when he did begin to express his own views, he explained at least four reasons for his antagonism toward the instrument in worship.
He started by admitting that he simply preferred a capella singing because that was what he had been accustomed to since his youth. But he went on to say that he did not believe that the use of instrumental music in worship could be fairly inferred from the scriptures, the only source of authority on matters of faith and practice.
I am not certain how John Mark Hicks has rejected all historic scholarship and the Bible and wants to be hated by God: songs in the temple and sowing discord."In addition, Errett was firmly persuaded that the introduction of instruments and the choirs that often accompanied them tended toward transforming corporate worship services into artistic performances.
By far the most important reason prompting Errett to oppose instrumental music in worship was the fact that it was an offense to a large portion of those in the churches. There were too many "very worthy" members who were conscientiously opposed to instruments in worship. If a majority in a church were to decide for the instrument, the conscientious minority would be completely shut off from that part of the worship. After all, "a majority can not sing on one plane and a minority on another."Volume 36/Number 3 Isaac Errett: Unity and Expediency Douglas Foster Abilene Christian University
Isaac Errett, being an honorable man, proves that the INNOVATORS are the ones who EXCLUDE anyone who will not participate in what he said could NOT even be inferred From Scripture the ONLY authority for faith and practice.
Proverbs 6:12 A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.The Stone-Campbell Movement was conceived and dedicated to debunking any and all of what they call "distinctives" as a product of traditionalism or legalism: that, they contend was a vile virus passed down from godly ancestors with no roots in either Scripture of church history.

but the tares are the children of the wicked one;
Matthew 13:39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.

Great Reformation in religion and morality follows the right of people to Read the Bible for themselves devoid of being filtered through clergy: burden laders of the laded burden.
John Hus, actively promoted Wycliffes ideas: that people should be permitted to read the Bible in their own language, and they should oppose the tyranny of the Roman church that threatened anyone possessing a non-Latin Bible with execution. Hus was burned at the stake in 1415, with Wycliffes manuscript Bibles used as kindling for the fire. The last words of John Hus were that, in 100 years, God will raise up a man whose calls for reform cannot be suppressed. Almost exactly 100 years later, in 1517, Martin Luther nailed his famous 95 Theses of Contention (a list of 95 issues of heretical theology and crimes of the Roman Catholic Church) into the church door at Wittenberg. The prophecy of Hus had come true! Martin Luther went on to be the first person to translate and publish the Bible in the commonly-spoken dialect of the German people; a translation more appealing than previous German Biblical translations. Foxes Book of Martyrs records that in that same year, 1517, seven people were burned at the stake by the Roman Catholic Church for the crime of teaching their children to say the Lords Prayer in English rather than Latin.Men like Alexander and Thomas Campbell were rare candles who rediscovered the Biblical mandate to "Speak where the Bible Speaks and be silent where the Bible is silent." That had nothing to do with the neo-pope's pattern theology about a list of ACTS. The Campbells were Disciples of the Word after escaping theological captivity and understood that inclusive and exclusive pattern for the Qahal, synagogue, ekklesia or Church of Christ (the Rock) in the wilderness.
Today, there are only two known copies left of Tyndales 1525-26 First Edition. Any copies printed prior to 1570 are extremely valuable. Tyndale's flight was an inspiration to freedom-loving Englishmen who drew courage from the 11 years that he was hunted. Books and Bibles flowed into England in bales of cotton and sacks of flour. Ironically, Tyndales biggest customer was the Kings men, who would buy up every copy available to burn them and Tyndale used their money to print even more! In the end, Tyndale was caught: betrayed by an Englishman that he had befriended. Tyndale was incarcerated for 500 days before he was strangled and burned at the stake in 1536. Tyndales last words were, "Oh Lord, open the King of Englands eyes". Timeline

The Christian Baptist VolII no 3
"WHILE many writers and teachers, some of them too of high repute in the christian world, so called, compliment christianity, I mean the New Testament exhibition of it, upon the superexcellency of its moral dictates, who, at the same time are ignorant of, and even averse to, the religion it inculcates; and whilst others profess to embrace it as a system of religion,Updated 5.05.13without imbibing the spirit, realizing the truth, and experiencing the power of its religious institutions; but merely superstruct to themselves, rest in, and are satisfied with, a form (acts) of godliness; and that, very often, a deficient, imperfect form, or such as their own imagination has devised;
"let us, with an open bible before us, distinguish and contemplate that religion which it enjoins and exhibits--
I mean the religion of christianity, for it also exhibits the religion of Judaism;
but with this, in the mean time,
we christians have nothing directly to do--
we derive our religion immediately from the New Testament.
The author and ultimate object of our holy religion, is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, by his Spirit, speaking in Christ and his holy apostles. The principle of this holy religion within us, is faith, a correspondent faith; that is, a belief, or inwrought persuasion by, and according to, the word of truth, in all points corresponding to the revelation which God has made of himself through Jesus Christ by the Spirit. Hence, being rooted and grounded in the truth of this revelation, by faith in the divine testimony, we contemplate and worship God inwardly; that is, adore and reverence him in our souls, according to the characters and attributes under which he has revealed himself to us. Thus we worship the Father, through the Son, by the Spirit, relying upon his teachings in and by the word, to lead as into all the truth which he has testified for our edification and salvation; and also upon his internal influence to excite, instruct, and comfort us, by the truth; to help our infirmities, and to enable us to think and pray as we ought, both as to the matter and manner of our prayers. See Rom. viii. 26, and Jude 22, 21, with a multitude of other scriptures. Thus we have the internal religion, the habitual worship of the real believer, the sincere bible-taught christian with its principle; which is the faith above described. See Rom. x. 12-15.TC
The third is, that these supernaturally endowed apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers, were to continue only for a limited time, marked by an adverb in Greek and English, which always denotes the time how long--mechri, "until we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, even to the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ, that we, the church, be not always composed of nepioi, babes."--
In consequence of such teaching as this, how is the third great and fundamental ordinance of our holy religion, the religious use of the Divine Word, obscured and perverted.
With what uninteresting formality, and coldrife indifference, do many read it; even of those who place some part of their religious worship in daily reading a portion of Holy Scripture, as if the mere reading of it were to save them.
Under what a cloud of errors and prejudices are the generality introduced to this sacred book! Some calling it a sealed book; others, a book hard to be understood, nay, almost unintelligible, except to the learned or inspired; and others again, a dead letter.
The great majority of our modern teachers, like the false prophets of old, countenance and promote these errors and prejudices by their pretendedly learned or whimsical interpretations, spinning out lengthy discourses from a single sentence or clause of a sentence, thus teaching the hearers to believe that nobody can understand it but themselves. In this manner they steal the word from the people, feeding them with their own dreams and notions, instead of causing them to hear, and attend to the word of the Lord.
The CENI in the Marching Orders of Jesus was to GO and make Disciples (don't go to theatrical worship services) by baptizing them and then teaching what JESUS commanded to be taught. Jesus promised to be with them until the end of the World. Therefore, if you are a Disciple or Christian you don't have any impulses to INTERPRET it to mean what Jesus would have said if HE had the advantage of our scholarship.
Peter makes that include the PROPHETS (never part of scholarly theology) by the Spirit OF Christ and the prophecies made more certain by Jesus Christ and left for our memory by their eye-and ear-witness. If you are not about 2,000 years old you have nothing to say but what has been said. There is no 'theology' which can trump universal historic scholarship: if you exegete (re magic) in order to justify an imposed teaching or practice, the Spirit OF Christ has laid down may parallel versions to disqualify that derived dogma.
Paul outlawed "doubtful disputations" about practices in the marketplace (Romans 14) and permitted only that which edifies or educates: in Romans 15 the command is to use one mind and one mouth speaking "that which is written for our learning." [Romans 15]. History informs us of the market place practices in Rome.
Peter outlawed any person's right to PRIVATE INTERPRETATION which means further expounding. Paul excluded Corrupting the Word which means "selling learning at wholesale."
Peter taught that by GIVING HEED (the only worship concept) to the Word the Day Star would arise in our hearts. We don't REinterpret or use it to make DOGMA patterns always knowing that one will be hated by God for sowing discord.
If you rewrite that record using theology then you simply cannot be a Disciple or Christian meaning "to teach what He commanded to be taught." If you speak what Jesus as the Son heard from the Father then that will get you "despised and rejected of men" and probably hurt real bad.
Within Churches of Christ (never part of a Stone movement) hermeneutics as posted wishes to use "imagination" or obscuration to blind those who understand the SPEAK word in the never-musical passages. The Logos forms of teaching "that which has been taught" was always used as the OPPOSITE of rhetoric, poetry, music, personal experiences or drama. In the year 1878 the Stone wing invented the PSALLO word to say that God now COMMANDS the use of instruments in what the Spirit OF Christ and the Campbells called A School of Christ. Paul thought that one could understand the Will of the Lord from the first record of the Serpent as a singing and harp-playing prostitute or a musical Enchanter(ess) onward. The Hermeneutic mantra will always try to justify "taking an AXE to the ANTI-instrumental position."
EXAMPLE THE TEXT
Ephesians 5:17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.POSTMODERNISM: what the Law of Silence and theology gives us the right to MODERNIZE.
Ephesians 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
Ephesians 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing and making melody IN your heart to the Lord;
Psallo means pluck or smite with your fingers and NEVER with a plectrum. It has absolutely no "tuneful" concept. It is always pointing to Apollo (Abaddon, Apollyon) who made his bow-string twang to send forth a "singing" arrow into a literaly heart. Or it points to Apollo who twanged his lyre to send forth a love-arrow into one of his male congregation.Paul said that musical idolatry at Mount Sinai is OUR PATTERN. If you spend lots of time on FOOD and MUSIC then you need theology.
1Corinthians 10:6 Now these things were our examples,
to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
1Corinthians 10:7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written,
The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.

"The triumphal hymn of Moses had unquestionably a religious character about it; but the employment of music in religious services, though idolatrous, is more distinctly marked in the festivities which attended the erection of the golden calf." (Smith's Bible Dictionary, Music, p. 589).
See Exodus 32 as the PATTERN for the musical idolatry of the trinity as without redemption.
Even though there is never any literary evidence that PSALLO had any connection to musical melody and much less complex-harmony, the Hermeneuts following Hermes interprets this to mean:
Ephesians 5:17 Wherefore be ye senseless of the statutes, be frantic, be foolishThe PSALLO word absolutely OUTLAWS any instrument without a string to be struck with your finger and NEVER with a plectrum.
but just listen to the will of the new musical mediators
Ephesians 5:18 You may be fluted down with wine or intoxicated on ignorance.

Someone read that interpretation or explanation is the Greek hermēn-euma and thus was born a massive new industry where men waged to teach the Bible (as it has been taught) decided that, like the Scribes and Pharisees whom Jesus named hypocrites where the Spirit OF Christ had named self-speakers, singers and instrument player, that by inventing their own commandments they could make more money.
Trying to interpret God began with Eve: Paul knew all about Eve..Not surprisingly, most Israelites declined the prophets invitation to enter into a dialog with Yahweh. They preferred a less demanding religion of cultic observance either in the Jerusalem Temple or in the old fertility cults of Canaan. This continues to be the case: the religion of compassion is followed only by a minority; most religious people are content with decorous worship in synagogue, church, temple and mosque. The ancient Canaanite religions were still flourishing in Israel... the Israelites were still taking part in fertility rites and sacred sex there, as we see in the oracles of the prophet Hosea, Amos contemporary. (Armstrong, Karen, A History of God, p. 47)."Specialists of the law known as "scribes" devoted themselves to its study and subtle interpretation, and the pious beheld the highest moral accomplishment in the extremely conscientious observance of every precept.
THE TEXT HAS JESUS SAYING THAT THE KINGDOM DOES NOT COME WITH OBSERVATION: MEANING RELIGIOUS RITUALS.
Observātiō ōnis, observo, a watching, observance, investigation: observationes animadvertebant, your searches for evidence: siderum. Circumspection, care, exactness: summa in bello movendo.Postmodern Hermeneuts suddenly decided that Ekklesia is NOT A School of the Word: Church is "a theater for holy entertainment." Or "the Church has NO other role but TO WORSHIP." That means lying, cheating and stealing church houses and spending huge sums on making them VENUES FOR ROCK AND ROLL.

"INTERPRETATION" TRIES TO DEMONIZE THOSE WHO WILL NOT CONFORM to "instrumental worship" and will not stop defending themselves against people boasting of "infiltrating and diverting."
In fact, Alexander Campbell denied that there COULD be any unity with what became the Disciples-Christians before the hand shake in 1832. Only a few men shook hands in 1832 and the CREED written by John Smith and agreed to repudiated the later Disciples actions. Click for the FOUNDATION of possible "unity" That basic agreement is now repudiated by the New Hermeneuts.
See a review of the Stone-Campbell Movement to see that there was NEVER any kind of unity of these groups any more than Alexander Campbell was "unioned" with the Reformed Baptists. If you read the whole context rather than using "theology" which repeats the errors of the popular writers you will see that Stone and Campbell had absolutely nothing in common. Stone didn't even consider agreement on "doctrine" as necessary for "unity." That is still the mantra but unity means that YOU affirm OUR position with what they call "instrumental worship" at its core. Of course, the Campbells being readers of the now-obsolete TEXT called church A School of Christ and worship as reading and musing the Word: they learned that from the Spirit OF Christ defining the Qahal, synagogue, ekklesia or Church of Christ (the Rock) in the wilderness.
Because Campbell was history-literate he would have known that "wearing the Hat of Hermes" or the Greek Logos was put down by Jesus Christ whom God made to be both Lord and Christ and TRUE LOGOS. Hermes would define the Scribes and Pharisees whom Jesus called Hypocrites: in the Ezekiel 33 PREDESTINED WARNING these would be self-speakers, singers and instrument players.
Jesus never condemned anyone for obeying THE LAW.SCRIBES AND PHARISEES HERMENEUTICS DEFINES A HYPOCRITE
The Pharisee is defined by Jesus along the following lines:
They changed the Laws of God: by teaching THEIR doctrine instead of God's their worship was VAIN.
They changed God's Word so that they COULD IGNORE the Words of God.
"seeking scriptural support for their actions through a ramified system of HERMENEUTICS. It was due to this PROGRESSIVE tendency of the Pharisees that their interpretation of the Torah CONTINUED to develop and has remained a living force in Judaism. Catholic Encyclopedia, Pharisees.They make NEW RULES. One of them was MOUTH RELIGION which is attached to Ezekiel 33 and the singers and instrument players. While the Pharisees never stooped to bringing any form of music into the synagogue, Jesus used the performing musicians to describe them.
They make long prayers [hymns] which was for performance and not for instruction
As Scribes they wrote books and peddled them workshop to workshop.
They liked to SIT UP front in the Holy Place pew.
They loved STANDING in the synagogue while they performed.
They pretended to be Mediators The definition of a Pharisee in that world meant that they claimed some spiritual connection with the Spirit world.
And they did this so that they could EAT UP or steal the houses of widows.
They were EVANGELISTIC but made converts more evil than themselves
They were HYPOCRITES also in that they were trained in DRAMATIC PRESENTATION. Hypocrites are still ACTORS.
The command to the elders as Pastor-Teachers is to "teach that which has been taught." Although the musical content in romans 15 is excluded by the self-pleasure, even if one "sings" (added as an ACT about 373) the command is to "use one mind and one mouth to teach that which has been taught" defined as Scripture. Anyone who uses artistic skills of rhetoric, singing or playing instruments to ENHANCE the Word of Christ in the Prophets and Apostles is THE definition of a hypocrite.

HERMES was the LOGOS THESIS of the Greek and other pagan religions. These were always triads of gods with the "hermeneutic" principle being the authentic interpreter of the gods.
As ANTITHESIS God made Jesus to be both Lord and Christ and Grace and Word: Jesus was God's pattern of a SINGULAR Deity encompassing the always-pagan trinities of father, spirit (mother) and infant son.
Homer Hymn to Hermes
Hermes: Born with the dawning, at mid-day he played on the lyre, and in the evening he stole the cattle of far-shooting Apollo on the fourth day of the month; for on that day queenly Maia bare him.When Zeus had an affair with Mnemosyne, he coupled with her for nine consecutive nights, which produced nine daughters, who became known as the Muses.
They entertained their father and the other gods as a celestial choir on Mount Olympus.
They became deities of intellectual pursuits. Also the three Charites or Graces were born from Zeus and Eurynome. From all his children Zeus gave man all he needed to live life in an ordered and moral way.Hermes, the herald of the Olympian gods, is son of Zeus and the nymph Maia, daughter of Atlas and one of the Pleiades.
Hermes is also the god of shepherds, land travel, merchants, weights and measures, oratory, literature, athletics and thieves,
and known for his cunning and shrewdness.
He was also a minor patron of poetry.
He was worshiped throughout Greece especially in Arcadia.
Festivals in honor of Hermes were called Hermoea.Originally Hermes was a phallic god, being attached to fertility and good fortune, and also a patron of roads and boundaries. His name coming from herma, the plural being hermaiherm was a square or rectangular pillar in either stone or bronze, with the head of Hermes (usually with a beard), which adorned the top of the pillar, and male genitals near to the base of the pillar.
The Stone-Campbell Movement is based on the Disciples THESIS that revelation is from Scripture, Reason, Experience and tradition: By looking to the Church's tradition (its history, its declarations, its collective wisdom. Click for the paper The Christian churches also take ownership of the Law of Silence.
That silence gives a preacher the power to have A spirit tell him that was now God's COMMAND that he impose "instrumental praise" and NOT to do it would be to disobey a message from a god. Being Grace-centered it grants a divine permission to lie, cheat and steal the church house of widows and the collected monies of the working owners. Sowing discord is the meaning of HERESY or sectarian because it grants power to create mental excitement to lift people up and confiscate their property for themselves. This is the SELF-pleasure Paul excluded in Romans 15: it means any of the performing arts and crafts such as rhetoric, singing, playing instruments and using drama to mock.
On the radical other hand, the Campbells consistent with the Church in the wilderness onward saw church as a SCHOOL of the Word of God: Those who accuse the Campbell's with lifting their Bible views from Francis Bacon intends to and says:
John Mark Hicks: But it is important for his heirsalmost 200 years laterto recognize those modern assumptions and recognize their limitations in ways which Campbell was not able to see due to his historic and social location.
MODERN means before POSTMODERN which began as a college prank.
John Mark Hicks: This is where some of the insights of postmodern hermeneutics (as I noted in my five part series Created for Hermeneutics) would help moderate not only some of Campbells optimism but also his naive assumptions aboutto use a common phrasethe text says what it means and means what it says. Campbells overwhelming emphasis on objectivity, empiricism and realism does not give enough attention to the subjective
Paraphrasing Paul: The foolish love to be fooled
The Sokal affair: The article "Transgressing the Boundaries: Towards a Transformative Hermeneutics of Quantum Gravity", published in the Social Text Spring/Summer 1996 "Science Wars" issue, proposed that quantum gravity is a social and linguistic construct. At that time, the journal did not practice academic peer review and did not submit the article for outside expert review by a physicist.[3][4] On its date of publication (May 1996), Sokal revealed in Lingua Franca that the article was a hoax, identifying it as "a pastiche of left-wing cant, fawning references, grandiose quotations, and outright nonsense...structured around the silliest quotations [by postmodernist academics] he could find about mathematics and physics".[2]Effective hit but not true:
Dr. Maarten Boudry, a philosopher in 2012 persuaded two theology conferences to accept abstracts composed of meaningless word salad as a paper.[17]
Empiricism, in philosophy, the view that all concepts originate in experience, that all concepts are about or applicable to things that can be experienced, or that all rationally acceptable beliefs or propositions are justifiable or knowable only through experience. This broad definition accords with the derivation of the term empiricism from the ancient Greek word empeiria, experience.
Theologians and Hermeneuts are the only ones who use EXPERIENCE to try to define knowledge and principles: they practice brain surgery without knowing where to cut. Musical discorders such as Rick Atchley says that "we quit teaching 'a cappella' and took your your youth to retreats to hear the best christian bands (an oxymoron) and TAUGHT OUR YOUTH TO LEAVE OUR MOVEMENT. Spiritual Formation is another effort which is defined as witchcraft.

Rationalism, in Western philosophy, the view that regards reason as the chief source and test of knowledge. Holding that reality itself has an inherently logical structure, the rationalist asserts that a class of truths exists that the intellect can grasp directly. There are, according to the rationalists, certain rational principlesespecially in logic and mathematics, and even in ethics and metaphysicsthat are so fundamental that to deny them is to fall into contradiction. The rationalists confidence in reason and proof tends, therefore, to detract from his respect for other ways of knowing... In religion, rationalism commonly means that all human knowledge comes through the use of natural faculties, without the aid of supernatural revelation.
I think that theologians THINK that Campbell depended on Bacon whereas if you read Campbell's TEXT you will discover that to be false.
In Christianity Restored: One must understand the Meaning of words, literal meaning of words, figurative meaning, Metaphor, Allegory, Metonymy, Synecdoche, Irony, Hyperbole, Catachresis, Figures of Speech, Usage of Words and on and on.Campbell had read Matthew 23 where Jesus said that the Scribes and Pharisees were hypocrites (rhetoricians, singers, players) and He spoke to them in PARABLES from the foundation of the world so that they COULD NOT grasp the truth. These were "Doctors of the Law who took away the key to knowledge."
Hicks as part of the LU staff undoubtedly thinks that running with Jesuits in Ignatian Meditation where you meditate on ONE WORD that has a "gotcha" and suddenly God will GIVE YOU INSIGHT so that you only USE the text to find the KEY to what Christ WOULD have said if He has the understanding of POSTMODERN HERME-NEUTS.
Probably MOST of those claiming to be "Thought Leaders" who get rich and famous wearing the CHRIST Logo, have adopted the always-pagan "trinity" of three persons or people in the godhead. Most if not all deliberate sowing of discord by spreading hate against godly men claim that "A" spirit guides them in a SUBJECTIVE sense. The Thesis of Spiritual Formation and the Jesuit Ignatian Retreats BELIEVE and get paid to lead YOUR children into believing that the MIND ALTERING exercises of Ignatius (the execution squad) can REVEAL something to you "beyond the sacred pages." Why should we trust people who want us to drink their KoolAid?
JESUS SAID TRUTH HAD BEEN HIDDEN FROM HERMENEUTS FROM THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD IN PARABLES:
Jesus didn't speak to the doctors of the Law: Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites defined in Ezekiel 33 as self-speakers, singers and instrument players.
Matthew 13:10 And the disciples came, and said unto him,That's why Campbell notes that they should not try to teach and impose opinions beyond which their minds cannot go.
Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
Matthew 13:11 He answered and said unto them,
Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven,
but to them it is not given.
Matthew 13:12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given,
and he shall have more abundance:
but whosoever hath not,
from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
Matthew 13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables:
because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not,
neither do they understand.
Matthew 13:14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias,
which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand;
and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
Matthew 13:15 For this peoples heart is waxed gross,
and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed;
lest at any time they should see with their eyes,
and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart,
and should be converted, and I should heal them.
Insight, knew Campbell, came as a result of receiving A holy spirit or A good conscience only after obedience in Baptism as the FIRST act of worship.

First, to understand them by a diligent comparing of them, one with another, observing the regularity, strength and consistency of each part; and, second, to receive any benefit from them,The Campbells probably understood that the Great Epics of the Bible are to be READ and by READING the message is planted in the mind. A Church of Christ is built upon (educated) by the Prophets and Apostles both revealed by the Spirit OF Christ. Those who use "theology" have no intention of following that direct command and probably remain ignorant of the prophets where Christ defined the Holy Convocation both inclusively and exclusively..
"But that the Scriptures may have the desired effect, we are to READ them for this end and in this manner.
For this end, that, by the blessing of God and the influence of the Holy Spirit, we may be rendered thereby holy, humble and wise unto salvation; that we may know of the grand concerns of an eternal scene, and be put in the way to escape eternal wrath and to gain eternal happiness. And in this manner are we to read them:
The NEXT act of worship is to Read and Muse the Text.
Thus exhausts the PATTERN.
2Peter 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto youJesus in His CHANGED state returned to the Father and received the Promise of the Holy Spirit. That is Jesus received the COMMISSION or EVANGEL as The Holy Spirit. He returned--as promised--at Pentecost and Poured out what you see and hear. Jesus promised to be with the Apostles when they carried out the CENI to "each and command that we observe what HE commanded to be taught." I am sorry if that is not good enough to justify a MAJOR INDUSTRY of selling Christ over and over but THAT is the mark of being a Christian meaning a STUDENT of Christ: students do not go to ceremonial worship services where Christ is SILENCED in song and sermon.

God made certain that the Prophets and Apostles were recorded: this is the only way to mark and avoid people who may be guided by a lying spirit. Paul promised that those who tampered with the Word (proving that they do not love it) will be sent Strong Delusions. The Lying wonders are specifically religious observations (to which the Kingdom WILL NOT COME) consisting of rhetoric, singing, playing, drama and other ANTICS to make certain that the meaning of music is fulfilled: to make the lambs dumb before the slaughter. Or to "silence the voice of the victim" or to engage in sacred violence.

The Spirit OF Christ speaks ONLY through the Prophets and Apostles: that is the foundational TEACHING of A Church of Christ. Further Expounding is the MARK of a false teacher says Peter.
Jer. 8:7 Yea, the stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle and the crane and the swallow observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the judgment of the LORD.

Jer. 8:10 Therefore will I give their wives unto others, and their fields to them that shall inherit them: for every one from the least even unto the greatest is given to covetousness, from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.
Cyril of Alexandria, Commentary on John,
That the Pharisees puffed up unto strange boasting,
were wont to pretend that the Divine Word was with them and in them,
and therefore foolishly affirmed that they had advanced to marvellous wisdom,
the Spirit Itself will testify,
since Christ says by the Prophet Jeremiah unto them,
How do ye say, WE are wise, and the word of the Lord is with us?
For nought to the scribes became their lying pen;
the wise men were ashamed, were dismayed and taken;
what wisdom is in them? because they rejected the word of the Lord.
For how are they not taken rejecting the Living and Hypostatic Word of God, receiving not the faith to Him-ward,
but dishonouring the Impress of God the Father, and refusing to behold His most true Form (so to say)
through His God-befitting Authority and Power?
By using "theology" to interpret rather than the text (we don't ignore it says Hicks) people actually believe that no one could understand the text before the Heisenberg discovered his uncertainty principle: if you shoot a sub-atomic particle at another sub-atomic particle at the speed of light you CANNOT know its location. And "a parchment held and read by Jesus can no longer be understood because of evolution and contemporary culture." However, if you PAY THEM they can tell you what Jesus would have said if He had lived with their advantages.
If you look at the references, theologians always base their scholarship on other theologians who write books who were taught by other theologians who wrote books. If you do the scholarship of looking at the original source for self-serving quotations you will discover that they are almost always wrong because the resources have an AGENDA usually to reject the idea that there is Superior Being who knew what He was revealing about.
Churches of Christ were founded on the THESIS of Reading and Musing the Word of God. Hermeneutics or "private interpretation" or further expounding of the Christ expounded Prophets and left for our memory by the Apostles is excluded because if there were rabbi capable of finding out anything then Jesus died in vain and the Apostles wrote in vain. You don't have to believe their record but that is the only meaning of a Disciple of Christ or a Christian. If you deny that He was capable of reveling the Spirit (mind) of God then it would mark one as a Scribe or Pharisee whom Jesus called hypocrites where Christ in Ezekiel named self-preachers, singers and instrument players.
Thomas Campbell Worship in Spirit and in TruthThe Stone-Campbell Movement's Hermeneutics knows of NO church which follows that grand restoration and that is why they have nothing better to do than "write themselves in the text as a greater than Moses or a greater than Christ."
Thomas Campbell in blue: "who, at the same time are ignorant of, and even averse to, the religion it inculcates; and whilst others profess to embrace it as a system of religion,
without imbibing the spirit, realizing the truth, and experiencing the power of its religious institutions; but merely superstruct to themselves, rest in, and are satisfied with, a form (acts) of godliness; and that, very often, a deficient, imperfect form, or such as their own imagination has devised;
"let us, with an open bible before us, distinguish and contemplate that religion which it enjoins and exhibits--I mean the religion of christianity, for it also exhibits the religion of Judaism;
...but with this, in the mean time,
. ..we christians have nothing directly to do--
.. .we derive our religion immediately from the New Testament. TC 1824
The Stone-Campbell Hermeneutic is trinitarian: John Mark Hicks has the gods as "three centers of consciousness." However, Jesus as the Logos and the NAME of the One God of the universe. Hermes was the ANTAGONIST of the LOGOS which God made known in Jesus of Nazareth.
Euripides Ion
Hermes became best known as the swift messenger of the gods. Euripides, in his prologue to the play Ion, has Hermes introduce himself as follows:Atlas, who wears on back of bronze the ancient
Abode of the gods in heaven, had a daughter
Whose name was Maia, born of a goddess:
She lay with Zeus, and bore me, Hermes,
Servant of the immortals.Hermes is thus of a double origin. His grandfather is Atlas, the demigod who holds up heaven, but Maia, his mother, already has a goddess as her mother, while Hermes' father, Zeus, is of course the highest of the gods. It is tempting to interpret this as saying that from worldly toil (Atlas), with a heavy infusion of divine inspiration, comes forth consciousness, as symbolized by Hermes.
Atlas, that on his brazen shoulders rolls
Yon heaven, the ancient mansion of the gods,
Was by a goddess sire to Maia; she
To supreme Jove bore me, and call'd me Hermes;Attendant on the king, his high behests
I execute. To Delphi am I come,
This land where Phoebus [Abaddon, Apollyon]
from his central throne
Utters to mortals his high strain, declaring
The present and the future; this is the cause;
MERCURY vanishes. ION and the attendants of the temple enter.
ION chanting
[82] Now flames this radiant chariot of the sun
High o'er the earth, at whose ethereal fire
The stars into the sacred night retreat:2 Kings 23:11 And he took away the horses that the kings of Judah had given to the sun, at the entering in of the house of the Lord, by the chamber of Nathan-melech the chamberlain, which was in the suburbs, and burned the chariots of the sun with fire.
So John Mark Hicks who thinks the Jacob-cursed and God-abandoned LEVITES tasked to worship the starry host including Apollo (Abaddon, Apollyon) is the INSTRUMENTAL PATTERNISTS. Now "beyond the text" Apollo's SUN CHARIOT should be OUR pattern for imposing Apollo and the Muses or LOCUSTS in a congregation near you.
Postmodern Hermeneutics does not inform you that the MARK of the rise of the Babylon Mother of harlots uses "lusted after fruits" (same as in Amos 8) as self-speakers, singers, instrument players and all PERFORMANCE religionists: John calls them SORCERERS who HAD deceived the whole world and would be cast alive into the lake of fire. Post-modernists read BEYOND the sacred page and perhaps God does not let them read black text on brown paper.(3) Chamman ("sun-image"):
chamman, the King James Version "images," "idols"; the Revised Version (British and American) "sun-images" (Leviticus 26:30; 2 Chronicles 14:5; 34:4,7; Isaiah 17:8; 27:9; Ezekiel 6:4,6):
This worship may originally have come from Babylonia, but the reverence of the sun under the name Baal-hamman had long been common in Palestine before Joshua and the Israelites entered the country. These sun-images were probably obelisks or pillars connected with the worship of some local Baal. The chariot and horses of the sun, mentioned (2 Kings 23:11) as having an honored place at the western entrance of the Jerusalem Temple, represented not a local but a foreign cult. In Babylonian temples, sacrifices were made to the sun-chariot, which seems to have had a special significance in time of war (Pinches, HDB, IV, 629; see also CHARIOTS OF THE SUN).
the traditional diction of archaic Greek poetry makes it explicit that the essence of the poet is defined by the Muses and Apollo:
Hesiod Th. 94-95[2]gar toi Mouseōn kai hekēbolou Apollōnos
95andres aoidoi easin epi khthona kai kitharistaiFor it is from the Muses and from far-shooting Apollo
that there are poets on earth, and lyre players too.[1]
Hes. Th. 1 [25] the Muses of Olympus, daughters of Zeus who holds the aegis: Shepherds of the wilderness, wretched things of shame, mere bellies,
we know how to speak many false things as though they were true;
but we know, when we will, to utter true things.
Hes. Th. 63 All the people [85] look towards him while he settles causes with true judgements: and he, speaking surely, would soon make wise end even of a great quarrel; for therefore are there princes wise in heart, because when the people are being misguided in their assembly, they set right the matter again [90] with ease, persuading them with gentle words. And when he passes through a gathering, they greet him as a god with gentle reverence, and he is conspicuous amongst the assembled: such is the holy gift of the Muses to men.
For it is through the Muses and far-shooting Apollo that [95] there are singers and harpers upon the earth; but princes are of Zeus, and happy is he whom the Muses love: sweet flows speech from his mouth. For although a man has sorrow and grief in his newly-troubled soul and lives in dread because his heart is distressed, yet, when a singer, [100] the servant of the Muses, chants the glorious deeds of men of old and the blessed gods who inhabit Olympus, at once he forgets his heaviness and remembers not his sorrows at all; but the gifts of the goddesses soon turn him away from these.
Moreover, Apollo is traditionally the leader of the Muses from the standpoint of ritual poetry, as we see from the following spondaic fragment concerning libations:
spendτmen tais Mnamas paisin Mousais
Let us pour libations to the Muses, children of Menβmβ [Memory]
kai tτi Mousarchτi Latous huiei[3]
and to the Mousarkhos [Leader of the Muses], the son of Leto.
Besides the title Mousarkhos, Apollo also qualifies as Mouseξos (IG 7.1.36: Megara) and Mousagetκs 'Leader of the Muses' (IG 12.5.893: Tenos).[4]
Mousarkhos , Dor. Mōsarkhos , ho, A.leader of the Muses, epith. of Apollo,

It should come as no surprise that the New Hermeneutic which is old as Babylon attempts to make the ONE GOD into a trinity of persons so that they can now have the "Spirit person" to guide them beyond the sacred pages. This also and automatically attempts to restore what they call "instrumental worship." That's good: John defined it in Revelation 17-18.
John Mark Hicks repeating the common Instrumentalists Mantra notes: But it is important for his heirsalmost 200 years laterto recognize those modern assumptions and recognize their limitations in ways which Campbell was not able to see due to his historic and social location.
The Campbells stood in the SOCIAL LOCATION which began in the garden of Eden: you remember that the serpent was not a SNAKE but is defined in THAT naive culture as a Musical Enchanter or maybe male enchanteress. Jesus identified the King of Babylon as a "Lucifer" figure and said that he/she/it would be cast alive onto a bed of magots with his still-breathing harpists and their harps. You will remember that Jesus called the King of Tyre (of Solomon's not-commanded temple fame) as a singing and harp-playing prostitute in the garden of Eden. Jesus in his role as Holy Spirit (mind) warned about the same mother-goddess worship in Revelation. They probably knew that the Spirit OF Christ declared that those who do not speak that which is written have NO LIGHT in them. They knew that no historical scholar defended the LU pattern including a "trinity" or the use of musical instrument when Jesus comes to be our teachers when the ELDERS (only) teach that which has been taught. You are not forced to PREACH the Word by READING the Word for comfort and doctrine; you CANNOT be a Christian or Disciple of Christ if you trust your own imagination which the TEXT has God saying is "only evil continually.
John Mark Hick: This is where some of the insights of postmodern hermeneutics (as I noted in my five part series Created for Hermeneutics) would help moderate not only some of Campbells optimism but also his naive assumptions aboutto use a common phrase
the text says what it means and means what it says.
Campbells overwhelming emphasis on objectivity,
empiricism and realism does not give enough attention to the subjective
Can you think of anything so demeaning and arrogant? Theologians do not give much attention to the context, to other such statements, the prophetic types by Jesus, word definitions as understood in the ancient texts. A large number of statements in the Bible are pointers to the pagan THESIS which must be refuted.
Subjective may refer to:
Subjectivity, a subject's personal perspective, feelings, beliefs, desires or discovery, as opposed to those made from an independent, objective, point of view
Subjective experience, the subjective quality of conscious experience

Jesus died to put down laded burdens and burden laders: Paul put down self-pleasure or the creation of mental excitement which DESTROYS the ability to fulfil the direct command to "use one mind and one mouth to speak that which is written for our learning." A Christian is a Disciple of Christ: A disciple is a STUDENT and has no subjective fuzzy-wuzzies to add. Jesus commanded that we teach and observe what HE commanded to be taught. He said that theologians or Hermeneuts or doctors of the law Take away the Key to Knowledge. He identified the Scribes and Pharisees as hypocrites: in Ezekiel 33 Christ names speakers, singers and instrument players who performed for pay. Corrupting the Word is called "selling learning at wholesale" which word also means adultery.
Cyrus was told how to NEUT male captives:
Grant, then, forgiveness to the Lydians, and to make sure of their never rebelling against thee, or alarming thee more,send and forbid them to keep any weapons of war, command them to wear tunics under their cloaks, and to put buskins upon their legs, and make them bring up their sons to cithern-playing (Kitharizein), singing (psallein), and shop-keeping (Hucksterism).Jesus of Nazareth was God's Personified LOGOS which the TEXT warns us way from the Greek HERMES or MERCURY of the always-pagan triads or families of gods.So wilt thou soon see them become women instead of men,

INTERESTING THAT IGNORANCE THAT JESUS WAS THE LOGOS OF GOD AS THE ANTITHESIS OF HERMES AS THE LOGOS OF THE CLASSICAL HERMENEUTS:
The conclusion is that because Alexander Campbell did not live in this "postmodern" world he was doing the best the poor man could do. First let's ask WHAT IS A HERMENEUT? A Hermeneut assumes the role of the Holy Spirit (who now speaks to them beyond the sacred pages).Soc. That is a tremendous class of names which you are disinterring; still, as I have put on the lion's skin, I must not be faint of heart;
and I suppose that I must consider the meaning of wisdom (phronesis) and understanding (sunesis), and judgment (gnome), and knowledge (episteme), and all those other charming words, as you call them?
Her. Surely, we must not leave off until we find out their meaning.
Soc. By the dog of Egypt I have not a bad notion which came into my head only this moment: I believe that the primeval givers of names were undoubtedly like too many of our modern philosophers,
who, in their search after the nature of things,
are always getting dizzy from constantly going round and round,
and then they imagine that the world is going round and round and moving in all directions;
and this appearance, which arises out of their own internal condition, they suppose to be a reality of nature; they think that there is nothing stable or permanent, but only flux and motion, and that the world is always full of every sort of motion and change. The consideration of the names which I mentioned has led me into making this reflection.
Soc. Well, now, let me take an instance;- suppose that I call a man a horse or a horse a man, you mean to say that a man will be rightly called a horse by me individually, and rightly called a man by the rest of the world; and a horse again would be rightly called a man by me and a horse by the world:- that is your meaning?
Hermes is a Jubal figure: just out of the womb he found a tortoise which he SANCTIFIED by taking him apart and building the first lyre. Hermes found that he could steal Apollo's (Abaddon, Apollyon) cattle (members) by making them walk backward: music after all means "to make the lambs dumb before the slaughter.
Reconciliation seemed impossible until the father of both gods, Zeus, stepped in. To make amends, Hermes gave his half-brother the lyre. At a later date, Hermes and Apollo made another exchange. Apollo gave his half-brother the Caduceus in exchange for a flute Hermes invented.
Hermes Encyclopedia Mythica article on Hermes says his name comes "from herma, the plural being hermai, herm was a square or rectangular pillar in either stone or bronze, with the head of Hermes (usually with a beard), which adorned the top of the pillar, and male genitals near to the base of the pillar."
Definition: A herm is a quadrangular stone sculpture, usually placed outdoors, serving as a boundary marker, signpost, milestone, or memorial. A herm has a bearded man's head, but no or stunted arms, yet the square slab often holds an erect phallus. The herm's vestigial arms or brackets may have served to hold drapery.
The Hermes were phallic symbols saying "the traders are in." Phallus missing below.
"The offspring of Hermes are believed to be Pan, Abderus and Hermaphroditus. Hermes as with the other gods had numerous affairs with goddesses, nymphs and mortals. In some legends even sheep and goats. Pan, the half man half goat, is believed to be the son of Hermes and DryopeHdt. 2.51 These customs, then, and others besides, which I shall indicate, were taken by the Greeks from the Egyptians. It was not so with the ithyphallic images of Hermes; the production of these came from the Pelasgians, from whom the Athenians were the first Greeks to take it, and then handed it on to others. [2] For the Athenians were then already counted as Greeks when the Pelasgians came to live in the land with them and thereby began to be considered as Greeks. Whoever has been initiated into the rites of the Cabeiri, which the Samothracians learned from the Pelasgians and now practice, understands what my meaning is. [3] Samothrace was formerly inhabited by those Pelasgians who came to live among the Athenians, and it is from them that the Samothracians take their rites. [4] The Athenians, then, were the first Greeks to make ithyphallic images of Hermes, and they did this because the Pelasgians taught them. The Pelasgians told a certain sacred tale about this, which is set forth in the Samothracian mysteries.
Cappella is the goat: Sistine "chapel" was named after a general's goat-skin chapel. Cappella is one of the constellations as in "the worship of the starry host" to which God abandoned Israel after musical idolatry at Mount sinai.
Jesus called the MEN of Israel CHILDREN because they Piped hoping to get Jesus to lament the ouchy initiation: they would also DANCE.

mustēri-on , to, (mustēs, mueō)John Mark Hicks: I begin this series on Stone-Campbell hermeneutics with Alexander Campbell (1788-1866). While I recognize that Barton W. Stone (1772-1844) and Thomas Campbell (1763-1855) also had a significant impact on how the Stone-Campbell Movement read the Bible, there seems little question that Alexander Campbell was the more dominant figure for Stone-Campbell hermeneutics. Consequently, I will stress Alexander Campbells perspective for the first half of the 19th century.
The Church of Christ is built upon (educated) on the Prophets and Apostles. That is because the Spirit OF CHRIST breathed (not a person) into the Prophets. Jesus of Nazareth made these prophecies more certain. Peter marks as a false teacher anyone who does not teach that "memory" he and others left in their "parts." Peter used private interpretation or "further expounding" as the mark of those who despise the fact that Jesus finished all of the "expounding." That was Campbell's understanding from the TEXT: without a written record then John Mark Hicks can use "theology" to expand on the text and claim that he and they are the first people to be able to interpret."A type of traditional hermeneutic is biblical hermeneutics which concerns the study of the interpretation of the Bible. In religious studies and social philosophy, hermeneutics is the study of the theory and practice of interpretation. Modern hermeneutics encompasses everything in the interpretative process including verbal and nonverbal forms of communication as well as prior aspects that affect communication, such as presuppositions, preunderstandings, the meaning and philosophy of language, and semiotics. wikepedia posted by some doctor of the Law

Luke 1:78 Through the tender mercy of our God;
whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us,
Luke 1:79 To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death,

Contrary to the Hermeneuts, Peter who outlawed private interpretation or further expounding wrote:
2Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
Strab. 13.1.69 The poet thus sets before us a puzzle instead of making a clear statement; for we neither know whom we should understand the poet to mean by the "Ceteians" nor what he means by "on account of the gifts of a woman";Again Jesus called the Scribes (grammarians) and Pharisees, hypocrites by naming self-speakers, singers and instrument players (Ezekiel 33)
but the grammarians too throw in petty myths,
more to show their inventiveness than to solve questions.
Specialists of the law known as "scribes" devoted themselves to its study and subtle interpretation, and the pious beheld the highest moral accomplishment in the extremely conscientious observance of every precept.

It is not, then, without reason that the poets call him a cruel wretch and a nefarious scoundrel. It were tedious to recount his adulteries of all sorts,
Hercules, the son of Zeus-a true son of Zeus-was the offspring of that long night, who with hard toil accomplished the twelve labours in a long time, but in one night deflowered the fifty daughters of Thestius, and thus was at once the debaucher and the bridegroom of so many virgins.

Euripides Iphigenia
From the beginning my fate was unhappy, from that first night of my mather's marriage; [205] from the beginning the Fates attendant on my birth directed a hard upbringing for me, wooed by Hellenes, the first-born child in the home, [210] whom the unhappy daughter of Leda, by my father's fault, bore as a victim and a sacrifice not joyful, she brought me up as an offering. In the horse-drawn chariot, [215] they set me as a bride on the sands of Aulis, oh woe, a wretched bride for the son of the Nereid, alas! But now, as a stranger I live in an unfertile home on this sea that is hostile to strangers, [220] without marriage, or children, or city, or friends, not raising hymns to Hera at Argos, nor embroidering with my shuttle, in the singing loom, the likeness of Athenian Pallas and the Titans; but Greek Religion: Popular religion flourished alongside the civic cults. Peasants worshiped the omnipresent deities of the countryside, such as the Arcadian goat-god Pan, who prospered the flocks, and the nymphs (who, like Eileithyia, aided women in childbirth) inhabiting caves, springs (Naiads), trees (Dryads and Hamadryads), and the sea (Nereids). They also believed in nature spirits such as Satyrs and Sileni and equine Centaurs. Among the more popular festivals were the rural Dionysia, which included a phallus pole;
the Anthesteria, when new wine was broached and offerings were made to the dead; the Thalysia, a harvest celebration; the
Thargelia, when a scapegoat (pharmakos) assumed the communal guilt; and the Pyanepsia, a bean feast in which boys collected offerings to hang on the eiresione ("wool pole"). Women celebrated the Thesmophoria in honour of Demeter and commemorated the passing of Adonis with laments and miniature gardens, while images were swung from trees at the Aiora to get rid of an ancient hanging curse. Magic was widespread. Spells were inscribed on lead tablets. Statues of Hecate, goddess of witchcraft, stood outside dwellings, while Pan's image was beaten with herbs in time of meat shortage.

But after the Crisaean war, in the time of Eurylochus,1 the Amphictyons instituted equestrian and gymnastic contests in which the prize was a crown, and called them Pythian Games. And to the citharoedes2 they added both fluteplayers and citharists who played without singing, who were to render a certain melody which is called the Pythian Nome. [the meaning of legalism] There are five parts of it: angkrousis, ampeira, katakeleusmos, iambi and dactyli, and syringes. Now the melody was composed by Timosthenes, the admiral of the second Ptolemy, who also compiled The Harbours, a work in ten books;3 and through this melody he means to celebrate the contest between Apollo and the dragon, setting forth the prelude as anakrousis, the first onset of the contest as ampeira, the contest itself as katakeleusmos, the triumph following the victory as iambus and dactylus, the rhythms being in two measures, one of which, the dactyl, is appropriate to hymns of praise, whereas the other, the iamb, is suited to reproaches (compare the word "iambize"), and the expiration of the dragon as syringes, since with syringes4 players imitated the dragon as breathing its last in hissings.5
1 On the time, compare 9. 3. 4 and footnote.
2 The citharoedes sang to the accompaniment of the cithara, and their contests must have had no connection with those of the fluteplayers and the citharists, whose performance (of the Pythian Nome) was a purely instrumental affair.
3 If the text of this sentence is correct, Strabo must be referring to the melody played as the Pythian Nome in his own time or in that of some authority whom he is quoting, earlier compositions perhaps having been superseded by that of Timosthenes (fl. about 270 B.C.). But since the invention of the Pythian Nome has been ascribed to Sacadas (Pollux 4.77), who was victorious with the flute at the Pythian Games about three hundred years before the time of Timosthenes (Paus. 6.14.9, 10.7.4), Guhrauer (Jahrb. fόr Class. Philol., Suppl. 8, 1875-1876, pp. 311351 makes a strong argument for a lacuna in the Greek text, and for making Strabo say that the melody was composed by Sacadas and later merely described by Timosthenes in one of his numerous works. 1 The daemons or divine spirits had their existence and activity betwixt mortal and immortal,and they served as interpreters and conveyors of men's prayers and offerings to the gods, and of the god's behests and requitals to men(Plato, Sympos. 202 D). Good mortals might become daemons after death(Eurip.Alc. 1003; Plato, Cratyl. 398 B; Lucian, De morte Peregr. 36), and such as they were charged with the guidance and care of mankind(Plato, Laws 713 D; Plutarch, De genio Socr. 588 C).

First, The Spirit OF Christ speaks only through the Prophets who repudiate the Civil-Military-Clergy complex as robbers and parasites. They had been abandoned to worship the starry host because of musical idolatry at Mount sinai.
Second, Jesus was made to be both Lord and Christ to make these prophecies more certain. Jesus PROVED His right to be the sole Teacher by signs and wonders. The Apostles were eye- and ear-witnesses after the resurrection. They left a memory of that ONE TIME ACT IN HISTORY. Peter defines a false teacher as anyone who does not teach that which has been taught.
2Peter 1:14 Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle,Most of the Hermeneuts living off Churches of Christ but repudiating its Biblical base THINK that the Old Testament should be part of our faith and practice. John Mark Hicks thinks that the Lord's Supper is a sacrificial meal where God eats with us while we burn the fat with jubilation. Most if not all foundation for theologians is based on the pattern of the Jacob-cursed and God-abandoned Levites. They were commanded to stand in ranks and soothsay with instruments and execute any "hermeneut" who came near any 'holy' thing or place.

The purpose of the Campbells was not to invent a series of pieces to a pattern: it was to remove anything and everything which stood in the way of uniting all people and thereby disposing of the theological mediators.
4. Grammatical-Historical Method. Campbell adopted the most modern method of interpreting the Bible and rejected the older scholastic and mystical hermeneutical methods. Campbell accepted the evolving grammatical-historical method of contemporary scholars.
I'M NOT SURE THAT CAMPBELL KNEW THE WORD 'HERMENEUTICS'. Because he was a reader he would repudiate the LIBERTY of using one's SUBJECTIVE feelings.
Subjective may refer to:
The Spirit OF Christ defined the Qahal, syngagoue, ekklesia or Church of Christ (the Rock) in the wilderness assuming that people could read and listen to words and understand:
- Subjectivity, a subject's personal perspective, feelings, beliefs, desires or discovery, as opposed to those made from an independent, objective, point of view
- Subjective experience, the subjective quality of conscious experience
Nehemiah 8:8 So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly,
and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.
Nehemiah 8:9 And Nehemiah, which is the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said unto all the people, This day is holy unto the LORD your God; mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law.
Plato knew about that: you have to use grammar and you have to define words.
The Instrumental Hermeneuts have a history of "infiltrating and diverting" none-instrumental churches of Christ. Using one's SUBJECTIVE urge for entertainment and OBJECTIVE need for more contributors to institutions is the MARK of Hermes:Soc. And now, by the Gods, let us have no more of the Gods, for I am afraid of them; ask about anything but them, and thou shalt see how the steeds of Euthyphro can prance.
Her. Only one more God! I should like to know about Hermes, of whom I am said not to be a true son. Let us make him out, and then I shall know whether there is any meaning in what Cratylus says.
Soc. I should imagine that the name Hermes has to do with speech, and signifies that he is the interpreter (ermeneus), or messenger, or thief, or liar, or bargainer; all that sort of thing has a great deal to do with language; as I was telling you the word eirein is expressive of the use of speech, and there is an often-recurring Homeric word emesato, which means "he contrived"-
out of these two words, eirein and mesasthai, the legislator formed the name of the God who invented language and speech; and we may imagine him dictating to us the use of this name: "O my friends," says he to us, "seeing that he is the contriver of tales or speeches,
you may rightly call him Eirhemes." And this has been improved by us, as we think, into Hermes. Iris also appears to have been called from the verb "to tell" (eirein), because she was a messenger.
Her. Then I am very sure that Cratylus was quite right in saying that I was no true son of Hermes (Ermogenes), for I am not a good hand at speeches. Cratylus
Plat. Laws 12.941b if convicted. Theft of property is uncivilized, open robbery is shameless: neither of these has any of the sons of Zeus practiced, through delight in fraud or force. Let no man, therefore, be deluded concerning this or persuaded either by poets or by any perverse myth-mongers into the belief that, when he thieves or forcibly robs, he is doing nothing shameful, but just what the gods themselves do.1 That is both unlikely and untrue; and whoever acts thus unlawfully is neither a god at all nor a child of gods;
1 Cp.Plat. Rep 378 ff., Plat. Rep. 388 ff. Hermes is specially in mind, as notorious for his thefts and frauds; cp. Homer Iliad 5. 390; 24. 395, etc.John Mark Hicks: Theology is embedded in the text as well as facts.
The text offers theologically intepreted facts;
it does not offer us bare or neutral facts.
We will REPEAT below that there are two sources of edification or EDUCATION for the assembly of A Church of Christ:
First, The Spirit OF (preposition) Christ defined the Qahal, synagogue, ekklesia or Church of Christ (the Rock) in the wilderness.
It was INCLUSIVE of Rest, Reading and Rehearsing the Word delived to groups as small as ten families
It was EXCLUSIVE of "vocal or instrumental rejoicing" which excluded rhetoricians.
The Campbells tried to restore
Church as A school of Christ
Worship as Reading and Musing the Word
The Spirit OF Christ defined His future rule both inclusively and exclusively in the Prophets.
God made Jesus of Nazareth to be both Lord and Christ to make these prophecies more certain.
A Church of Christ is built upon or educated by these Prophets and Apostles
Jesus did the INTERPRETING because He denied that any theologian knew anything the Son had not delivered.
Peter OUTLAWED private interpretation meaning further expounding.
To presume that theologians can do that INTERPRETATION denies that Jesus Christ died for that authority.
As a MOST DANGEROUS Direct Command for Theologians or Hermeneutic or Exegetice or Magica Paul defined CORRUPTING THE WORD as SELLING LEARNING AT WHOLESALE which word also defined the professional adulterers.
The PATTERN of the Scribes and Pharisees called hypocrites defined as speakers, singers and instrument players was the MARK of those who knew there was no fame and fortune in being a Teacher of that which had been taught, they used a RAMIFIED system of hermeneutics to make the fools pay for their folly.
John Mark Hicks: Interpreted facts yield theological reflection on the meaning and significance for contemporary life.
Another word which Marks for Avoidance anyone who thinks they can GIVE MEANING to the Word of God by interpreting it to accomodate to contemporay life is:
Heurēsi^-logeō , A.invent ingenious arguments, explanations, or pretexts, Plb.26.1.2, al., Phld.Rh.1.207 S., Str.13.1.69, Ph.1.314, al., Plu.2.31e, Porph.Antr.36; tauta Plu.2.625c.However, Peter in 2 Peter 2 said that is the MARK of a false teacher leading to the Mark of Musical Corruption:
All rhetoricians, poets, singers, instrument players or actors were DEFACTO defined as liars. The write "what would have been if I had been Jesus."
Strab. 13.1.69 The poet thus sets before us a puzzle instead of making a clear statement; for we neither know whom we should understand the poet to mean by the "Ceteians"
nor what he means by "on account of the gifts of a woman";
but the grammarians too throw in petty myths,
more to show their inventiveness than to solve questions.

God made Jesus His LOGOS: Logos means FACTS. Rational Facts. Paul THOUGHT that his audience could read FACTS and understand them. WE cannot enter into the STORY. Christ is the only STORY TELLER and we are DISCIPLES. A Disciple can only listen to the FACTS the teacher delivers and then obey them. The STORY happened centuries: you cannot be a BLACKABY "a better than Moses" or do more MIRACLES than Jesus. If the FACTS say "do not rob widow's houses in exchange for making long prayers meaning hymns" then Billy Bob the babbler understand "That means that I must not STEAL the widow's mite by using theology to teach the Law of Giving." Everyone always knew that it is ONLY when you do not intend to OBEY the FACTS that you need to do a legalistic end run around them.
If you just READ the FACTS of Exodus 32 or Acts 7 you have to be a Scribe or Pharisee to say that God NOW commands instrumental idolatry of the always-pagan trinity. If Paul commands that we SPEAK in the LOGOS sense then you have all recorded PreTheology history telling you that you cannot SPEAK that which is written for our learning and say, but WE can SING that which is written by Singy-Clappy worship leader and PLAY INSTRUMENTS at the same time.
Narrative Theology is Feminist Theology which is the limp-wristed presumption that you can REWRITE ore REIMAGINE the Church so that you can be a greater-than Moses or a Greater-than Jesus. However, we are not in the story. The events which happened in history are left for our MEMORY. The Holy Spirit (Jesus Christ the Righteous) speaks to us when we read the words which ARE Spirit and life (John 6:63)
The Spirit OF CHRIST defined His future REST (from theologians) both inclusively and exclusively in the Prophets which are not part of the curriculum to get a P.hd. The Testimony or The Book of The Covenant was Abrahamic and the order to teach it in Exodus 18 came before the fall from grace because of musical idolatry at Mount Sinai. God did not command the Civil-Military-Clergy complex used as the PATTERN of hermeneuts but abandoned them to captivity and death. The Godly people attended synagogue or Church to Rest, Read and Rehearse the Word of God. No one is waged to pass judgment and still be a Christian.
See 2 Maccabees to understand the worship of Hermes as the Abomination of Desolation in Jerusalem.Isaiah 8:17 And I will wait upon the LORD, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob,
and I will look for him.
Isaiah 8:18 Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.
Isaiah 8:19 And when they shall say unto you,
Seek unto them that have familiar spirits,
and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter:
should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?
Isaiah 8:20 To the law and to the testimony:
if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
