Rick Atchley Pepperdine 2013 Revelation The Seven Churches

Rich Atchly who boasts about imposing instrumental worship on the youth to teach them to leave our movement. That means that he is willing to "infiltrate and divert" other people's property and divert it to those who lust for music when Jesus promises to be with the disenfranchised to rest and learn of Him.

Rick Atchley said that the Holy Spirit told him to preach that sermon saying that "God commanded instrumental praise and we must not be disobedient." Rick also writes about the lack of morality by writing a book about Mount Sinai: he does not know that it was musical idolatry which so devalued the values of the Jacob-cursed and God-abandoned Levites to worship the starry host. Don't blame me if you can get degreed at ACU and miss Acts 7.
One writer notes: Has God "given unto us all things that pertain to life and godliness?" If he has not, Peter was not telling the truth. If he has, what need is there for further revelation? And yet, if one watches Trinity Broadcasting Network, the Inspiration Channel and similar operations, he cannot avoid noticing how many of the speakers on those programs claim to have a direct revelation from God. They use words somewhat as follows: "The Lord spoke to me" or "The Lord appeared to me in a dream." I wish I could say that only Charismatics or Pentecostals were guilty of deceiving their listeners by pretending to have a direct word from God, but that would not be the case.
        Rich Atchley, the preacher of the Richland Hills Church of Christ in Dallas, Texas, made this completely unscriptural claim:
        "Right there at that spot about 1994 the Holy Spirit said to me in the middle of a sermon,

'that's what you and all preachers like you are doing,
        who haven't for years believed that the worship of God with instruments was wrong.
        But you continue by your silence to let people think it's wrong.
        But you allow the people to be disrupted, and you do so under the plea,
        'Well, we're just maintaining peace.' But that's not peace; that's cowardice.
        I knew then the day would come I'd have to teach this lesson."
Tragically and inexplicably, Rick Atchley is guilty of imitating some of the false prophets in Old Testament times. He was speaking where God has not spoken. He is like the Balaam, the Gentile prophet:

        He was waiting for what more the Lord has to say. He was attempting to convince churches of Christ to fall in with the fleeting fashions of the world (Rom. 12:2). I pray to God almighty that we shall not be deceived by Rick Atchley's imagination.
That COMMENDED Rick to ACU, Pepperdine, Tulsa Workshop, the NACC who used him and maybe a church near you.  It's true: if you claim that you are inspired you can get most of the people most of the time to drink your Koolaid.

Rick Atchley Hearing From God causing people to fail in reverence and godly fear making it a burning offense says Paul in Hebrews 17.
Cabal is a group of people united in some close design together, usually to promote their private views or interests in a church, state, or other community, often by intrigue. Cabals are sometimes secret societies composed of a few designing persons, and at other times are manifestations of emergent behavior in society or governance on the part of a community of persons who have well established public affiliation or kinship. The term can also be used to refer to the designs of such persons or to the practical consequences of their emergent behavior, and also holds a general meaning of intrigue and conspiracy.
Pepperdine/NACC Christian Worship Depicted in Revelation?
The sounds above Zion (the church) in prophetic types by Christ and in final warning in Revelation are signs to MARK AND AVOID those who have had their candlestick removed and ABANDONED to the worship of the COSMIC or Creature which is well recorded as instrumental idolatry at Mount Sinai. The next event will be Cast Alive into the Lake of Fire for taking the mark (mind control) of the Beasts (a new style of music and drama claiming to lead you into the presence of God.)

That is the meaning of a sectarian or a heretic: arousing mental excitement to CHOOSE other people's property for themselves and friends.

The letters to the churches are the final DEFINITION of those faithful and those unfaithful.  In order to understand the FINAL letter to all of us, you have to understand the Prophecy of the future REST in His church by the Spirit OF Christ.  He defines the church both inclusively and exclusively.  Then, you have to understand what Jesus actually commanded and exampled as the Son of God given full authority to teach: the Apostles left a "memory" of that personal teaching of Jesus. The final letters are from Jesus the Christ who is now in Holy Spirit form.

A Disciple does not, can not, simply use the Word of God as FODDER out of which he builds slick sermons: Jesua marked that as the universal meaning of a hypocrite.  Ye, even sorcery.

Revelation first speaks of the Spiritual Kingdom or New Jerusalem in heaven. Jesus said DON'T GO OUT to the lectureships where people get paid to tell you they have the kingdom.  God translates saved spirits into a heavenly kingdom and the earthly counterpart is a SAFE HOUSE to protect the godly FROM the laded burdens and burden laders. Jesus said that the kingdom does not come with observation: that means Religious Observations the end-time church is falling into.

  1. Isaiah 50 defining the Future Musical Mocking of those without spirit or life. That's why He will be OUTSIDE the camp or the massed lectureships suffering the reproaches still being heaped on Him
  2. Isaiah 55 commanding us NOT to spend our bread money on the Free Water of the Word which WILL NOT tolerate any help. He denies the trinity defined in 1 John as the mark of ANTI-Christ.  The Word of Christ is the Spirit (mind) of God.
  3. Isaiah 57 defines the Law of Silence: both Male and Female come before God in silence if they are a believer.
  4. Isaiah 58 outlawing seeking our own pleasure or speaking our own Words.
  5. 2 Peter 2 Instrumental Corruption Jesus made that prophecy more certain by standing up to read the Word and decently and in order sitting down
  6. Paul in Romans 14 outlawed doubtful disputations or personal opinions
  7. In Romans 15 the only resource is "using one mind and one mouth to speak that which is written for our learning." If you can't comprehend that Christ gifted the elders as pastor-teachers: Paul commanded that men already laboring in preaching and teaching be recognised. They are commanded to "teach that which HAS BEEN taught."
  8. Anyone who gets paid to tell you what he needs to say to collect the masses practices "sorcery" especially if he cannot bring his body in subjection as he follows in the steps of Jesus to stand up to READ the text and then sits down for discussion.
THAT MEANS THAT YOU CANNOT EXPLAIN THE FOLLY OF THE SEVEN CHURCHES IF YOU ARE IGNORANT OF THE PROPHECY AND FALL INTO THE PROPHESIED APOSTASY.

THE PROPHECY BY THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST
Zechariah4:1 AND the angel that talked with me came again,
and waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep.

Zechariah 4:2 And said unto me, What seest thou?
        And I said, I have looked,
        and behold a candlestick all of gold,
        with a bowl upon the top of it,
     and his seven lamps thereon,
              [Seven Spirits of Divine Truth Isaiah 11 the oil of gladness]
        and seven pipes to the seven lamps, [resource for the oil]
        which are upon the top thereof:

The church is built upon (educated) the prophets and apostles: Jesus supples the oil.

Zechariah 4:3 And two olive trees by it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and the other upon the left side thereof.
Zechariah 4:4 So I answered and spake to the angel that talked with me, saying, What are these, my lord?

We are told what the image means.

Zechariah 4:5 Then the angel that talked with me
        answered and said unto me,
        Knowest thou not what these be?
        And I said, No, my lord.
Zechariah 4:6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying,
        This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel,
        saying, Not by might, nor by power,
        but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.

John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing:
        the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

God's Spirit is God's BREATH: the Word flows from the Father to the Son Who ARTICULATES it so we can hear.

Rick Atchley will get a "spiritual" message which will force him to DENY the Word "as it has been taught."

God speaks to us through the Word of the Lord: The Spirit OF Christ was the testimony in Words of Christ (1 Pet 1:11; 2 Cor 3; Rev 19:10)

Revelation 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him,
         to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass;
         and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
Revelation 1:2 Who bare record of the WORD of God,
        and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.

Revelation 19:9 And he saith unto me, Write,
        Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb.
        And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
Revelation 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him.
        And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren
        that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: f
        or the testimony of Jesus is the SPIRIT of prophecy.

h4744.gifThe Command for the Qahal, Synagogue or Church of Christ (the Rock) in the wilderness
        Was INCLUSIVE of Rest, Reading and Rehearsing the Word of God
    Was EXCLUSIVE of vocal or instrumental rejoicing or silly talk by rhetoricians Jesus called hypocrites.

The Example of Jesus:
Luke 4:14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.
Luke 4:15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.
Luke 4:16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day,
        and stood up for to read.

Luke 4:17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
         because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor;
        he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted,
        to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind,
        to set at liberty them that are bruised,
Luke 4:19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Luke 4:20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down.
        And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

THE COMMAND WAS TO READ THE BOOK OF REVELATION: NOT TO SERMONIZE IT OR MAKE MUSIC WITH IT.

Revelation 1:3 Blessed is he that READING, [the elder]
        and they [assembly] that
                hear the WORDS of this prophecy,
                and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

John begins to reveal that which was to be READ to those who were to HEAR and obey. There are no other ACTORS in the School of Christ.

Revelation 1:4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace,
        from him which is, and which was, and which is to come;
        and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;

The Seven Spirits represented by the Menorah in the Holy Place are spirits OF Divine knowledge.  When Jesus as the Branch came He smote and smites with the INSTRUMENT of His lips and mouth to slay the wicked who try to SPEAK with "machines for doing hard work." In Revelation the lamps are congregations whose object is to make known the Word contained in the Spirit.

Isaiah 11:1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse,
        and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
Isaiah 11:2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him,
        the spirit OF wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might,
        the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
Isaiah 11:3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD:
        and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes,
        neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
Isaiah 11:4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor,
        and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth:
        and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his MOUTH, [not smite a harp]
        and with the breath [h7307 spirit: never a people] of his LIPS shall he slay the wicked.

Cupid indeed is obstinate and wild,
A stubborn god3; but yet the god's a child:
Easy to govern in his tender age,
Like fierce Achilles in his pupilage
That hero, born for conquest

As Chiron mollified his cruel mind
With art; and taught his warlike hands to wind
The silver strings of his melodious lyre;

Chīron  one of the Centaurs  distinguished for his knowledge of plants, medicine, and divination, son of Saturn and Philyra (hence, Philyrides Chiron, Verg. G. 3, 550),

The Community Rule (1QS) reads in part much like Ephesians 5 and Colossians 3:

DSS: And at the beginning of their weeks
for the season of Jubilee.
All my life the engraved Precept shall be on my tongue
as the fruit of praise
and the portion of my lips.

I will sing with knowledge and all my music
shall be for the glory of God.
(My) lyre (and) my harp shall sound
for His holy order
and I will tune the pipe of my lips
to His right measure.

Because Christ suffered without the camp, we have to go there to find Him. Therefore, Paul demanded:

By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to his name. Heb.13:15

I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the Lord; and I will heal him. Isa 57:19

The Menorah representing the seven spirits of God was in the holy place looking into the Throne Room.
Any Levite or wannabe instrumental praiser was to be EXECUTED in the prophetic type.

Revelation 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness,
        and the first begotten of the dead,
        and the prince of the kings of the earth.
        Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
Revelation 1:6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father;
        to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Because we are priests of God we can come boldly before the throne of God: the ONLY mediator in song or sermon is Jesus Christ now called The Holy Spirit. Rick Atchley believes that the Holy Spirit guides him but the NAME of the Holy Spirit is Jesus Christ the righteous. He returned to the Father and received the promise or ASSIGNMENT as The Holy Spirit:
1Timothy 2:5 For there is one God,
        and one mediator between God and men,
         the man Christ Jesus;

Therefore, Rick Atchley and others cut themself off from the Spirit which is the Word of Jesus Christ "made to be both Lord and Christ.""

Paul said that we worship IN THE SPIRIT and not IN THE FLESH to give no opportunity for the DOGS and CONCISION to impose themselves. Therefore, John was was not singing, clapping, playing or making a buffoon of himself to get people to laugh and accept false teaching.  The Only worship concept is to give heed or give attendance to the Reading of the Word and discussing it.

Revelation 1:10 I was IN the Spirit on the Lord’s day,
        and heard behind me a great voice, AS OF a trumpet,
Revelation 1:11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and,
        What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia;
        unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

Christ the Holy Spirit speaks through the seven spirits represented by the Menorah.  Jesus, as promised, was with John because he was OUTSIDE of the gates or massed multitudes and he was suffering reproaches.  He had accepted THE GOSPEL which was "come to me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you REST.  And of the twos and threes He invites "Come learn of ME."

Revelation 1:12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me.
        And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;
Revelation 1:13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man,
        clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
Revelation 1:16 And he had in his right hand seven stars:
        and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword:
        and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.

Ephesians 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith,

Hebrews 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest,
        he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
Hebrews 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest,
        lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

THE WORK MUST BE THE WORD OF GOD
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful,
        and sharper than any twoedged sword,
         piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit,
        and of the joints and marrow,
        and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Revelation 1:17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead.
        And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me,

Revelation 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore,
        Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

Look at the Spirit OF Christ prophesying this event:

Zechariah 4:2 And said unto me, What seest thou?
        And I said, I have looked,
        and behold a candlestick all of gold,
        with a bowl upon the top of it,

There is no statute of limitations on the Gospel of the KINGDOM of Christ.

Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying,
        All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations,
        baptizing them in the name [singular] of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:

Revelation 1:19 Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;
Revelation 1:20 The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks.

        and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.

The churches do not WRESTLE with musical instruments but the sword of the spirit.  The purpose of the churches:

Ephesians 3:9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery,
        which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God,
        who created all things by Jesus Christ:
Ephesians 3:10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places

Ephesians 3:11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:

THE MESSAGE TO THE SEVEN CHURCHES REPRESENTING ALL OF THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY

Jesus makes the prophecies more certain so that the Church is built upon (educated) the Prophets and Apostles.

ADDRESS TO THE CHURCH AT EPHESUS FROM JESUS CHRIST

Revelation 2:1 Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write;
        These things SAITH he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand,
        who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;
                [the Holy Place was a type of the Body of Christ]

Revelation 2:2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience,
        and how thou canst not bear them which are evil:
        and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles,
        and are not, and hast found them liars:
Revelation 2:3 And hast borne, and hast patience,
        and for my name’s sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.
Revelation 2:4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
Revelation 2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent,
        and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly,
        and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
Revelation 2:6 But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.

ADDRESS TO THE CHURCH AT SMYRNA FROM JESUS CHRIST

Revelation 2:8 And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;

Revelation 2:9 I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich)
        and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews,
        and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.
Revelation 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer:
        behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried;
        and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

Jewish connection

The first Jews who settled in Rome were expelled in 139 BCE, along with Chaldaean astrologers by Cornelius Hispalus under a law which proscribed the propagation of the "corrupting" cult of "Jupiter Sabazius," according to the epitome of a lost book of Valerius Maximus:

Gnaeus Cornelius Hispalus, praetor peregrinus in the year of the consulate of Marcus Popilius Laenas and Lucius Calpurnius, ordered the astrologers by an edict to leave Rome and Italy within ten days, since by a fallacious interpretation of the stars they perturbed fickle and silly minds, thereby making profit out of their lies. The same praetor compelled the Jews, who attempted to infect the Roman custom with the cult of Jupiter Sabazius, to return to their homes."

True or not, In a similar vein, Plutarch maintained that the Jews worshipped Dionysus, and that the day of Sabbath was a festival of Sabazius.] Plutarch also discusses the identification of the Jewish god with the "Egyptian" (actually archaic Greek) Typhon, an identification which he later rejects, however (though the identification of Typhon-Seth and YHWH is not really controversial, as it is well attested to in Hebrew practice from the 4th century BC through the 1st century AD). The monotheistic Hypsistarians worshipped the Jewish god under this name.

By this it is conjectured that the Romans identified the Jewish Yahweh Saboas ("of the Hosts") as Jove Sabazius.

By Rev 2:9 & 3:9, we see the Edomites (descendants of Esau), who are follower's and worshipper's of Satan, claiming to be Jewish to hide their true identity, but are liars!!
they claim they are Jews #2453 Ioudas - Judas; in Hebrew 3063 - Yehudah - a descendant of Judah. The paid their way into the Herodian ruling class. The Saducean priesthood during the first century were not of Aaron but consisted of four families: Boethus, Hanan, Kimchit, and Phiabi.  They intermarried with the Herodians, the Royal Rulers of the State of Israel, who were, themselves Edomites (Idumeans) from the Petra region (or Edom) and descendants of Esau (or Seir, which means "shaggy, he-goat, devil"), thus the "synagogue of Satan" leaders claimed to be Jews but were Edomites appointed by the Herodian rulers under Rome; Herod Antipas, for instance, and Pontius Pilate held the same governmental position for Rome, the reason for much rivalry between them); since Esau was "red and hairy" his nickname was Edom, and he lived in Seir where Ham's descendants settled.

and I (know) the blasphemy #988 blasphemeo - to vilify, to speak impiously, defame, speak evil from #989 blasphemia - vilification; in Hebrew #5007 ne'atsah - to scorn, blasphemy from #5006 na'ats - to scorn, abhor, despise, provoke, condemn; in Jewish law, however, a blasphemy can also be any act deemed disrespectful of Yahvah, and is considered a curse or execration for which a penalty of death is prescribed; for instance, the crime of a rebellious son, one who does not honor his mother and father but is a "glutton and a winebibber" is blasphemy and is punishable by stoning

You, who in Cupid's roll inscribe your name,
First seek an object worthy of your flame;1
Then strive, with art, your lady's mind to gain;
And last, provide your love may long remain.
1 The poet here gives his advice as to three things: to seek after an amiable object: to win it by respect and complacency, and not to lose it after once gotten.
On these three precepts all my work shall move:
These are the rules and principles of love.
Before your youth with marriage is oppress't,2
Make choice of one who suits your humour best
And such a damsel drops not from the sky;
She must be sought for with a curious eye.
The wary angler, in the winding brook,
Knows what the fish, and where to bait his hook.

The fowler and the huntsman know by name
The certain haunts and harbour of their game.
So must the lover beat the likeliest grounds;
Th' Assemblies where his quarries most abound:

Nor shall my novice wander far astray;
These rules shall put him in the ready way.
Thou shalt not fail around the continent,
As far as Perseus or as Paris went:

For Rome alone affords thee such a store,
As all the world can hardly shew thee more.
The face of heav'n with fewer stars is crown'd,
Than beauties in the Roman sphere are found.

Whether thy love is bent on blooming youth,
On dawning sweetness, in unartful truth;
Or courts the juicy joys of riper growth;
Here may'st thou find thy full desires in both:

Or if autumnal beauties please thy sight
(An age that knows to give and take delight;)
Millions of matrons, of the graver sort,
In common prudence, will not balk the sport.
2 That is, while you are a freeman, unmarried, and not engaged to any other mistress. The truest meaning that can be given, is, that while you are young, and are not yet troubled with the infirmities of age (for an old man in love is ridiculous) choose where you please.
In summer's heats thou need'st but only go
To Pompey's cool and shady portico;3
Or Concord's fane; or that proud edifice
Whose turrets near the bawdy suburbs rise;

Or to that other portico, where stands
The cruel father urging his commands.
And fifty daughters wait the time of rest,
To plunge their poniards in the bridegroom's breast.
3 This was a shady walk which Pompey built for the people; and there were several in Rome of the same sort; but the most admirable one of all the porticos, was the Corinthian, near the Flaminian cirque, built by Cneius Octavius.
Or Venus' temple; where, on annual nights,
They mourn Adonis with Assyrian rites.4

4 It was the custom among the Romans, to meet in the temples of Venus to mourn Adonis; of which the prophet Ezekiel speaks, (Ezek. viii. 14.) [Ezekial warns about the evil musical worship]; and infamous acts of lewdness were there committed, if we may believe Juvenal in his sixth satire.

Ezekiel 8.[14] et introduxit me per ostium portae domus Domini quod respiciebat ad aquilonem et ecce ibi mulieres sedebant plangentes Adonidem

Nor shun the Jewish walk, where the foul drove
On sabbaths rest from everything but love.5

5 There were great numbers of the Jews at Rome in Augustus's reign, who were allowed full liberty to exercise their ceremonies, according to the law of Moses.
    And the Roman ladies went often to see them out of curiosity,
    which gave occasion for assignations at their synagogues.

Nor Isis' temple; for that sacred whore
Makes others, what to Jove she was before;6
And if the hall itself be not belied,
E'en there the cause of love is often tried;
6 That is, many women were debauched by Isis's means, as she was by Jupiter under the name of Io. [Saturn, Kairos]
Near it at least, or in the palace yard,
From whence the noisy combatants are heard.
The crafty counsellors, in formal gown,7
There gain another's cause, but lose their own.

Their eloquence is nonpluss'd in the suit;
And lawyers, who had words at will, are mute.
Venus from her adjoining temple smiles
To see them caught in their litigious wiles;

7 The following verses are a happy paraphrase of Ovid; in whose time we find the long robe dealt as much with the stola, etc., as it does in our own.

Ov. Ars 1
Grave senators lead home the youthful dame,8
Returning clients when they patrons came.
8 We see these assemblies were composed of all sorts of persons; upon which our French author remarks thus: " This does not very well agree to the practice in our days; and I cannot comprehend how gallant women could frequent the courts of justice : where it is to be supposed, nobody came but such as had business and suits depending."
But above all, the Playhouse is the place;9
There's choice of quarry in that narrow chace:

There take thy stand, and sharply looking out,
Soon may'st thou find a mistress in the rout,
For length of time or for a single bout.

The Theatres are berries for the fair;
Like ants or mole-hills thither they repair;
Like bees to hives so numerously they throng,
It may be said they to that place belong:

Thither they swarm who have the public voice;
There choose, if plenty not distracts thy choice.
To see, and to be seen, in heaps they run;
Some to undo, and some to be undone.

9 It must be owned, the theatres, amphitheatres, cirques [church], hippodromes, and all places where the public feasts

and rejoicings were kept, were very fatal to the chastity of the women of old.

ADDRESS TO THE CHURCH AT PERGAMON FROM JESUS CHRIST

Revelation 2:12 And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write;
        These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges;

Revelation 2:13 I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan’s seat is:
        and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith,
        even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr,
        who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.
Revelation 2:14 But I have a few things against thee,
        because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam,
        who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel,
        to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.

Jude1:11 Woe unto them for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.

Jude 1:12These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;

Jude 13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.

Jude 14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,

Jude 15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

Jude 16 These are murmurers, complainers [blaming Fate], walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having mens persons in admiration because of advantage.

"Elements of ritual and mythology were taken over from Canaanite religion and inocrporated into the worship of Yahweh. Former Canaanite sanctuaries, like Bethel, Shechem, and perhaps Gilgal, were rededicated to Yahweh, and the Canaanite agricultural calendar was adopted for the timing of the pilgrimage festivals. Parents began naming their children after Baal, apparently with no thought of abandoning Yahweh.... As late as the eighth century B.C., Israelites--according to the prophet Hosea—actually addressed Yahweh as 'Baal," and by worhipping him according to the rituals of Baal sought the blessing of fertility (Hos. 2) At the popular level this syncretism—that is, the fusion of different religious forms and view--went on to some degree from the time Israel first set foot on Canaanite." "I will put an end to her rejoicing, her feasts, her new moons, her Sabbaths, and all her festivals (Hosea ii,11). "Interpreted, this means that they have rejected the ruling of the law, and have followed the festivals of the nations.

I will ravage her vines and her fig trees, of which she said, 'They are my wage which my lovers have given me'.  I wall make them a thicked and the will beasts shall eat them...ii, 12  See Isaiah 5

But they, like Adam, have broken the Covenant (vi, 7)
Its interpretation... they have forsaken God and walked according to the decrees of the Gentiles....

Balaam had, in fact, taught the Moabites after this episode to get around the blessings of the Lord by causing Israel to commit idolatry and thus come into condemnation under the law (Num. 31:16). The Moabite women had invited Israel to the sacrifices of their gods, and the people ate of the food sacrificed to idols [dung] and bowed down to their gods and, thus, Israel yoked itself to Baal of Peor, the Canaanite god of storms and fertility, worshipped at the cult centre of Peor (Num. 25:1-5).

Malachi 2:1 And now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you.
Malachi 2:2 If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the LORD of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart.
Malachi 2:3 Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your solemn feasts; and one shall take you away with it.

A Neo-Babylonian royal inscription of Nebuchadrezzar II on a stele from Babylon, claimed to have been found in the 1917 excavation by Robert Koldewey,[1] and of uncertain authenticity, reads:

"Etemenanki[2] Zikkurat Babibli [Ziggurat of Babylon] I made it, the wonder of the people of the world, I raised its top to heaven, made doors for the gates, and I covered it with bitumen and bricks." The Etemananki is depicted in shallow relief, showing its high first stages with paired flights of steps, five further stepped stages and the temple that surmounted the structure. A floor plan is also shown, depicting the buttressed outer walls and the inner chambers surrounding the central cella.

The Etemenanki is described in a cuneiform tablet from Uruk from 229 BC, a copy of an older text (now in the Louvre in Paris). It gives the height of the tower as seven stocks (91 meters) with a square base of 91 meters on each side. This mud brick structure was confirmed by excavations conducted by Robert Koldewey after 1913. Large stairs were discovered at the south side of the building, where a triple gate connected it with the Esagila. A larger gate to the east connected the Etemenanki with the sacred procession road (now reconstructed in the Pergamon Museum in Berlin).

Revelation 2:15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.
Revelation 2:16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly,
        and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

"The root of the word (Nicolaitans) through historical evaluation shows us that the word Nicolaitans comes from Greek nikao, to conquer or overcome, and laos, which means people and which the word laity comes from. The two words together especially means the destruction of the people and refers to the earliest form of what we call a priestly order or clergy

which later on in church history
divided people allowing for leadership other than
those led by the Lord Jesus Christ.

"A good translation of Nicolaitan would be "those who prevail over the people." This clerical system later developed into the papal hierarchy of priests and clergy over the laity. The Council of Trent stated that "If anyone shall say that there is not in the Catholic Church a hierarchy established by the divine ordination, consisting of bishops, presbyters and ministers, let him be anathema." This very idea was taken over by the Protestants with their own corruption of church leadership. Another of the seven churches, the Church of Ephesus was commended for hating the deeds of the Nicolaitans.

The wrong separation of the clergy from the laity is a great evil in God's sight and He hates the lust for religious power.

"There is an ungodly spiritual authority in the Church today, which is nothing more than the prideful spirit of control, manipulation, domination and intimidation and a rebellion of the rightful authority of Jesus.

Left Image: Nike or Eros often dominated with musical themes.

It is thought by some that there is a linguistic connection between the words "Nicolaitans" and "Balaam." This is because the word "Balaam" is formed from the Hebrew words "Baal" ("lord," "master," or "boss") and "am" ("people"), so that it means something like "master of the people." The Greek word "Nicolaitan" is from the Greek "nikos" ("victory" or "triumph" [Nike apparel takes it name from this Greek word]) and "laos" ("people"), so that it could mean something like "victory over the people" or "triumph over the people." Because of the possible similarity in meaning, some think that the word "Nicolaitan" is a translation into Greek of the meaning of the word "Balaam," and they would point to the connection between the two in Revelation 2:14-15. Thus, the idea is that the deeds and doctrines of the Nicolaitans are the same as or similar to the deeds and doctrines of Balaam."

Psalm 41 promised that Judas would not "triumph over" Jesus and the Judas bag was for "carrying the mouthpieces of wind instruments."

Nike, sculpture from a bronze vessel, probably made in a Greek city of southern Italy, c. 490 BC; in the British Museum By courtesy of the trustees of the British Museum

Nike is also portrayed erecting a trophy, or, frequently, hovering with outspread wings over the victor in a competition; for her functions referred to success not only in war but in all other undertakings. Indeed, Nike gradually came to be recognized as a sort of mediator of success between gods and men.

A.B. TRAINA "The Savior said that He hated the deeds and the doctrines of the Nico-laitans, even though they were members of His congregation in Ephesus and Pergamos; and I am sure you would not want to be numbered among them, nor to fellowship with them if you knew who they were. When these Nicolaitans were in the minority, the Savior said to the congregation, "Put them out from among you" (I Cor. 5:13). But now, when these Nicolaitans (idolaters) have taken over the congregation, Abba says to the believers, "Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith YHWH, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you," (2 Corinthians 6:17)
        The Nicolaitans infiltrated the early assembly and finally took over the policy-making. Having overcome the resistance of the saints who were contending for the faith, they opened the way for Jezebel, the ancient symbol for seductiveness, to come in and seduce the servants of YHWH by saying that le-sus Kris-tos (Jesus Christ) was the Greek translation of Yahushua the Messiah. This ruse was so successful that it has deceived all the nations of the earth.

Who were the Nicolaitans? The evangelists of Zeus! (Jupiter) who overcame or conquered the Jewish congregation. The Nicolaitans were not the followers of any leader Nicolas, but were NikoLaos themselves.
        In Greek mythology, Nike is represented as the Goddess of Victory whose function was to proselytize or evangelize for Zeus, the Greek deity, and ascribe to him all the honor and glory of all the other gods, and thus displace them that he might be worshipped in their stead.

ADDRESS TO THE CHURCH AT THYATIRA FROM JESUS CHRIST

THE PROPHETIC TYPE

1 Kings 18:26 And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar which was made.

"raved, lost consciousness and rational ability, chanted, mutilated themselves and exhibited all kinds of abnormal behavior... these Nebhiim are to be identified with the prophets of Baal who exhibited such frenzied conduct on Mount Carmel (1 Sam. 10), the schools of the prophets under Elijah and Elisha (2 Ki. 2-6), and the band of four hundred prophets who were attached to King Ahab's court (1 Ki. 22)."

All music in the effeminate pagan religions intended to be mind altering which is MARKED by singing, clapping, waving unholy arms in the air and moving the body in "symphony" which was identified as having a sexual climax with the spirit (Vineyard, aka New Wineskinners). The fact that you feel in control is proof that such music always intended to BIND the tribe to the Alpha billy Goat.

"All these texts point, explicitly or implicitly, to the fact that the dance had a musical accompaniment. Even though the Bible makes no mention of it we must assume that the movements of the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel were made with an accompaniment on certain musical instruments... (de Vaux, p. 242).

"Singing served as a means of inducing ecstatic prophecy (speaking in tongues).

Thus the essential relationship between music and prophecy can be clearly seen.
This relationship also explains why the expression for "
making music" and "prophesying" was often identical in the ancient tongues. origen contra celsum 8.67.

The Hebrew word Naba signifies not only "to prophesy" but also "to make music." (Quasten, Johannes, Music and Worship in Pagan and Christian Antiquity, p. 39)

 When the contest between music and word was ended
1 Kings 18:40 And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.
Zechariah prophesied that after the SIGNS had been performed to identify the coming of the Branch, anyone who continued to perform this musical prophesying should be killed by their parents.  Of the lord, lord or HALAL singers, Jesus said that the Father does not know their name because the Son has not and will not confess them.
2 Kings 9:36 Wherefore they came again, and told him. And he said, This is the word of the LORD, which he spake by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel:

2 Kings 9:37 And the carcase of Jezebel shall be as dung upon the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel; so that they shall not say, This is Jezebel.

Ekballo is most often used with

Beelzebub, or Baalzebűb, the Philistine god of Accaron (Ekron), scarcely 25 miles west of Jerusalem, whose oracle King Ochozias (Ahaziah) attempted to consult in his last illness, IV (II) Kings, i, 2. It is only as an oracle that the god is known to us; no other mention of him occurs in the Old Testament. The name is commonly translated "the lord of the flies", and the god is supposed to be so called either because as a sun god he brings the flies, though the Ba'al was probably not a sun god, or more likely because he is invoked to drive away the flies from the sacrifice, like the Zeus Apomuios

Plat. Phaedrus 244a For if it were a simple fact that insanity is an evil, the saying would be true; but in reality the greatest of blessings come to us through madness, when it is sent as a gift of the gods. For the prophetess at Delphi
Plat. Phaedrus 244b  and the priestesses at Dodona [clanging brass] when they have been mad have conferred many splendid benefits upon Greece both in private and in public affairs, but few or none when they have been in their right minds; and if we should speak of the Sibyl and all the others who by prophetic inspiration have foretold many things to many persons and thereby made them fortunate afterwards, anyone can see that we should speak a long time. And it is worth while to adduce also the fact that those men of old who invented names thought that madness was neither shameful nor disgraceful;

Plat. Epin. 987b is clearly a sign of witlessness; and as to their having got no names, the cause of it should be stated as we have done. For indeed they have received titles of gods: thus, that Lucifer, or Hesperus(which is the same), should almost belong to Aphrodite,1 is reasonable, and quite befitting a Syrian lawgiver2; and that that which follows the same course as the sun and this3 together should almost belong to Hermes.4 Let us also note three motions of bodies5 travelling to the right with the moon and the sun. One must be mentioned, the eighth,6 which we may especially address as the world-order, and which travels in opposition to the whole company of the others, not impelling them, as might appear to mankind in the scant knowledge that they have of these matters. But we are bound to state,

1 Lucifer, or Hesperus, may for its beauty be connected with Aphrodite
        (and so got the further name of Venus OR ZOE).

2 The cult of Aphrodite flourished among all the eastern peoples.

ADDRESS TO THE CHURCH AT SARDIS FROM JESUS CHRIST

Revelation 3:1 And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write;
        These things saith he that hath the seven SPIRIT of God, and the seven stars;
        I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.

In the Orphic Hymn to Rhea: And Orphic.html
Now
Rhea, as Ceres, in Hymn XIV, is called 'brass-sounding' and
'drum-beating'
. This has reference to the mystical results of certain sounds and rhythm, part and parcel of what the Hindus call Mantravidyâ.
Music
and Mantras, therefore, were used by the Orphics to attract, or call down, the influence of the Mother of the Gods, who at the same time was the 'Store-house of Life', of Divine Nature. Thus Proclus in his Commentary on Euclid (ii) tells us that 'the Pole of the World is called by the Pythagoreans the Seal of Rhea' (Myst. Hymns, p. 63).

Hdt. 5.102.1 In the fire at Sardis,1 a temple of Cybebe,2 the goddess of that country, was burnt, and the Persians afterwards made this their pretext for burning the temples of Hellas. At this time, the Persians of the provinces this side3 of the Halys, on hearing of these matters, gathered together and came to aid the Lydians.

2 Or Cybele, the great goddess of the Phrygians and Lydians.
3 Lit. “within”; that is, from the Greek point of view, and so west of the Halys.

W. W. How, J. Wells, A Commentary on Herodotus 5.CII. Kubębęs. The 'Great Mother' goddess of the Phrygians worshipped at Pessinus, the mętęr Dindumęnę of i. 80. 1. For the Anatolian 'Great Mother' cf. App. I. 2, Frazer, G. B. iv, Bk. II, Attis, &c.; Ramsay, in Hastings' Bible Dictionary, extra vol., p. 120 f. The Atys myth which involved her cult is connected with Sardis by H.'s story of the son of Croesus (i. 34. 2 n.). The Great Mother was worshipped at Athens in the days of Sophocles (Phil. 391), and identified by the Greeks with Rhea, mother of the gods (cf. iv. 76; Strabo 469), with Aphrodite, with Demeter, and with Artemis as the lady of the wild woods. But here she is regarded as a foreign goddess.

The especial worship of Cybele was conducted by emasculated priests called Galli (or, as in vv. 12 and 34, with reference to their physical condition, Gallae). Their name was derived by the ancients from that of the river Gallus, a tributary of the Sangarius, by drinking from which men became inspired with frenzy (cf. Ov. Fast. 4.361ff.). The worship was orgiastic in the extreme, and was accompanied by the sound of such frenzy-producing instruments as the tympana, cymbala, tibiae, and cornu,

See Paul in Galatians 5 and warning about the emasculated priests which would indicate that the WOMEN had taken control. Musical worship is Witchcraft.

Thy timbrel, Mother Cybele, the firstings of thy rite,
And as her tender finger-tips on bull-back hollow rang
She rose a-grieving and her song to listening comrades sang.

"Up Gallae, hie together, haste for Cybele's deep grove,
Hie to the Dindymnean dame, ye flocks that love to rove;
The which affecting stranger steads as bound in exile's brunt
My sect pursuing led by me have nerved you to confront

As your hate of Venus' [ZOE] hest your

Gladden your souls, ye mistresses, with sense of error bann'd.
Drive from your spirits dull delay, together follow ye
To hold of Phrygian goddess, home of Phrygian Cybebe,
Where loud the cymbal's voice resounds with timbrel-echoes blending,
And where the Phrygian piper drones grave bass from reed a-bending,

Where toss their ivy-circled heads with might the Maenades
Where ply mid shrilly lullilooes the holiest mysteries,
Where to fly here and there be wont the she-god's vaguing train,
Thither behoves us lead the dance in quick-step hasty strain."

Heredotus 8:CV. Hermotimus, who came from Pedasa, had achieved a fuller vengeance for wrong done to him than had any man whom we know. When he had been taken captive by enemies and put up for sale, he was bought by one Panionius of Chios, a man who had set himself to earn a livelihood out of most wicked practices. He would procure beautiful boys and castrate and take them to Sardis and Ephesus where he sold them for a great price, [2] for the barbarians value eunuchs more than perfect men, by reason of the full trust that they have in them. Now among the many whom Panionius had castrated was Hermotimus, who was not entirely unfortunate; he was brought from Sardis together with other gifts to the king, and as time went on, he stood higher in Xerxes' favor than any other eunuch.

Zoe and Cybele or Rhea is Eve Paul did not want to get control.

Eve is mentioned only twice in the New Testament and because Jesus spoke in parables to HIDE the truth from the WISE (sophists=rhetoricians, singers, musicians, actors).  Moses was writing an INVERTED version of Babylon Myths AFTER the nation fell from grace BECAUSE of instrumental idolatry at Mount Sinai.  Therefore, those who mock Paul do not understand that Paul knew all about Eve and scholars know nothing. While not necessarily true, Paul understood that women especially looked to EVE (Zoe, Mary) as THEIR Mediatrix.

The serpents, however, of the magicians-(that is,) the gods of destruction-withstood the power of Moses in Egypt, but the rod of Moses reduced them all to subjection and slew them. This universal serpent is, he says, the wise discourse of Eve. This, he says, is the mystery of Edem, this the river of Edem;
this the mark that was set upon Cain,
that any one who findeth him might not kill him. This, he says, is Cain, [Gen. iv. 15]
whose sacrifice [Gen. iv. 5. ] the god of this world
did not accept.

Theophilus to Autolycus

This Eve, on account of her having been in the beginning deceived by the serpent, and become the author of sin, the wicked demon, who also is called Satan, who then spoke to her through the serpent, and who works even to this day in those men that are possessed by him, invokes as Eve.58 And he is called "demon" and "dragon," on account of his revolting from God. For at first he was an angel. And concerning his history there is a great deal to be said; wherefore I at present omit the relation of it, for I have also given an account of him in another place.

58 Referring to the bacchanalian orgies in which " Eva " was shouted, and which the Fathers professed to believe was an unintentional invocation of Eve, the authoress of all sin.

The word "abomination" is also key to understanding the context. In Hebrew, the word "to 'evah," (abomination) is almost invariably linked to idolatry. In the passages from which both verses are taken, God tells Moses to tell the people not to follow the idolatrous practices of the people around them, people who sacrificed their children to Molech, or who masturbated into the fire to offer their semen to Molech, for example. Chapter 20 starts off with the same warning.

"To 'evah" also means "something which is ritually unclean.

Rick Atchley claims that "a spirit" told him to preach the sermons leading to adding religious performers in the so-called worship services. The Spirit OF Christ who inspired the prophets said that hypocrites were rhetoricians, singers and instrument players.  Jesus quoted Ezekiel 33 to mark the Scribes and Pharisees as hypocrites. These are the ones SELLING the product of the "doctors of the law."  Jesus said that they take away the key to knowledge.  That is their professionn: that is what they do.

The Seven Spirits of God would rest on the man Jesus of Nazareth: God made Him to be both Lord and Christ and Grace and Word and Righteousness.  Pseudo-scholars are left with absolutely no words to add says Christ in Isaiah 58 after telling us NOT to spend our food money  on the WORDS of any man.

Psa. 33:4 For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.

Psa. 33:7 He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses.

Parables to fool the foolish Scribes and Pharisees: speakers, singers, players. [Matthew 13]

Psa. 33:9 For he spake, and it was done;

The Menorah was in the Holy Place typifying the TRUE Church or Synagogue which began in the wilderness. Any preacher, singer or instrument player who went near or into any holy place was commanded by God to be executed. God did not command the Levites to make worship music.

"Singing served as a means of inducing ecstatic prophecy (speaking in tongues). Thus the essential relationship between music and prophecy can be clearly seen. This relationship also explains why the expression for "making music" and "prophesying" was often identical in the ancient tongues. origen contra celsum 8.67.

Dialog of Phaedrus and Socrates notes:

It might be so if madness were simply an evil ;but there is also a madness which is a divine gift,
and the source of the chiefest blessings granted to men.
For prophecy is a madness, and the prophetess at Delphi and the priestesses at Dodona
when out of their senses have conferred great benefits on Hellas,
both in public and private life, but when in their senses few or none.

Revelation 3:2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die:

Ekklesia, Synagogue or Church is A School of Christ (Christ, Paul, Campbells, etal) therefore, the ONLY role of the elders as sole PASTOR-TEACHERS is to teach that which has been taught. Therefore, anyone who has something NEW is identified by Peter as a false teacher.

Revelation 3:6 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Having "a" spirit tell you to remove CHRIST from your public confession seems like a terminal fall from grace.

Paul begins with the message from Jesus Christ--now in His Holy Spirit state--and ends with "hear what the Spirit saith to the churches." No one at Pepperdine will have anything new to ADD claiming that "a" spirit told them how to sow masssive discord.

Arnobius, Musical Mocking VI, p. 479).

"Mocking the belief that Mellonia introduces herself into the entrails, or Limentinus, and that they set themselves to make known what you seek to learn, Arnobius asks--

May it not happen, may it not come to pass, although you craftily conceal it, that the one should take the other's place, deluding, mocking, deceiving, and presenting the appearance of the deity invoked? If the magi, who are so much akin to soothsayers, relate that, in their incantations, pretend gods steal in frequently instead of those invoked; that some of these, moreover, are spirits of grosser substance, who pretend that they are gods, and delude the ignorant by their lies and deceit." (Arnobius Against the Heathen

The magicians or soothsayers sang their incantations but Arnobius warned that other "gods" or evil spirits seemed to steal in and, instead of divine truth, delivered lies and deceit. No one can justify  instrumental music and performance worship from the Bible or history without lying to God and about God.

"If any one perchance thinks that we are speaking calumnies, let him take the books of the Thracian soothsayer (Orpheus the inventor of musical soothsaying), which you speak of as of divine antiquity; and he will find that we are neither cunningly inventing anything, nor seeking means to bring the holiness of the gods into ridicule, and doing so: for we shall bring forward the very verses which the son of Calliope uttered in the Greek, and published abroad in his songs to the human race through out all all ages."

"With these words she at the same time drew up her garments from the lowest hem ,
And exposed to view formatas inguinibus res ,
Which Baubo grasping with hollow hand, for
Their appearance was infantile, strikes, touches gently.
Then the goddess, fixing her orbs of august light,
Being softened, lays aside for a little the sadness of her mind;
Thereafter she takes the cup in her hand, and laughing,
Drinks off the whole draught of cyceon with gladness."
