Our Comfort Zones

I. Introduction. Are some authorized to destroy the comfort zones Jesus died to give us?  If you get out of your own personal comfort zone it may be to leap into some one's frying pan.

Liberation Theology introduced the idea of stamping on people's Comfort Zones to force them into the Comfort Zones of the theologians--and pay them too.  Some comfort zones are not very productive in delivering "work product" for, in the Babylonian model, to the god and the god's agents, the priests. The evil sabbath meant that the religious operatives of the gods rested while the people slaved to feed those we call parasites. God's Sabbath meant rest from these burdens because Jehovah God created mankind to serve and not be served.  Because the end-time religon will be under the Babylonian Mother of Harlots (Rev 17) who uses speakers (priests), singers and instrument players to attack God. John in Revelation 18 called the sorcerers, a faithful church leadership should prepare the flock and not abandon it to the wolves.

Jeff Walling Daring to dance with God: "He demands that we open ourselves to the unexpected, the unpredictable, and even the unexplainable. The Bible is full of instances where God chose to work in outrageous and shocking ways: Walls fell down. Water stood up. Bread sprang from the ground. And the sun stood still.

"And the days of his surprises are far from over. (surprise means "to come upon unaware.")

"So if you have grown accustomed to an orderly and predictable Christianity, I understand that turning the God of all creation loose within you can be an unsettling concept. But trust him. As Jesus said, he will not give you a snake if you ask for a fish.

Aristophanes, Wasps: All applauded excepting Theophrastus, [1315]  who made a grimace as behoved a well-bred man like him. The old man called to him, "Hi! tell me then what you have to be proud of? Not so much mouthing, you, who so well know how to play the buffoon and to lick-spittle the rich!" In this way he insulted each in turn with the grossest of jests, [1320]  and he reeled off a thousand of the most absurd and ridiculous speeches.

Xenophon, Memorabilla. [10] But I hold that they who cultivate wisdom and think they will be able to guide the people in prudent policy never lapse into violence: they know that enmities and dangers are inseparable from violence, but persuasion produces the same results safely and amicably. For violence, by making its victims sensible of loss, rouses their hatred: but persuasion, by seeming to confer a favour, wins goodwill. It is not, then, cultivation of wisdom that leads to violent methods, but the possession of power without prudence. 

Shocking includes: "highly offensive to good taste, propriety, extremely revolting."

When the Dionysus infected Jews were identified as children piping trying to force Jesus to sing and dance or lament, they sought to unsettle him:

The word unsettling in Greek is:

Throeo (g2360) thro-eh'-o; (to wail); to clamor, i.e. (by impl.) to frighten: - trouble
Thriambeuo (g2358) three-am-byoo'-o; from a prol. comp. of the base of 2360 and a der. of 680 (meaning a noisy iambus, sung in honor of Bacchus); to make an acclamatory procession, i.e. (fig.) to conquer or (by Hebr.) to give victory: - (cause) to triumph (over).

Yet at least one major strand of mythic narrative and religious art diverges to tell another kind of story, one in which the power of the strange and chaotic gains the upper hand. This is the triumph of Dionysos: god of wine and theatre, raucous music and frenzied dance; god of the wild, weird and exotic; god of the ecstatic, sexual and fertile; god of mystery, madness and the irrational; god of passion, comedy and tragedy; god of bloody raw feasts and secret initiation rites; and, significantly, a deity also known as "the god of women." 

They have overtaken me in a narrow pass (gap) without escape
And there is no rest for me in my trial.
        They sound my censure upon a harp 
        and their murmuring and storming upon a zither." Ps.41:11DSS Version

However, when Jesus leads in triumph, the instruments will be the lips and heart: 

I will groan with the zither of lamentation
        in all grief-stricken mourning and bitter complaint 

until iniquity and wickedness are consumed
        and the disease-bringing scourge is no more.

See how we are to save OURSELVES from this crooked generation which spreads disease John in Revelation calls plagues.

Jesus consigned the unsettlers to the marketplace where all singing, instruments and trying to force people into unnatural acts originated.

Livy defined the Bacchanalibus to prove that the unsettling with music was always a perverted effort to force people to be initiated into Dionysus--the god of the new wineskin--rituals where music was the MACHINERY for bringing on a mental delusion John called sorcery.

Promise Keepers claim that:

"The spirits are energizing the "revival" through a sense of love, joy, peace, compassion and the need for accountability" through small groups. The pronounced method of changing a group from where they want to be to where you want them to be is to upset their equilibrium by "moving them out of their comfort zone."

Out of the Comfort Zone Theology people have concluded that it is fear close to insanity which forces people to resist imposed changes such as a "new style praise singing" which has upset the comfort zones of most religious groups: driving one Methodist church into "five musical sects."  However, in the must discomforted churches driving out up to half of its members the FEAR is more market driven.  Rather than a quiet, decent assembly being the product of our heritage--a disease we caught from out ancestors--the 100% opinion thoroughout history is that musical sectarianism is based on false teachers loosing their comfort zone as the false Jews murdered Stephen because he threatened their "law and place."

Former ceremonies are exposed to derision, and

        to see even that which is placed in open light,
        dare to assert in their frenzy

Before we allow people to confess to discomforting us wtih ancient paganism, look at Babylon where one mother, Inanna, stole all of the magical sorcery scrolls of "the eldership, musicla performers and sexual perversion" and others:

In Egypt: There were also a number of priestesses associated with the mother-goddess Hathor (wife of the sun god Re), who were mainly concerned with playing the sacred sistra and other musical instruments. From the 18th to the 21st dynasties (1567--1085 BC), however, under the Theban priesthood of Amon-Re, the priestly hierarchy was able to create an absolute "state within a state."

This is the clear mark of Miriam as a prophetess of Hathor by her rights as attached to the ruling class.

"In Mesopotamia, where kingship occupied a less prominent position than it did in the Nile valley, powerful priesthoods and highly organized temples were firmly established in and after the 4th millennium BC. 

The temples were centres of sacred learning of the content and
        methods of incantation, prognostication, exorcism,
        and political and economic administration,
        and their attendent priests were divided into classes
        with special sacerdotal and secular functions.

The valleys of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers contained a series of city-states loosely bound together under the rule of a governor (patesi or ensi) and of a high priest (sangu mah).

Their main functions were to integrate the temple communities of the city, their revenues and boundaries, and the unigallu, or head of the priesthood, was responsible for the performance of the seasonal rites, with the assistance of those who sang the liturgies and directed the temple music and those who uttered the lamentations, invoked the oracles, and interpreted the astrological signs and omens.

The duties of other members of the priesthood included making incantations and pronouncing spells and exorcisms. The seers, or baru, foretold the future by means of soothsaying , interpreting dreams and visions, and communicating revelations. Britannica Members.

In Corinth as Paul warned of the Mad Women:

Hiero-doulos A. temple-slave, especially of temple courtesans at Corinth and elsewhere, Str.8.6.20, 6.2.6; also of men, Id.11.4.7,  

Str.8.6.20 Strabo, Geography 8.6.[20] Corinth is called "wealthy" because of its commerce. And the temple of Aphrodite was so rich that it owned more than a thousand temple slaves, courtesans, whom both men and women had dedicated to the goddess.  Moreover, it is recorded that a certain courtesan said to the woman who reproached her with the charge that she did not like to work or touch wool: "Yet, such as I am, in this short time I have taken down three webs."   

When Jesus came the nation of Israel was filled with inherited Babylonian practices so that Jesus spoke in parables because the clergy were not permitted to hear the gospel. Jesus marked them as hypocrites meaning theatrical performers.

For the Scribes and Pharisees a Comfort Zone was out in public: long performance prayers, blowing the trumpet when "laying by in store" and taking liberties with the Word of God.  Jesus called the Scribes and Pharisees hypocrites by quoting Isaiah and the Ezekiel parallel.

The church as ekklesia or synagogue or school of the Bible is claimed to be the place to come and hear the word of the Lord.  However, the almost total Comfort Zone insists that it be a place for performance speaking and listening to professional-grade singers and musicians

Ezek. 33:29 Then shall they know that I am the LORD,
        when I have laid the land most desolate
        because of all their abominations which they have committed.  

Ezek. 33:30 Also, thou son of man,
        the children of thy people still are talking against thee by the walls and in the doors of the houses,
        and speak one to another, every one to his brother, saying,
        Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from the LORD.

Ezek. 33:31 And they come unto thee as the people cometh,
        and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words,
        but they will not do them:
        for with their mouth they shew much love,
        but their heart goeth after their covetousness.

Vulgate translates, "They turn thy words into a song of their mouths." heart goeth after covetousness--the grand rival to the love of God; therefore called "idolatry," and therefore associated with impure carnal love,

This was their Comfort Zone and God defined it in the worst of possible identification of empty hypocricy:

Ezek. 33:32 And, lo, thou art unto them
        as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice,
        and can play well on an instrument:
        for they hear thy words, but they do them not.
Ezek. 33:33 And when this cometh to pass, (lo, it will come,)
        then shall they know that a prophet hath been among them.

Because this has been the universal practice of the Jews who had been abandoned to worship the starry host, Jesus came to silence the "songs in the temples" and "turn them into mournings" for the loss of the Word of God.

Because Israel had adopted the common Greek form of Dionysus worship, it is fair to hear Tertullian speak of these spectacles.

For such is the power of earthly pleasures, that, to retain the opportunity of still partaking of them,

it contrives to prolong swilling ignorance, and bribes knowledge into playing a dishonest part. To both things, perhaps, some among you are allured by the views of the heathens who in this matter

are wont to press us with arguments, such as these:  

(1) That the exquisite enjoyments of ear and eye we have in things external are not in the least opposed to religion in the mind and conscience; and
(2) That surely no offence is offered to God, in any human enjoyment, by any of our pleasures, which it is not sinful to partake of in its own time and place, with all due honour and reverence secured to Him.

But this is precisely what we are ready to prove: That these things are not consistent with true religion and true obedience to the true God.

Let us pass on now to theatrical exhibitions, which we have already shown have a common origin with the circus [Circe=church], and bear like idolatrous designations-even as from the first they have borne the name of "Ludi," and equally minister to idols.

They resemble each other also in their pomp,
        having the same procession to the
        scene of their display from temples and altars,
        and that mournful profusion of incense and blood,
        with music of pipes and trumpets,
            all under the direction of the soothsayer and the undertaker,
            those two foul masters of funeral rites and sacrifices. 

In the face of Jewish, pagan and most modern religionism addicted to a Comfort Zone which replaces the Word of God as directly commanded, people believe that they have a right to IMPOSE the pagan comforts into peaceable non-instrumental churches. The purpose driving their deliberate sowing of discord is that by upsetting the Comfort Zones of people who honor the Bible and all history as opposed to theatrical-hypocritical arts is, in their own words, to turn church into a "theater for holy entertainment."

With that Driven Purpose, it is not uncommon for musical preachers under the NACC to promote "unity" as a ploy to teach all of the "proof texts" supporting musical instruments. Unfortunately, they use information out of context and ignoring the story line and defend that which The Spirit OF Christ through all of the prophets identify as hypocricy and idolatry. The worst possible example of such religionism is defined as rhetoricians, singers and instrument players.

Before looking at isolated "instrument" proof-texts, it is important to ask why people feel obligated to deliberately sow discord and sanctify it as "upsetting their comfort zones." Don't they really want to impose their comfort zones on others.

Based on the need for music as a comfort zone for the whole week we should ask whether sitting down and listening to the Word of God for a few minutes without music deprives them of the opiate they need to make it through life.  Reading and listening is not addictive: music is a highly addictive drug (endorphins) inducer.

More troubling is that they usurp the roles of the elders and the collective body who are the "owners" of their community comfort zone. Evangelism, on the other hand, is the role of those claiming to be "located missionaries." Those with talent are commanded to use it to minister to others: those who speak in the assembly are commanded to speak as the oracle of God. The words for speak are defined and proven in the ancient texts to be the opposite of poetry or music which was used to deceive.

They make the claim that not using machines for doing hard work in the assembly is a form of mental illness.

"A comfort zone denotes that limited set of behaviors that a person will engage without becoming anxious. A comfort zone is a type of mental conditioning that causes a person to create and operate mental boundaries that are not real. Such boundaries create an unfounded sense of security

Of Anxiety: Somatically the body prepares the organism to deal with threat (known as an emergency reaction): blood pressure and heart rate are increased, sweating is increased, bloodflow to the major muscle groups is increased, and immune and digestive system functions are inhibited. Externally, somatic signs of anxiety may include pale skin, sweating, trembling, and pupillary dilation."

The fact is that based on "feelings" most people would rather listen to music than a sermon.  People who understand the nature of God and all known history base their sitting down and being silent on rational understanding that God is God and we are not.  It is minimal common decency not to make noises when Jesus comes as our teacher when the elders "teach that which has been taught."

Music upsets most normal comfort zones as a mind altering weapon: some are infirm and cannot tolerate the excessive stimulation which causes their brains to "dither" trying to keep track of all of the complex tones.  Most of us can only track only one tone at a time without causing the brain to labor with destructive emotional and physical consequences.  The arousal caused by music is compared to the feelings of being attacked by a saber toothed tiger when there is nothing to fear.  Younger people have not been sound-poisoned and hearing impaired and do not know that they are afflicting many people.

The Power of Music  Where medical science proves that all musical terms were known to be weapons to arouse mortal fear in warfare and in religion where the object of the prophetesses was to bring the customer into the presence of the gods--whom they called demons.

7. Sue Hallam concludes that "(while) there is little hard evidence regarding the extent to which music directly influences self-directed behaviour, we do know that music can influence our moods and some aspects of our behaviour in ways which may be outside our conscious awareness." She then embarks on a fascinating summary of the neurological aspects of musical processing.

Thus music can be experienced physiologically (eg changes in heart rate); through movement; through mood and emotion; and cognitively (through knowledge and memories). The fact that music is processed in many ways and has physical, emotional and cognitive effects may, in Sue Hallam's view, be the key to its power.

John called them sorcerers who HAD deceived the whole world.

II. Biblical Evidence proves that the Church IS our Comfort Zone.

The assembly IS the comfort zone provided by God as a one day out of seven time to escape from the very people who want to aggitate in order to affect "change" where the published methods read quite like those of Wicca or neo-paganism.   

The church is called OUT of the masses for the specific purpose of comforting the tiny few who cannot be seduced by music or magic:

2Cor. 1:3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
        the Father of mercies,  
        and the God of all comfort;
2Cor. 1:4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, [discomforted]
        that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble,
        by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

History and medical science knows that music works because it afflicts the spirit: woe to those who sell it as the work of the Spirit God.  We should not seek to impose on believers that which was imposed on Israel as a curse until they were carried into captivity and death because of national religion from which the synagogue or church in the wilderness shielded the common people.

1. When Israel engaged in musical idolaltry at Mount Sinai, God abandoned them to the worship of the astrial deities or Sabazianism which was the old Dionysus god "of the new wineskins."
   

   "Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the Prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness? Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Kemphan (Saturn 666), figures which ye made to worship them:

   "The cause of sacrifices! "And I will carry you away beyond Babylon." (v. 43.) Even the captivity, an impeachment of their wickedness! "But a Tabernacle," say you, "there was (the Tabernacle) `of Witness.'" (v. 44.) (Yes,) this is why it was: that they should have God for Witness: this was all. "According to the fashion," it says, "that was shown thee on the mount:"

2. God ordained a day of rest as a COMFORT ZONE to protect His people from the burden laders, money takers and the pagan worship rituals.  Israel profaned the Sabbath at Mount Sinai by the use of music.
3. God provided a comfort zone as the Qahal or synagogue or the church in the wilderness which included rest, reading and rehearsing the Word of God; it excluded both vocal and instrumental rejoicing because you cannot be a student with someone making noise.
4. God promised "another Prophet" like Moses to which we must "listen." That is because Jesus Christ is the only source of teaching and comfort.
5. The National sacrificial system was the worship of the starry hosts and not a PATTERNISM for we who have escaped this ceremonial legalism into the grace of silence.
6. By law and common sense and decency there "was no praise service in the synagogue" where God presides when the elders teach that which has been taught and refute the "we" who oppose that sole "act" of giving God glory or praise. At the same time, in Romans 15 God provides comfort of the Scriptures.

In John, the "another" Comforter Jesus promised means "I will come to you." The same John said that the name of the Comforter is "Jesus Christ the Righteous."  The church IS the comfort zone of God in Christ and woe to anyone who presumes to drive people OUT in order to make a place "in the holy place" for talented friends.

Heb. 12:28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved,
        let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably
        with reverence and godly fear:
Heb. 12:29 For our God is a consuming fire.

Moving or shaken is a trumpet sound to "disturb, incite, move" meaning to DISCOMFORT. 

Scripture defines the assembly narrowly in terms of resting, education, glorifying God by speaking "that which is written" and comforting one another.  You will see the Christ-giving way to multiply the flock as any good shepherd knows.

Acts 9:31 Then had the churches rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria,
        and were edified;
        and walking in the fear of the Lord,
        and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost,
            were multiplied.

G1515 eirene i-rah'-nay Probably from a primary verb (to join); peace (literally or figuratively); by implication prosperity: one, peace, quietness, rest, set at one again. 

Rom. 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime
        were written for our learning,
        that we through patience and
           comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

1Cor. 14:3 But he that prophesieth [teaches]
        speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.

1Th. 4:11 And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business,
        and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;

The church cannot exist without a quiet place like the "closet" which Jesus commanded for us.

1Tim. 2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers,
        intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

1Tim. 2:2 For kings, and for all that are in authority;
        that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

1Tim. 2:3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
1Tim. 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved,
        and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

That defines the Christ "driven purpose" for the church. Paul ordained that senior males be the shepherds of the flock to feed and comfort and drive out the wolves and dogs which point directly to the musical performers seeking whom they might devour.  

The Spirit OF Christ warned about the afflictions imposed by men and prophesied that they would be sinced. Therefore, it is important to listen to the warning if we are not convinced by the absolute demand for promoting peace and harmony to give people rest FROM things like 27/7 music.

The prophets spoke by the Spirit OF Christ and Zechariah prophesied of Messiah. He also promised to silence the "musical prophesiers" AFTER the SIGNS had been performed. This prophesying sign speaks specificially of the prophets of Baal and Asherah who worked themselves up with music to pretend to speak for God.

Hos. 6:5 Therefore have I hewed them by the prophets;
        I have slain them by the words of my mouth:
        and thy judgments are as the light that goeth forth.
Hos. 6:6 For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice;
        and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

Zech. 10:2 For the idols have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie,
        and have told false dreams; they comfort in vain:
        therefore they went their way as a flock, they were troubled,
        because there was no shepherd.

Music which manufactures discomfort to spiritual people means that the elders have let the wolves inside by "tearing down the walls" to the world.

Marks to watch for:

Vanity: to pant (hence, to exert oneself, usually in vain.
        The Latin Vanus includes music which is defined as magic.
Diviners use magical scrolls or chants to bring fortunes: they are called soothsayers.

Soothsayers "h6049 Anan to act covertly, i.e. practise magic, enchanter, Meonemin, observe of times, soothsayer, sorcerer." 1. to observe times, practice soothsaying or spiritism or magic or augury or witchcraft, soothsayer, enchanter, sorceress, diviner, fortuneteller, barbarian, Meonenim (participle)

Speakers, singers and instrument players are called sorcerers by John in Revelation 18: they are called "lusted after fruits" and they work under the mother of harlots (Rev 17).

These were operatives in the Temple Cult because God had abandoned them to the worship of the starry host (Acts 7 etc.)

"We even have a mention at a later date of a similar custom in connection with the cult in Jerusalem, where certain Levites, called me'oreim, 'AROUSERS,' sang (every morning?) this verse from "Ps 44:23: "Awake, O Lord! Why do you sleep? Rouse yourself! Do not reject us forever." The Talmud tells us that John Hyrcanus suppressed the practice because it recalled too readily a pagan custom." (Roland de Vaux, p. 247).

Anath marked by feminine or effeminate singers trumps the Lion of the Tribe of Judah as the prophets make clear: These were operatives in the Temple to which God abandoned Israel when the elders fired God and demanded a "senior pastor" so they could worship like the nations.

Anath: "This Canaanite Goddess' name means 'to answer' and may be related to the Akkadian word ettu meaning 'active will. She was a major deity all over the western parts of the Near East, including Egypt where she was later considered to be the same Goddess as Libyan Neith. Titles for her include Belet'net 'virgin Anath,' 'Nethebely 'the destroyer,'

"Her breastplate was made of "parts of its feminine symbolismturned into a garment worn during animal sacrifices. Then it was decorated with severed penises." Lucifer-Zoe's breastplate replaces three stones with "wind, string and percussion instruments." The symbolize the rejection of God and the inability to repent" removed and Then it was decorated with symbols of wind, string and percussion instruments.  The MARK of feminist worship is universal:

Anag (h6026) aw-nag'; a prim. root; to be soft or pliable, i. e. effeminate or luxurious: - delicate, delight self, sport self.

Vain Comfort is: h6031 Looking down on people, to hurt, ravish, sing.
        6030 Anah specifically to sing, shout, testify, responsive singing,
        sing (together by course), testify

Troubled is:
h5065 nagas, naw-gas´; a primitive root; to drive (an animal, a workman, a debtor, an army); by implication, to tax, harass, tyrannize:--distress, driver, exact(-or), oppress(-or), x raiser of taxes, taskmaster.

Fitting into a machine for tyranny is a similar word:

h5059. nagan, naw-gan´; a primitive root; properly, to thrum, i.e. beat a tune with the fingers; expec. to play on a stringed instrument; hence (generally), to make music: player on instruments, sing to the stringed instruments, melody, ministrel, play(-er, -ing).

Having the same root meaning of Psallo:

h5060. naga naw-gah´; a primitive root; properly, to touch, i.e. lay the hand upon (for any purpose; euphem., to lie with a woman); to acquire violently, to strikedestroy, etc.):--beat, (x be able to) bring (down), cast, come (nigh), draw near (nigh), get up, happen, join, near, plague, reach (up), smite, strike, touch.

When Eve "added" that she was not to TOUCH the tree she was not speaking of apples but fruits. The Assyrians were called "the tallest tree in Eden." (punish, defeat,

Zech. 10:3 Mine anger was kindled against the shepherds, and I punished the goats:

V. Conclusions.

God imposed the Law of Moses BECAUSE of musical idolatry and then later the Monarchy because the elders wanted to "worship LIKE the nations." Therefore, what is always called NOISE was part of the common pagan sacrificial system and was known as "exorcism" meaning to try to make the GODS happy.  The invasion of the musical group--some speak of "infiltrating and diverting the church into a theater for holy entertainment"--is probably the mark of a church already debilitated spiritually by failing to feed the flock and keep out the wolves making all of the sounds to scatter the flock.

The word NOMOS is the only meaning of Legalism under the Law of Moses and under Apollyon and the Muses: in fact, God turned them over to worship the starry host which points to the same Egyptian system where laws and works were facilitated by the use of musical slave drivers as in the building of the temple.

All but the Israelite NATIONAL system was quarantined FROM the sacrifices and were limited in work and travel to REST. Because isolated proof texts intend to deceive, it is important to read the whole context and story line: that is the only function of the ekklesia or A Church of Christ. Therefore, you can read or skip but it is important to understand that Jesus came to save us FROM a generation or race of vipers or a crooked generation.  He defined the Scribes and Pharisees as "hypocrites" by pointing to mouth religion in Isaiah 30 and Ezekiel 33.  God defines the hypocrite as "rhetoricians, singers and instrument players" as well as those attracted by hypocritic arts which Paul outlawed for the assembly. The fundamental meaning of a hypocrite is a dramatic or musical performer.

The Crooked generation is well defined as the the old Wineskins or skolion singers.

We missed the fact that Jesus endorsed the synagogue and promised His ekklesia which has the same meaning as synagogue.  The synagogue, by command and common sense, "had no praise service."  Paul then narrowly defined the assembly where he used the "synagoge" word to exclude SELF-pleasure. This word in both Greek and Latin is almost dedicated to silencing all of the performance such as rhetoric, singing or making "music."
